Twice i tried to claim and twice it was rejected. The last one was a breakdown where the AA towed me to a garage which then did the repair on a bank holiday. A1 Claims refused to pay as they needed pre-authorisation which for a breakdown and recovery to a garage is virtually impossible. What a complete waste of money

I had experience with this warranty, and it left a very negative impression. The company basically pushes all responsibility onto the customer — they just tell you to find a garage yourself. After that, they are no longer interested in whether your problem is actually solved or not.

In reality, they don’t care if your issue gets resolved. There is no real support, and you are left dealing with everything on your own.

I do not recommend this company. It’s a shame I can’t give them a 0 or even -1 rating.

Would like to thank them for denying my claim, so close to the renewal date. Least it saves me hassle for next year.
Be easier just to put the funds to one side and have it ready for any future repairs. Least I know if I ever get offered a warranty on a future vehicle, I won't be purchasing through A1.

Judging by their replies, probably get a quicker response via here than the email I sent 3 weeks ago, what great customer service.

Bought a Mercedes C300D from Hippo with 3 months Platinum warranty at £2000 per claim. A1 Approved have contacted me to extend the warranty, but with only £1000 per claim! how can this be right?

I bought a car from junction 17 who are the very best example why used car dealers have a really bad reputation.

A1 certainly reinforced that with their associated warranty. I was informed from an employee that the money you pay for a warranty gets put in a pot and if at all possible they avoid paying out. I had listened to that and largely ignored it until I tried to claim.

During a service an issue was highlighted which I asked a local garage to fix as A1 Approved (should be called A1 definitely won’t approve) don’t want main dealers to be involved. The price difference was around £10 which makes me think there is a reason main dealers aren’t used, probably because they know about A1.

I booked the car in which was due an MOT also. I called A1 and was told that anything found during MOT wasn’t covered. Excuse number 759. I stressed it was found during a service. The list of requirements-photos, specific details that they wanted was incredible.

In the end I was without a car for a week and then A1 advised that they weren’t covering the issue as they hadn’t officially given authorisation to the garage to proceed.

Save yourself the warrant money and if something goes wrong bet on a horse. Better chance that way.

I purchased a car 2 months ago and the warranty was expiring whilst on holiday with my family which was a 180 miles from home.

I cannot thank A1 enough for there time and swift communication that I received throughout my breakdown they went above and beyond my expectations.

I would like to personally thank all the team involved that helped me and thank you for such a swift payment back into my account.

I will be looking into renewing my warrenty to a higher cover after first receiving first class service and reassurance from A1.

In my experience, A1 Approved is not worth the paper it's written on. They will find a way of getting out of paying out. They liaised with and agreed with my garage without even checking any of the work or costs.
When I escalated my concerns directly to the Director, Stuart Haskell, I found his response to be both rude and threatening rather than helpful or impartial.
Perhaps most concerning is that A1 Approved is not overseen by an ombudsman, meaning there is no independent route for appeal or resolution if you disagree with their decision. Your only realistic option is to pursue the matter through the courts.
Fortunately, my bank was able to recover my money, but the whole experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating.
I would strongly advise others to think carefully before relying on this service.

Already wrote a review if only I would have looked you up on trust pilot before hand and looked at all the bad reviews about your sham of a company I would NEVER of took out the warranty. On the other hand all your bad reviews are evidence and make my complaint to the ombudsman that little bit stronger rest assured you haven't heard the last from me. I would advice anyone who as had a bad experience with the SCAM of a company to escalate your complaint to the ombudsman stand up for your rights I certainly am A1 INSURANCE NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON !!!!!

Luckily I got this warranty with my car for free and don’t spend my hard earned money on it, if you’re thinking about purchasing, don’t. The bad reviews tell you everything you need to know. I had same issues, brochure said something was covered, on the phone they said it was covered but when it came to payment they wouldn’t do it. Absolute scam artists that need investigating and closing down, scamming people out of money for a living.

Great customer service. For a recent claim the Claims team were super responsive replying to my emails within hours. On the phone their advice was clear and helpful. Overall the warranties I have on both vehicles are good value. A1 made the experience easy.

We’ve used this warranty company for many years and have never had any issues.

The team are always helpful and friendly.

followed the instructions given to me on the phone, the garage did a claim for me and i just needed to pay my £25 excess and an extra £5 for labour. thank you

Upon A1 reply:
1. The parts which the garage replaced are covered by the product/warranty that was supplied with the car.
2. Information received over the phone from the A1 Approved was inadequate and I was treated as a "no-claim possible" person before even it was known what's wrong with the car due to level of protection supplied with the car. A classic - the car comes with warranty... good luck to you, you'll need it).
3. Time sensitive nature of decision needed - car in need of repair within very a small time slot - resulted in being torn between having a very small portion of repair cost recovered against the warranty and not having a car for another week or having the car repaired immediately but not receiving any compensation.

As I sad before - the product is constructed to absolutely minimise the risk of them having to compensate for valid repair. It is my personal opinion that the company holds a very low standard and has no respect for their customer, and their product didn't meet real life conditions. It felt like I'm about to be asked to send a fax to their main office so someone can stamp it.

Did everything to make it as difficult as possible for our local garage to fix (strip down car to get access to part to take photos of it), garage gave up in the end and left it for us to sort out. Then A1 asked us to take it to a Halfords to look at it, but the nearest one that does warrenty work was over 150miles away, everytime they had an excuse, NOT worth the hassle.

The garage i used for a very expensive gearbox repair submitted a claim to A1 that was fraudulent.I made a subject access request to A1 and the photographic and written evidence i secured is shocking.Why A1 authorised the claim is beyond reason.The evidence i secured clearly shows that what the garage told A1 is false,the photographic evidence is shocking.The garage said there was an hydraulic fluid leak that contaminated the clutch,the photos prove that no such leak was present and this was verified by an IAEA certified engineer.A1 tried absolve itself by stating it wss the garages responsability to inform me of the nature of the claim which is ridiculous.Bear in mind that every claim made on your policy affects you the consumer.I can not urge you strongly enough to not use this company.Everything i have said in this review is truthful and i have the evidence to prove it.In regards to your response you are talking nonsense,what did A1 Approved do to verify that what thegarage told you was correct,nothing,did A1 Approved look at the garages photographic evidence? because if you had you would of known what the garage told you wasnt correct,and for your information it is not a new fault,the original fault is still present.I suggest you read the repirt from the IAEA engineer !
