Black Country Metal Works Reviews

Fantastic cake stand, bought for our daughter’s wedding cake, we absolutely love it. The wood has amazing quality the colours and the shape is beautiful. Very reasonable prices

Contacted them and got an prompt / detailed response, very helpful thank you Rhiannon

Would certainly recommend them

Excellent communication and well packaged. I bought the Red Robin sculpture as a present and it was exactly as shown in the photos . Arrived far more quickly than expected. Will definitely buy here again and will recommend to friends.

Postbox is well made and robust. Delivery was 1st class after I had ordered the item had arrived next day. Came with instructions which were easy to follow. The postbox looks great. Thank you. Would definitely recommend. Many thanks to Ben and Rhiannon

A very poor all round experience from this company. Ordered an item based on next day delivery and the item arrived a week later. Was delivered to the wrong address and was damaged. I made contact with the company 3 times when I was waiting for the delivery and received false promises of when it would be delivered and call backs which never happened. Black Country requested return of the item creating more work for me as the customer. Item was sent back and 5 days later I am still waiting to hear about my refund. Really poor experience all round, unprofessional, not true to their word. In my opinion DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Well designed pinecone door knocker in polished brass, very solid and exactly as described, wrapped securely, dispatched quickly and arrived safely. Good communication with Rhiannon. Five Stars.

Thank you so much for confirming via email regarding my order and to give me a courtesy call earlier.

It is more than understandable in this busy world, that companies often, don't fulfill their promises of callbacks and updates.

From the first phone call today you have been exemplary. And the customer experience l received from you today has been by far the best l have ever had. You are excellent at what you do and it was effortless and natural on your part.

I'm very excited for my order to arrive.

Thanks again.

Keep going what you are doing because it's brilliant.🌟

The tray was well made and great quality wood. My son and partner were delighted with it.
When I made a mistake with the delivery the team were very helpful and understanding and were prompt in sorting it out. Great family business!

Great quality, solid brass item. Very competitively priced. Delivered promptly. Will definitely purchase from here again!

Sales team were polite and efficient, the price with savings including a further reduction for collection was the best in the market place at that time. The collection was made easy by the exceptional help of the girl on the till who arranged for the products to be bought right to the gate, she fully inspected each part including cushions before helping us to carry to our car . the product is super sturdy and looks a dream . Thank you.

Order arrived in 2 days, good quality and very happy with the item. Thank you!
The customer service manager Rhiannon was also very helpful.

For someone who is really starting to enjoy their garden, this little tin man has added a little more joy to our green space! Beautiful in the flesh, just as lovely as it looked in the Etsy shop front. Thrilled, and have added these guys as a favourite shop!
Props to Rhiannon the Etsy Customer Service lady!

I made a bit of a mess ordering online so gave them a ring. Holly was so helpful and friendly, everything was put right nice and quickly, without too much trouble. Many thanks.

Beautiful tree purchased from this company. Great value for money too.
So happy with my purchase

Extremely disappointing – what has happened to this place?
We hadn’t been to Black Country Metal Works since 2020 and, remembering how good it used to be, we were genuinely looking forward to returning. We drove for over an hour specifically to visit and buy some of the fantastic artisan metalwork items they used to sell.
Sadly, what a disappointment.
The shop that used to be packed with fantastic, unusual and genuinely interesting artisan pieces has effectively disappeared. In its place is a large café/restaurant and a gift shop selling the sort of generic, mass-produced gifts you would expect to find in a large garden centre.
There are still a few ironwork items around, and the sculptures themselves are very good, but the place has lost what made it special. It used to have character and felt like somewhere you could spend time browsing and finding something completely different. Now it feels much more like a commercial tourist attraction.
The restaurant experience was particularly frustrating.
We ordered two coffees and a cake and waited. And waited. After 30 minutes we still hadn't received anything. There appeared to be very little urgency from the staff, and nobody seemed particularly interested in explaining what was happening.
By this point we had to leave, so we went to ask for a refund. This was when things became even more ridiculous – our order hadn't even been started.
How can two coffees and a cake take 30 minutes without even being prepared?
What really annoyed me was the attitude and complete lack of organisation from the staff. There seemed to be no communication whatsoever, and the whole restaurant operation appeared chaotic. Nobody seemed to know what was happening, and there was certainly no sense that anyone was taking responsibility for the problem.
We were promised a refund, but at the time of writing I am still waiting for it.
The whole place gave the impression of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. It's incredibly frustrating when you've driven over an hour to visit somewhere, spent your time and money getting there, and then receive such poor service.
The £5 entrance fee isn't really the issue – the sculptures are worth seeing. The issue is that the Black Country Metal Works we remembered seems to have disappeared.
What was once a fantastic and distinctive venue showcasing artisan work now feels like a commercial tourist park selling generic gifts, with an expensive café attached.
It's genuinely sad because this place had something special. We were expecting to come away with some unique metalwork and have a pleasant visit. Instead, we left extremely disappointed, frustrated and feeling that our time had been completely wasted.
The changes to the site are disappointing enough, but the restaurant service and chaotic staff were the final straw. We certainly won't be making the long journey back.

Holly from sales was really helpful & nothing was too much trouble. I am picking it up & I am going to spend a few hours there. It sounds a nice place to visit. It's apparently easy to put together so I will find a family member to do it. Thank you Holly..

I have bought a couple if items from Black Country Metal Works, and although I have not yet used them properly they seem pretty good in quality.

I was also impressed at the speed of the delivery and the over all cost was not expensive. Its also nice to know you are supporting a family run British business. I will certainly buy from them again I'm sure.

The post box is beautiful, extremely well made and looks amazing. I expected it to arrive in a couple of weeks, but it was delivered the next day. Thank u so much,

I received my horse shoe on time and beautifully packaged. The lovely shoe is a gift for my parents to put above the front door of their new home. It came carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and tissue paper inside the box.
I would totally recommend buying from this company…. You will not be disappointed!!

Purchased a pack of two metal obelisks. The quality was excellent and very reasonably priced. Would buy from this seller again. Rhiannon, Etsy Customer Service Manager was brilliant and ensured a speedy delivery and items were very well packaged. 100% recommend this small business.

I was looking for a replacement brass knocker for a Victorian front door . After reading very good reviews I rang and spoke to Holly Copeland who was very helpful and put my order in! So nice to actually speak to a person as I’m elderly and finding it hard having to order so many things on line . Hopefully I will be equally pleased when it is delivered next week . Also great to hear about the traditional company .
