We travelled to Iceland last May, and choosing Cars Iceland turned out to be one of the best decisions of our entire trip.

While comparing multiple rental options, what initially stood out was the pricing and how clean and easy the website was to navigate. It just felt straightforward, no confusion, no friction. But I’ll be honest, I was still a bit cautious. It was our first time in Iceland, and my wife was 4 months pregnant, so reliability and support mattered more than anything.

I reached out with a few questions, fully expecting delays since we were booking well in advance. Instead, I got almost immediate responses. Not just quick, but genuinely helpful. Over the next couple of weeks, I found myself reaching out multiple times, and every single interaction was consistent, patient, and reassuring. That level of communication alone set the tone.

Before we even landed, Cars Iceland had already sent a detailed, step-by-step guide covering everything. And I mean everything. When we arrived at the airport, in a completely new country with unfamiliar surroundings, I didn’t have to ask a single question. Every direction, every sign, every step was already explained clearly in their email. That level of thoughtfulness made a huge difference, especially given our situation.

The car itself was exactly what you hope for but rarely get. Clean, well-maintained, and clearly checked properly before handover. I had specifically asked about safety, and it showed. We covered a lot of ground across Iceland, from the Blue Lagoon to the Black Sand Beach to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and beyond, and the car performed flawlessly the entire time. No issues, no surprises, just smooth driving throughout.

Even the small things were handled well. Fueling, instructions, parking info, general guidance, everything was simple and clear. And whenever I had questions during the trip, I reached out again and got quick, helpful responses every time.

Drop-off was just as seamless. Despite it being a Sunday, the staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and efficient. No stress, no delays, just a genuinely pleasant end to the experience.

What really stands out looking back is how easy Cars Iceland made everything feel. When you’re traveling in a new country, especially under slightly sensitive circumstances, that kind of reliability and support isn’t just appreciated, it’s invaluable.

I have a nice experience with car Iceland rental,as they gave me all the details, explanation and help since the beginning of my trip,they were always there for me,and I also received a car that they recommended for that weather (end of march,heavy winter),and the car was in a good condition prepared for any situation. 100% recommend!

The are cars are ok but basic maintenance would improve the experience

Pick up and drop off was super simple and accomodated for out of hours and the staff were super helpful when we had a small issue with getting the fuel cap open. Good prices and the car was lovely.

Brilliant, cheerful, even let me swap my gps for WiFi half way through the trip - also let me extend and drop off at the airport when my plans changed.

Car was clean, new, easy to operate. All in all no complaints, I’ll use them again when I visit next!

Recollida molt fàcil a altes hores de la nit, oficina al costat mateix de l'aeroport, que hi vam arribar a peu. Atenció molt correcte i ràpida. El cotxe estava molt bé i no vàrem tenir cap problema.

Ahead of our trip to Iceland we researched a few different car rental providers - but we’re so glad we went with Cars Iceland.

The booking process was incredibly straightforward and there was no surprise surcharges added on and no large deposits to be left on pickup.

The collection for the keys was a simple locker pickup with no staff interaction required and very clear instructions in the collection email sent well ahead of time.

Drop-off was similarly straightforward and we were in and out again with 5 minutes and off on the shuttle to the airport.

Have already recommended two friends who used them with similar results so will continue to shout them out!

The whole process was super easy, from booking, to picking up the car, to dropping it back off again. Really good price and the customer service was excellent too! I needed to change the dates around and they replied very quick and sorted it out for me with no issues. Would definately reccommend!!

We had a seamless experience in hiring the car, no faults driving it and lots of advice via the in car notices and website/app. The car was also affordable!

The only downside was that the heating system of the car didn't work so well, and when it's minus degrees outside it would be nice to warm up. Apart from that it was great!

We were able to pick up our car in the city on Christmas day, even though everywhere was closed they made it work for us to get our car. Car was what we expected, clean, and just what we needed. We did alot of driving all around iceland, and didnt have any issues. The price fairly reasonable as well.

I loved my experience with cars Iceland, I have left a great review because my experience with them left me very satisfied. This started from the first connection in admin to the vehicle itself. The transfer from online booking to collection of the car was seamless and ensured my holiday began with a great start.

Cars Iceland were great, the online booking was really easy and when I realised I needed an extra day I just emailed them and they sorted it out for me. Check in was a doddle, the person at the desk was friendly and told us all we needed to know. The car was clean and worked as expected. On returning we just parked up, dropped off the keys, and grabbed our flight. Really no issue whatsoever from start to finish. Actually, one criticism...it wasn't immediately obvious where to go at the airport arrivals. I checked the email and it said to cross the car park which was really obvious when we stepped outside and saw the blue rental sign but the p1-p3 thing at the airport was confusing...I would argue that that is the airport's fault, not Cars Iceland

We rented a car for a week for a family of four - two adults and two children under 7. Cars Iceland provided a very up-to-date model car which was big enough for us, along with two car seats for our children.

The car itself was extremely clean and well maintained and we had zero issues in the whole week.

Cars Iceland provided a great guide on driving in Iceland before our arrival and everything was explained clearly, ensuring we had no problems when driving around this beautiful country.

The check in process was smooth - perhaps the easiest I've had - and the returns process was equally smooth. I liked that there was a regular bus service from right outside the rental offices back to the airport meaning we didn't have to hang around needlessly.

Overall I am extremely pleased with my experience with Cars Iceland and when I return to visit I will 100% be booking with them.

I have used CarsIceland in 2019, 2021, 2024 and also 2025 and it's been a first class experience every time.in 2019 we had a minor breakdown issues and support was straightforward and very rapid.
