Superb food and beautiful healthy plants. Well worth a visit right now!

I just paid a lot of money for a cocoon chair and they sent the wrong colour even though I have sent them proof this isn’t the right colour.
I have been in tears as they refuse to admit it is the wrong colour.
The person I have dealt with was purely arrogant on the phone and not in the least helpful
What a disgrace this garden centre is and they should not be allowed to trade if they cheat people .
I am stuck with a garden chair that doesn’t match the furniture I have already bought in the same range .
I hope people don’t have any dealings with them as they are dishonest.

Went to exchange a faulty product but had no receipt and could not remember the day I purchased they refused to exchange even though it still had their label on. Could they use some common sense if I had stolen the product I would hardly choose a faulty one, finally got an exchange after I remembered that I had to order an extra one as there were not enough in stock. It ruins the whole experience and it will be as a last resort that I go in the future

The reviews aren’t at all good and always advertising for staff, a relation left there as they didn’t treat them nice. Such a nice place to visit but it feels like it’s gone so expensive and not the nice place it used to be to visit. Without good happy staff it’s not a nice experience to visit anymore

Visited courtyard cafe at Gate’s Garden centre my wife and I enjoy going here for something to eat I had the courtyard breakfast and she had the salmon The salmon came out with a brown light skin on it She said it had a twang to it like it wasn’t fresh my bacon was about 30% fat and the rest meat sadly to say we won’t be eating here again..

Bought garlic bulbs. Half of them were totally mouldy total waste of money

My Neice visited your store today Sunday 4th and purchased some items from the garden section ,on leaving the store the security alarm went off a member of staff ushered her back to till 2 to check on her items which were correct and paid for my Neice invited them to check her handbag which she emptied out there was a lipstick in it that had set the alarm off with the bar code still on it and Gates don't sell lipstick this was done in front of all the customers and 3 staff members around her ,she is not in good health at the moment and is receiving chemotherapy and was wearing a medical mask for her own safety what should of been a lovely day for her and a confidence builder turned into a nightmare she was a regular customer at this store as were all her family ,we will never enter this place again due to the stress and humiliation you have caused her with no apology, your staff should be trained how to treat your customers with civility and respect .

Hambletons butcher’s - awful food very very over priced! Could get better quality cheaper at Morrison’s I’m sorry but really not worth the price in taste nor quality I am really shocked at the bad quality of food they offer! Let alone the overpricing at the tills at the garden centre, shockingly bad will not ever never return 👎

If I could have given no stars I would.
A terrible experience today when it should have been a day of joy.
A trip out for my husband for his birthday, a meal and purchases. It all turned out extremely dreadful with really bad service and being accused of things that I wouldn't even know how to dream of.
Not only will I not be going again but it spoilt the day.
I certainly advise anyone to think twice before they enter.
As a business owner I wouldn't let my staff or myself treat others in the workplace or customers the way I have been treated today.

Charged double at the till for quite a few items. When we returned, we was only offered a credit note. A £60 credit note for a issue out of our control. All Christmas items a double the price compared to other shops / Garden centres

Poor return policy no refunds unless faulty !!!! Only exchange or credit notes given

I bought a corner sofa set and when it was delivered the table was damaged. Contacted Gates and sent photos of the damage. I have chased several times but have still not had table replaced or contact from them. Really bad customer service.

Every time we buy something from gardening sundries we find we have been overcharged at the till. Whilst the staff are always helpful it is not acceptable. Always check your receipt

Lovely garden centre, restaurant, gift shop etc, friendly staff all saying hello and asking if ok, only down side is it’s like climbing a mountain with a rollator and my mum on her scooter was scared with the slopes being so high, but apart from that it was a good visit

There is no customer care. I bought a piece of garden furniture which failed completely in the first few days of being errected and when I contacted Gates they did absolutely nothing to help. The item was expensive and I would have expected support when raising a complaint within days of taking delivery. Ignoring a follow-up email about the matter just adds insult to injury. Businesses like this don't deserve customers.

Staff are unhelpful, rude and don’t communicate with each other and the customer suffers as a result. This makes purchasing items that can’t buy online and are told to buy over the phone very difficult. Def wouldn’t use again.

Ordered a father's day gift online.

Was delivered when told it would be, in time which was good.

Box was slightly damaged but no issue to the product and this is likely down to the transport company turnbulls rather than gates.

It was great until I paid for my items and exited through the door. Alarms went off so I stopped and looked back at the till staff only to get barked at ‘can you come back here’ I took all my items back to the till only to find that one of the items I had brought had not had the security tag deactivated. I was then ordered to go back through the exit despite the cashiers mistake (fairly sure I would have been subjected to a body search if it had gone off again!)
No apology just a ‘you can go now’. Incredibly rude lady ruined an otherwise positive visit to Gates. I understand that security is a top
Priority in garden centres but don’t be so rude about it when it was clearly a mistake made by a cashier! This garden centre is well over an hours trip for me to get to and I’m sure I won’t bother again!

Surprised that reviews saying 'no dogs allowed in the cafe' have impacted the overall rating of what seems like a great little business. My online experience was outstanding!

I was trying to find a garden lounger, which was going to take a month to come from other websites, costing £93.

I found it on their website using Google for £79.99, taking 3-5 days for delivery. I phoned to check - you can press zero and immediately speak to a human!

Elvie in the 'Seasonal Department' was super helpful! Called logistics to check...times were accurate, delivery was free, and if I wanted they could put it on next day delivery, at no extra charge.

It duly arrived the following day, well wrapped and perfect! :o

The only thing even vaguely negative, was that the courier APC didn't update me. Using the tracking number Gates gave me, I was able to follow my chair online, as it meandered around the neighbourhood, giving me a two hour delivery window. I'd never heard of APC...but they actually give a real phone number and email address, in case of any issue.

I love being able to talk to actual normal humans, who do what they say they will. Will definitely buy from this company again!

Well we drove an hour to visit the garden centre but were shocked that dogs weren’t allowed in. Why have a dog exercise area and sell pet stuff if you don’t allow dogs in. I understand the farm shop or restaurant not allowing dogs but I have never previously visited a garden centre that has banned dogs.
