Working with Webtec has been an outstanding experience from day one. Their team is not only kind and responsive, but also incredibly fast, collaborative, and dynamic. I will admit that I am not an easy client. I don't have much experience in the ways of the web and as a small business owner running field crews didn't have an in house admin to delegate this project to. That being said, Sergio and the team have been very accommodating and patient. I absolutely love the site that Webtec created for our small business and couldn't recommend them enough for other small business owners.

I signed up for what I was told would be a website project paid in 12 monthly installments. The website itself works and was delivered. No complaint there.

The problem is what happens after month 12.

During the sales process, I was told the cost would be split into 12 payments and that would be it. What I wasn't clearly told — and what is buried in the contract — is that after those 12 months, you can't simply stop. There is a 3-month penalty fee to cancel, or you keep paying indefinitely. I only found out about this when I tried to end the contract.

Also worth noting: the proposal promises "ongoing suggestions on improvements" and "storytelling & messaging support" as part of the monthly fee. In 12 months, I was never contacted proactively. Not once. So you're paying monthly for a service that essentially stops after the initial delivery.

The website works. The team is polite. But read every line of that contract before you sign especially the exit terms. What is presented as a simple monthly payment plan is actually a rolling subscription with a costly exit clause that the sales process does not make clear.

I'm writing this so other small business owners go in with full information. I wish I had.

Very disappointing experience with WebTec.

What started as a strong sales pitch quickly turned into poor execution. Our “new” website was largely copy-and-paste from the old one, filled with errors and clearly lacking any real quality control. Our team had to spend significant time fixing issues that should never have made it through.

Communication was extremely poor. Responses were slow or nonexistent, and once the site was marked “complete,” they became virtually unreachable—even through their own Basecamp system.

To make matters worse, we were charged additional fees due to delays on their end, and the project ended up costing over $9,000 for what was essentially a rebuild of an existing site. We also continue to be billed monthly with little to no transparency on what those charges cover.

Our IT team identified plugins that created potential security vulnerabilities, which is unacceptable for a professional web company.

Bottom line: strong promises upfront, but poor delivery, lack of accountability, and ongoing billing concerns. Proceed with caution.

All of the good review on here are fake! This company is running an all out scam. First you meet with a nice salesman, he sells you website service with 12 monthly payments. They deliver a Shopify template that cost $100 and when you start asking them questions...they disappear. But not only that, they keep charging your credit card even past the 12 months! We asked them many times to stop the charges but they keep charging you and telling you need to set up a meeting with them to cancel the charges WTF... LOL This is the most ridiculous experience I ever had with any company. Don't believe me? Read other non - "5 star" reviews on here. Total frauds, run away!

Our company utilized Webtec to be able to redesign our website and Bilha Njau and team was amazing to work with. They did a great job not just on the design but on the communication and updates. The process was smooth and the updates were quick. I HIGHLY recommend utilizing Webtec for your design needs.

What was presented and sold as a fixed-price website project ended up being billed as an ongoing subscription, despite the contract clearly outlining a total project cost broken into monthly payments. At no point was it clearly explained—or agreed—that this would become an open-ended billing arrangement.

Beyond the billing concerns, several key deliverables were never completed, including important functionality and integrations that were specifically discussed during the sales process. Even more concerning, incorrect contact information was set up on the websites, which resulted in missed leads—potentially costing significant business opportunities.

After launch, there was little to no proactive support. Communication was limited and often only occurred when issues were raised, rather than any ongoing service that would justify recurring charges.

When these concerns were brought forward, responses focused on enforcing contract terms rather than addressing clear inconsistencies between what was communicated and what was delivered.

Overall, this has been a frustrating experience, and I would recommend that anyone engaging Webtec ensure absolute clarity—in writing—on pricing structure, deliverables, and post-launch services before proceeding.

Sick to my stomach over how much we paid and our conversion didn't budge. We were over promised with great sales speakers and demos.
1. Turned out they were new at shopify platform.
2. They outsource their work to cheap countries. Yes they are "employees" of webtec but they are all on fiver and upworks.
3. Their employee turnover is high so we were passed around to so many people and had to explain from scratch over and over.
4. Never heard from Pontus the owner he didn't care to address any of this. (Maybe he will make time for this review)
5. Nobody specialized in "storytelling, funneling, graphics, design, user experience"
In the end we were left in the same position if not worse that when we started conversion wise and lost a lot of money trying webtec.
Please be careful with your hard earned money. I wish we never did this.

