Unimpressive
Update: 23 May
I have updated to three stars, as I’ve just had a text from DPD, saying they will deliver today (Saturday) rather than next Tuesday. However all the other points in the review below still stand.
Well, I'm not sure why the reviews for this company are so good. That doesn't correspond to my experience.
I ordered an expensive digital audio player that the website said (when I ordered it) was in stock. A day or so later I received an email saying the item was delayed and they weren't expecting in for 2-3 working days, but that when they received it, it would be sent "next-day" delivery by DPD. I complained and was told the website stated 2-3 days for delivery (it did by this point, but not when I ordered it!).
I made the point that, why would they send an email apologising that it would be delayed 2-3 days, if the website said that anyway. Totally illogical and plainly untrue. No reply to that, funnily enough. Some might think they never had it in stock in the first place, but I couldn't possibly comment!
Remember the "next-day delivery" promise? Imagine my irritation when I received a message from DPD on Friday evening saying it would be delivered on the following Tuesday. Yes, it was a Bank Holiday weekend, but I've had many deliveries from DPD on a Saturday. Audio Affair it seems decided to go for a cheaper DPD service, despite promising next-day delivery.
All in all a thoroughly unimpressive experience. It's not as if their prices are any lower that other hifi specialists and, in my experience, others offer a much better service than Audio Affair, and when they say something is in stock, it is!
Oh, and they also took the payment, rather than it being "pending", a day before dispatching the item. Not a common practice in my experience.

Thank you for your feedback. Excellent service is our highest priority and as per our delivery info, where items are in stock we offer next weekday delivery when they are ordered before 3pm. We do keep a lot of items in stock, but as we have a very wide range in a very specialist market, there are sometimes items that arent immediately in stock or which have sold out - in such cases we will show a usual lead time on the website which we aim to stick to providing the supplier has stock.
As you mentioned, if any item is delayed, we will contact the customer promptly to advise on an estimated lead time. I am concerned though if you didn't receive a reply to your follow up email as we do have strict rules to reply to all correspondence, our customer service manager will look into this.
UPDATE - Thank you for providing order info separately. We've checked and in this instance your order was a part exchange. As Niall advised with part exchanges, we need to receive and verify the item being traded in before shipping the new item, so its slightly longer than the usual lead time for placing a normal web order - part exchanges can only be arranged with our staff so we are sorry if this wasnt made clear at the point of order - we will remind our team to always make this clear. We feel our part exchange service is very competitive overall and while we follow this standard process with all trade ins, we appreciate your patience over the few days it took for us to collect your old item and then ship the new item. We hope you are pleased with the upgrade once it arrives and if you need anything else in future, please contact us and we'll do everything we can to help - hope you also have a fantastic bank holiday weekend.
