Zero Stars, Not Canadian
Zero stars; Placed an order for replacement feet for a gazebo. Tracking says delivered, emailed many times, did not hear back. Then my credit card number was stolen. Company is shipping direct from China, not Canadian at all.
Their canopy’s are not even water…
Their canopy’s are not even water repellent like they claim, the cloth leaks like it’s not even there, and they don’t make good on their product
Find another way if possible!
This is the only company that makes replacement gazebo roofs for the Tiverton 3 that we originally bought from Target, which is unfortunate, unless you get a custom made one. The first replacement roof that we ordered from them lasted approximately 3 years until it got enough tears etc. from the overhanging tree's twigs that it needed replacing. We then opted for the upgraded Ziplock 500 fabric which cost an additional $100+ over the Ziplock 300 basic fabric, and was supposed to be stronger & longer lasting. It fit our gazebo perfectly etc. and the color has held well since its 2022 installation. The problem is that the cotton straps to attach it to the gazebo frame have totally frayed and the hooks have detached from the Ziplock 500 material. So while the Ziplock 500 material has lasted the straps haven't so what's the point of a stronger roofing material if you can't attach it to the gazebo?? When asked if they would repair or replace the roof, Garden Winds' response was that since it's past their 1 year warranty we can purchase another roof for 20% off?!? What's the point of having a stronger fabric if the means of attaching it is a failure?? Do they think that we're that stupid? FYI, they remove all negative reviews from their website so buyer beware. Also look at the Better Business Bureau website to see what crooks these folks are.
Bought two replacement canopies from…
Bought two replacement canopies from Garden Winds. The first one lasted 3 summers. Not too impressive, however given lack of other options, it was just long enough that I thought I'd give them another shot. It was still cheaper than replacing the whole metal gazebo structure, which is still in great shape. The second one, 3 years later, was considerably more expensive and I thought right away - seemed thinner and lighter than the first set. Despite waterproofing with Scotchgard spray, the roof was leaking after the first few times it rained - and not just a bit, I'm talking: pick up everything from the table right away and head inside when rain starts. After the first season with it, it could not even be removed from the structure without ripping in a few spots. Same with the installation this past summer. When it was time to take it off this fall, the canopy was paper-thin and you could rip it with two fingers. Same with their mosquito nets, by the way.
Considering the high cost, by the time it's couriered to Canada, it's a rip off, given the abysmal quality. Tried to leave a review on their site - surprise, no way to do that. I wonder why!...
Stay away from this company
Stay away from this company. My rip proof canopy last 6 months and started to rip at the corners. Contacted Garden Winds. Since I was past the 6 month warranty period from purchase date I was left with a torn canopy
Poor quality which they try to hide by blocking reviews
First, go to their site and note that almost all reviews are 5 stars. However, many of them are no newer than 4-7 years ago, and there's no way to enter a new review. Given the highly negative external reviews for this company, they're hiding something.
And that something is poor quality. And to make matters worse, they're the only game in town for replacement canopies.
I bought the "upgrade" canopy from them:
1) It was so small I had to cut all the ends of the gazebo frame to fit it.
2) Even with their recommended waterproofing treatment, water comes right through! It's so thin and porous you can see the sun through the stitching.
3) And because water can seep through, it gets dirty and full of mildew in shady places.
4) We're at the end of only its third year (!) and it's already starting to fall apart, and we take the canopy cover out and use it only four months every year.
Blue Canopy almost white in less than 3 months!
I bought a swing canopy replacement in True Navy color. 2.5 months later, it is a very light lavender color. The agreed to replace it as an "exception" because their warranty does not include "environmental damage"...you won't find that language in their warranty but you will find "made from exterior fabric". Specs say it is treated for UV protection....this product did not just fade, it catastrophically failed!
Warning.....Do not buy from them
WARNING......Do not buy from them. They tell you you can return but then tell you they cant accept the retun because you've tried it abd it is now used. I dont like the product now im $250 in the hole. Water will hold wster dangerous for kids
Misleading Customers into buying After-Market Substandard products
I ordered a replacement canopy for the Valencia swing set which I originally purchase from Canadian Tire. Garden Winds is an "after-market" company that sells these knock-off products and have no affiliation with the original manufacturer, but advertises Nu-Park's product on their website. Long story shortened, the replacement canopy is not the same quality and colour AND it is completely unusable because the dimensions of the canopy does not fit the frame. It is way too small. Do not buy Garden Winds replacement canopy for Canadian Tire's Valencia Collection Day Bed and Swing, Model no: 088-1682-2. "Garden Winds Canada" which is located in the US (albeit a Chinese Company), so not Canadian in any way, only discloses after you've purchased from them that they are an after-market agent, and what they are selling is inconsistent with the manufacturer's product. And, they make returning their inadequate/unusable product logistically very difficult.