1. They have launched a website that they showed us a beta version of a month before final acceptance (so we accepted a different website that they have launched - hundreds of our remarks and one month work on correcting them were not introduced - clients saw real bullshi** on our website, even the phone number was wrong. This point is responsible for most of pur negative feedback.
2. The whole process took them ... over a year. Ok, we also did not respond as fast as we should have, but 4 -6 months should be all. It took 14 months, and the result is bad.
3. Wrong pictures, wrong references, wrong articles.
4. Plus- they are nice. But simple changes took ages.
5. Website seems nice, but has hundreds of mistakes.
6. They have claimed that they did SEO website optimization, but we hired an external company to check that and it appeared they lied to us/ they did not do it.

easy to work with, gets the job done

Webtec has been the best move we've made in a long time. They took what wasn't working and made it beautiful. They are incredibly responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommended for small businesses like mine.

Our experience with this company was deeply problematic and escalated over time due to poor communication, lack of transparency, and failure to deliver what was sold.

From the beginning, this was presented as a complex and robust project, including a custom system and infrastructure that justified a high monthly fee. That system was never delivered. Over time, it was quietly abandoned without a clear explanation, replacement, or renegotiation of scope.

As the project progressed, several major issues accumulated:

Pricing and billing problems
The monthly fee was later reduced after internal discussions with their team and finance, acknowledging that the original pricing no longer matched the reduced scope. This alone confirms that what was initially sold was not what was ultimately delivered. Even so, billing discussions kept resurfacing with confusion, despite everything being documented in the conversation history.

Broken promises and abandoned deliverables
A complex system was promised as part of the package and used to justify the cost. That system never materialized. There was no proper handover, no clear cancellation of that component, and no accountability for the gap between what was sold and what was delivered.

Team changes and communication breakdown
During the project, the team changed. Context was lost. New people were not aligned with previous agreements, forcing us to repeatedly explain past decisions and renegotiations. Communication became slow, fragmented, and reactive rather than proactive.

Critical hosting and ownership issue
The most serious problem was discovering months later that our website was still being hosted on their infrastructure, despite a clear agreement that it would be migrated to and run entirely on our own hosting, which we pay for annually.

Because of this:

We lost access to our own WordPress admin

The site went down due to missing server configuration

Multiple providers gave conflicting information about where the site was actually hosted

We were exposed to business risk without knowing it

Only after extensive technical investigation on our side and direct involvement from our hosting provider did the company finally confirm in writing that:

All website files

The database

WordPress admin access

All server level dependencies

were fully offloaded from their servers.

This should never happen. A client should always know where their website is hosted and have full access and control, especially after being told the migration was completed.

Conclusion
This experience was marked by overpromising, underdelivering, internal misalignment, and lack of transparency. The operational and technical confusion created unnecessary stress and real risk to our business.

I strongly advise anyone considering this company to:

Get every deliverable and hosting condition explicitly in writing

Verify ownership, access, and server location immediately after delivery

Be cautious with complex systems promised without clear implementation timelines

Unfortunately, based on our experience, expectations were not met and trust was eroded over time.

When we decided to outsource the development of our website, we looked for an innovative developer, responsive to changes we suggested, and had tools to make it easy to communicate between our marketing team and their developers. Basecamp proved to be the right tool to communicate back and forth between the two companies. Even though we were half a world away from where their developers were, there was minimal lag in response on either side. This was made possible by the Webtec manager putting together a chart showing the overlap in work schedules so we could each prioritize working on the website during these overlap periods.
I worked as part of the science utilization team for the International Space Station for 14 years. I was supporting the United States team, and we worked with most of the European countries, Japan, and Brazil. The biggest hurdle was always trying to find a time that everyone could meet to discuss risks and issues. While the ISS scenario is about the most extreme case anyone could encounter, I really liked how Webtec set up these communication windows right from day one. The result was a world-class website at a very reasonable price. I wholeheartedly endorse Webtec to anyone wanting a world-class, affordable website.
