In March I ordered two bare root plum trees from CRJ’s excellent online selection. The trees arrived promptly, were planted promptly and watered regularly. Two months later neither tree shows any sign of life.

I tried phoning repeatedly but only got the answerphone. So I emailed, with zero response save for their automated acknowledgment.I emailed again, same result. From my perspective this order has just been a total waste of my money, time and effort with the added insult of being ignored when I try to get in touch. I paid by PayPal so will be seeking a refund.

They sold me fruit trees which they didn’t actually have. Then I had to ask for a refund and chase a refund. It’s now 14 days later and still no sign. They’re crooks. DO NOT use them.

Unscrupulous conduct by CRJ Fruit Trees (also trading as John Bowers at the same address in Wimbotsham, PE34 3QB) Nearly £200 of trees I ordered were not sent, and they just fobbed me off when I contacted them, with no response to subsequent emails. Thier attitude was disgraceful. I reported them to PayPal who issued a refund for the missing trees. Even the trees I did receive were very small and unbranched - much smaller than trees I've bought elsewhere at a similar price. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

I ordered a tree on 12th December. It says on the website “all orders dispatched within 3-5 working days”

I didn’t receive any order number or delivery details. After waiting a week I asked where my tree is and received the following reply:

“ I am sorry we do also ask in our t&c's that you allow up to 28 days and this is our busiest period; the tree won't be despatched until est. 2nd week of Jan; with our apologies.”

I have asked for my order to be cancelled and the money refunded. I will edit this message after my refund has been received.

Ordered a beurre hardy pear tree as a Christmas gift after having read lots of positive reviews. I got an immediate confirmation email saying my order was being processed. Then I saw a lot of very negative reviews which made me panic so I rang the helpline and spoke to Julie who was super helpful and explained their harvesting process. Considering the poor weather we have had, I'm totally not surprised that they have been unable to get the trees out as quickly as they would have liked. If people took the time and trouble to speak directly to businesses in a non-confrontational way then I'm sure there would be less friction and more positive outcomes for everyone.
The tree arrived this morning. Well-packed with lots of straw and in a pot. It's a very healthy specimen and great to know that it's home-grown. I'm very happy with it and would order from this company again.

Ordered 2 trees 3rd November, heard nothing in 2 weeks. Called to check and received an email 19th Nov saying they had the trees but there was a delay. Received 1 tree 13th December. Called to check and was told they no longer did step-over apple trees. Asked for an explanation why no-one had contacted me and was told "we just put the orders in a pile and it isn't until they pick them we find out". I asked why these were still being sold on the web site? "We have another site where they no longer show, but we can't amend this one". Refused to refund carriage

We ordered two plub trees on Dwarf Pixie root stock. Thinking they would arrive during the winter as bare root, we were surprised when they arrived a few days later. They where we'll packaged in strong paper sacks surrounded by straw, and they were in POTS. The trees where very strong at around 3 feet and pruned. We were that pleased that we had to do this review.

I ordered on Saturday 7th September and received a short email confirmation. After reading the reviews I emailed to ask when I could expect delivery and received a reply within a hour saying it was 3-5 working days as per website. My trees arrived this morning, (5th working day) superbly packaged with thick brown paper and straw, well labelled and very healthy. Couldn’t be more pleased.

I ordered 5 fruit trees recently from this nursery. I liked the variety of fruit trees especially apple varieties offered. I was concerned after reading some negative reviews here. Nevertheless pleased to say the trees duly arrived and are all now planted and really doing well already putting on growth. I am very happy with purchase

I ordered an apple tree as the price was really good but although i received an email, I never received an order number. I then read the reviews and wondered if I would ever receive my order or my money back! Following a couple of emails which were not replied to and many unanswered telephone calls I did manage to speak to a helpful young lady who reassured me about my order and today I have received a lovely looking apple tree. Despite my initial reservations, I am glad I did order with this company and am very pleased with my little tree.

I am very doubtful that the previous review is genuine. Don't use this firm. Ordered tree on 29th March. Got automatic order acknowledgments by email and text, but with no order number. Tree hadn't arrived 9 days later (and no communication from them) so I tried to contact them by email and phone. No response/answer. Fortunately, Paypal have now reimbursed me.

Had read all the reviews, good and bad, but the price waas too good to miss. Ordered on Sunday arrived on Wednesday. Well packed with papersacks and straw (environmentally friendly). A really well proportioned and bushy tree, with some blossom and budding. Planted out and now just waiting to see how we go. Very satisfied with the service and price.

Not sure where these negative reviews are coming from, my personal experience was excellent.

Placed order and had DHL shipping confirmation within 5 days.

Sent a query email about when it would be dispatched and had a very fast response.

Well packaged with straw and three great looking trees.

Planted, let’s see what next year brings crop wise.

Already planning to order two more trees next month.

I was worried after ordering an apple tree from CRJ Fruit Trees, and then reading a number of scathing reviews on Trustpilot, that I'd made a huge mistake, especially when my order failed to arrive within the advised 3-5 days. However, when I emailed them to query the delivery date, I received a prompt reply with an apology and an explanation that the delivery had been delayed by a few days. A couple of days later, the tree arrived via DHL. It's a lovely looking tree and I love the way it was packaged using environmentally friendly straw. I can't wait to plant it now and reap the fruit in years to come. It just goes to show you can't always believe everything you read on Trustpilot.

Placed my order and didn’t get an order confirmation so I had to email to find out if my order had been received. Got a fast response saying it had been but no order number provided still. Was assured it would be delivered by the Monday, contacted him on the Tuesday to receive tracking details to say he hadn’t even dispatched the item until that afternoon. Finally arrived in a very sorry state and after emailing him for a refund on my delivery I got back a very rude email. I honestly thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt despite the mountain of bad reviews but I wish I hadn’t now. DO NOT PURCHASE

I had a problem with delivery and was advised by DHL to contact CRJ from whom I received the rudest, couldn't care less response. Anyone paying via their credit card through Paypal should ensure their current delivery address is correct with Paypal before ordering especially if you've changed address, have advised your credit card company but not Paypal
It should have been 5 star for the product, speed of dispatch and packaging but 0 stars the abysmal rudeness experienced and total lack of customer service.

I would give this 0 stars if possible. I received an apple tree with the root trimmed extremely short, in May 2021. There were leaves on the tree when it arrived and it was packed well, but I was concerned about the lack of roots as they had been very severely trimmed back, leaving a 4cm stump only. Nonetheless I planted it as I have other fruit trees, presuming that the growers must know what they are doing. However this did not grow or root, I left it until this spring to give it chance, but on lifting the tree (by now a dead stick) the roots have never grown, when I complained I received a very blunt and rude response, basically saying I should have complained last summer. I think some of the testimonials on the site are probably fake and wish I'd looked at Trustpilot sooner. Don't waste your money.

Complete con - buyers should be aware that Chris Bowers is trading under false pretences to avoid the terrible feedback the company receives.

I ordered 3 trees and got them all in less than a week - they were beautifully packaged and the trees look really healthy. I know they’ve had a tough time in the last year but my experience has been fantastic. Hopefully they will grow and be happy in my garden.

I couldn't be happier. Not only this company had all the varieties of trees I was looking for but it was easy to navigate the website, I spoke to a member of staff on the phone who picked up straightaway, trees arrived in less then a week, well packaged and with good root system and branch development. I don't know where the negative reviews are coming from but I will buy from CRJ fruit trees again.