This was my SECOND Garden Winds Canopy…
This was my SECOND Garden Winds Canopy replacement for the Home Depot Sonoma Gazebo SWING. BOTH times, the canopy is SO TIGHT you can NOT get it on all 4 corners. I bet people are tearing or ripping it and loosing the fight! NO EXCUSE! This is a PRODUCTION ISSUE, and if it were 1" larger all the way around, it would fit! How STUPID to make your customers struggle this hard over an installation! I finally left it for days, wet it down with a hose, and stretched and pulled repeatedly just to get it ON! Common, REALLY?? I wonder how many customers they have to loose before this gets FIXED????
Disappointed.
Disappointed.. we have purchased 3 canopies from them in the past. They typically don't last long, but work.
The last canopy we ordered was cut too short and didn't fit our structure. We argued with them and they refused to do anything so now we are stuck with a canopy that doesn't fit. Customer service is very disappointing.... Buy from someone else if you can.
Worse experience ever
I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing my cover. The material is cheap and last only one season. If you are looking to spent $400 only for 1 summer go ahead with your order. Customer service suck.they are rude and not going to solve anything for you. Very disappoint.
BEWARE
BEWARE, purchased Garden Winds Gazebo. After 2yrs of summer months only (live in Upstate NY) so only have canopy up 4.5 months max per year. Replaced canopy due to sun dry rot.
Once again replacement second time started to rot into 2nd summer of use. You would think we would have learned our lesson but NO.
We ordered 3rd canopy replacement and thought we would be smarter and pay more to upgrade the material (what a joke).
As we were putting the new and supposedly improved top (June 2022) on the seams were ripping all over. We ended up duct taping all the seams and dealt with it for the few months of use. Removed in September 2022 threw in our shed and forgot about it.
6/5/23 went to get ready for the summer a realized we needed to make a call to GW and see about replacing and what they could so to help.
We missed the warranty by 18 days (our fault) and was told they would give us free shipping ($9.95)on the next one we ordered.
After spending over $800 from start to finish.
THANK GARDEN WINDS for not backing up your products and your customers.
I gave you 1 star because you have to to write a review otherwise you don't even qualify for that.
Disgusted Customer, Charlotte
I purchased the riplock 500 upgraded…
I purchased the riplock 500 upgraded canopy. It is the same or lighter than the standard 350 model I purchased 2 years ago. Hopefully it will last longer than 2 seasons.
Purchased the canopy from Garden Winds…
Purchased the canopy from Garden Winds last May. Installed several months later and only had it up for two months. Put it up again this year and the material split, has holes, dry rotted and discolored. Customer service said it was out of warranty, yeah by 2 weeks, they are so generous they offered to extend my warranty and let me spend another $100.00 and they would replace it, I would stay away form purchasing a replacement canopy from these folks
Deceptive company
Had bought replacement canopies from this company in the past for my Target 2011 purchase of Smith & Hawken 10x12 Allogio canopy and never had a problem. Last one from 2 years ago was definitely crappier. Barely lasted 2 seasons. This year, bought one again and upgraded (paid more). It would not fit over the corners! My husband ended up using his sawzall to hack a couple inches off a bunch of the metal corners. When I complained to the company, they said my model was different from the one they sell and to send pics. I did this and also dug around in my paperwork and found original model number from 12 years ago! It matched what they said replacement would fit. I sent pics and of all this. Still, they then said models differ and I had a different one. Are you kidding me??! They emailed me asking for photo of original paperwork. I’m not even asking them for money back or another canopy. I just want the acknowledgement that they’re deceptively selling replacements that don’t fit. I may now get next one from Sunjoy and you may want to do the same. Garden Winds sucks!
Replacement canopy FAILURE
Ordered the replacement canopy for the gazebo, because they said you can get over 2 years out of theirs due to superior material, and craftsmanship.
I checked and double checked it would fit.
During installation, it was so tight that the seams were pulling apart a little, when it rained, the water came thru the stretched needle holes. One of the grommets to allow the air to escape was pulled out of the material I ended up putting a piece of tape over it.
I contacted Garden Winds sent photos of everything expecting a replacement or money back. Neither of which happened.
Now after almost 2 years it is completely destroyed like the original.
So much for the better UV protection material and their thicker than the original material.
DO NOT PURCHASE A CANOPY!!!!!
Total failure of the canopy where it was torn to shreds was January 13, 2023. Bought March 2021. Faded badly after the first year.
NEVER AGAIN, RIP OFF'S, THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST.
I had bought, the canopy & a warranty with it,because the salesman reccomended me to get the better strong one that costed me more money, i said ok, once I put it up did noticed the minor holes, i was thinking it was normal, but then the ripping started ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, i called the company they sent me a replacement, I waited put it up in first week of march, it was during the two weeks, I go outside to sit in my yard, and noticed tiny holes, and the fabric its not the same as the first one, My husband said this is not the same fabric and its not going to last long again. I am so frustrated with this company. I had it, I Dont reccomended.
Website and ordering, always review your order before placing.
Finding replacement parts on their site is difficult. There are no direct links to most things on their website. When I did finally find something relevant to what I was looking for I was excited. Then when it came to the checkout process and reviewing my order, I found a $75 ground service fee for a replacement CUSHION. Not huge, heavy parts... A cushion. That's half the price of the cushion itself. Back to searching elsewhere. Sad.
