Katie was readily available by phone for any queries or issues faced. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Katie and the team. After 4 house moves Dutton Gregory is by far the best solicitor I’ve ever used. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

We have taken a little time to write this review as we wanted to see how good the service from our replacement Conveyancing Solicitor was. Suffice to say they restored our faith with their proactiveness in trying to get a house sale and purchase across the line, albeit we did not complete due to the seller deciding to pull out last minute. In the 30+ years we have been buying and selling houses Dutton Gregory are bottom of the league and looking at other reviews we are not the only unhappy clients. They were nothing short of abysmal in their performance. What upsets us most was the fact they came recommended by the agent selling our home, whom we will not be using again, rest assured. Whilst we don't want to tar all DG offices as being inept we would suggest you avoid the Chandlers Ford branch if you wish a smooth passage into your new home.

Friendly, responsive and well taken care of. Really appreciate all the hard work that Hirakshi put in during the purchase and sale of my property especially during the end phases.

Lily Benson from Dutton Gregory has carried out the conveyancing for a sale and purchase for me. The service I received was exemplary. Lily kept me up to date and informed throughout the entire process. I really appreciated the regular updates and prompt replies to any questions I had. Lily was extremely helpful and supportive during an application to Land Registry to update a title restriction. When I went into the office to sign paperwork the reception staff were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Lily's services.

After intial discussions with Andrew Witt about my case he seem competant and able to help - I had a court case looming which he was fully aware of - we were waiting for information from our accountants which took ages to get - once the info arrived I sent it to Andrew and then just never heard back from him or Ellie Davies despite emailing and calling many times - he has totally left me in the lurch. Really bad customer service that none of them bothered to get back to me even if just to say they could not help.

Avoid This Dishonest Law Firm at All Costs

I cannot stress enough how important it is to steer clear of this law firm. My experience with them was nothing short of a nightmare, and I feel compelled to warn others about their unethical practices.

First and foremost, this firm is blatantly dishonest and consistently overcharges for their services. They tack on unnecessary fees, inflate hours, and provide little to no value in return. It’s clear that their priority is maximising profits at the expense of their clients, rather than delivering fair and competent legal representation.

What’s even more alarming is their use of unethical legal tactics. Despite numerous complaints and clear evidence of misconduct, it seems there is little to no accountability for their actions. This lack of oversight allows them to continue operating in a way that harms clients without consequence.

To make matters worse, their complete lack of customer service is another red flag. They ignore calls, emails, and legitimate concerns, leaving clients feeling abandoned and frustrated. Their so-called "complaint process" is nothing more than a dishonest tactic to appear reasonable, but in reality, it’s designed to wear you down and silence you.

Do not trust this firm with your legal matters or your reputation. They are unreliable, unethical, and operate with zero regard for their clients’ best interests. Save yourself the stress, money, and potential legal headaches—AVOID THIS FIRM AT ALL COSTS.

If you’re looking for honest and professional legal representation, keep searching. This is not the firm for you.

We had a great experience in working with Dutton Gregory on our first house purchase. Hirakshi was always really responsive which was greatly appreciated and everything was handled with professionalism and speed which gave us a lot of confidence.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dutton Gregory was recommend to me by a friend of mine working closely in the industry. Described as reliable and efficient. Happy to confirm this is absolutely truthful. I can comfortably add that they reply incredibly quickly. All nerves at ease with Dutton, choose them.

If you want a solictor that you have to do the job for them, chase several times to be ignored and are quite frankly incompetent - the team at Dutton Gregory are for you.

In other words avoid avoid avoid.

It actually pains me to have to pay them for what they made such an extremely stressful process.

I was roped in by being recommended by the estate agents (mistake number one) and a shiny app to monitor and track progress.

This didn’t work at all, nothing was ever updated and I had to chase constantly for email responses. On working with them I made clear that I’m a phone girl, it’s easier so please call but this didn’t happen. I barely heard from them at all.

They delayed my exchange and completion on the sale due to sitting on my file for 2 weeks instead of transferring money required for documentation, I almost lost my buyer.

On my onward purchase, we were meant to exchange on a Friday, we didn’t, yet I had zero communication from Gareth (my case handler) leaving me wondering what had gone on over a long weekend.

I raised my concerns and for the last 2 weeks we saw a slight improvement.

Dutton Gregory weren’t prepared to offer any compensation which is concerning as they don’t recognise how poor they’ve been.

I feel like I should be paying myself at this point for all the chasing and facilitating I did this end.

Really I don’t think they could care less about their customers, you’re passed from person to person left wondering what an earth is going on.

What’s gone so wrong in the industry that this service is the norm?

Please, take this review seriously and go elsewhere.

We've just completed on our hopefully forever home and couldn't be happier with Tom Whatley's services. We've never owned a property in the UK so had no idea what to expect, and coming from Germany where the process is so much easier and straightforward, we had a lot of probably stupid questions.
