Hickorys Reviews 

We have been to the Adel restaurant four times now as it is very local. While the food concept sounds good, the implementation is not great. Not having been to the USA, I cannot compare, but I am sure they would not approve. Quantity over quality seems to be the motto, and if all else fails, add salt.
Surroundings—They have spent a lot of money upgrading the whole restaurant, and it needed it. It has an American theme, kind of like TGI Friday.
The restaurant replaced a very rundown standard pub, but the food was classic pub food at low prices.

The details:
Main food—Overpriced and oversalted/seasoned. The American cheese is not great. Across my four visits, I had two burgers (finished half of it after taking it apart), the salmon (needs chips, not tots) and the shrimp lunch deal was half eaten. All had the same problem of being overseasoned, killing any natural flavour of the main bits. Has anybody tried to eat the food? Can they dislocate their jaw? Everything had to be diss-assembled. They were also generally cooked too long, making them dry and hard.
Desserts - waffles on two visits. Both times, they were dry/overcooked and probably about 4k calories. I tried to look, but the menu sends you a wild goose chase.
Drinks - very well made. I would recommend them!
Veggie options are nonexistent. Granted, it's a smokehouse, but it has replaced a classic pub, making it unusable for vegetarians and vegans. I did not try the breakfast as I dreaded the portion size.
I do not doubt that people will miss the point of this review. I want it to succeed, but you need to look at the menu and how it's cooked. We are too polite as a nation to give you direct, honest reviews.
Kids—We took my 10-year-old, and she tried four different things and stopped halfway through. Each time, she had the same complaint as us: way too much salt, and where was the salad (like they teach them in school!)?
Now that the novelty has worn off, we have concluded that it's not for us and are unlikely to return.
We gave it a few goes, but when I can cook better at home, there really is no point. The average cost is £25 for a main and drink. There is a tip on top for the staff, who all seem to be nice.
There are two meat-eaters (Adults), two fish/veggie (Adults), and a 10-year-old. Cinema and popcorn are nice touches for the kids.
If you sorted the food out, it would be a winner in Adel.

Visited Hickory’s West Kirby. Fantastic experience from start to finish. All the staff were friendly and very welcoming. Had a wonky table and the waitress fixed it, even getting on her hands and knees! Very attentive service but not over the top. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a variety of dishes ranging from Pasta, Ribs, Burgers, Fish and Fajitas and each one was delicious. Will definitely visit again.

Visited this place many times and the food is always absolutely spot on and always friendly service. I visited today with a work colleague and the service we received was second to none, unbelievable service, friendly, food was delicious and we was also invited on a tour of the kitchen to see how the food is cooked and how the meat is smoked. Special shout out to Ryan for the unbelievable customer service and arranging that tour for us. Will without a doubt be Visiting again soon.

The food here was delicious, a family member had the platter for one, which is a mix of all sorts and is massive. I had the brisket which was tender, tasty and superb. The garlic mushrooms were delicious and the onion rings were ginormous.
The restaurant is large with an outdoor, covered seating area with heaters, a play area and a small indoor cinema for the kids.
The staff were pleasant and efficient even though the place was rammed with customers.
Great choice of barbecued meats and generous servings.

Shame to do this review as West Kirby and Wilmslow restaurants have been outstanding. BUT sadly on a visit to Hickorys alongside the River Dee in Chester I was horrified to see dirty dishes/glasses everywhere, poor customer service, servers shouting at each other and disgruntled customers complaining. We didn't hang around to try the food the atmosphere of the place was awful.

Food spectacular, service with a smile from all, fast and easy, and root beer in the UK..
The root beer is a bit too sweet and not got that chemical taste it should, but still ace.

Great food at an amazing price we had soo much chicken and the slaw was fresh and tasty

Visited Hickorys in Earlswood and was absolutely superb! Food, drinks and service exemplary, waitress also explained everything on the platter and gave us boxes to take away with us as we couldn't quite manage it all! Will definitely visit again

Eaten at Chester, Shrewsbury, Wrexham and Fleetwood and all been superb. Great service and great food!

Had a fantastic meal and excellent service at Hickorys in Chellaston,Derby today. Would recommend to anyone. We will definitely be returning.

Booked a large family booking for my daughter’s 21st birthday at Hickorys, Hutton, Preston. Very disappointed, only sat down 45 minutes later. Meals didn’t arrive together, first 2 meals arrived and by the time rest came 1 by 1 the first 2 guests had finished! Got some meals wrong, completely cremated a steak, the brisket is supposed to be the signature dish was too tough to eat. Poor service, no apology. Had the cheek to add meals to the bill that no one had ordered. Left all the dishes on the table for ages, where I had to pile them up my self to do my own daughters birthday cake.! Did not pay the cheeky service charge they add. I think it should be up to the customer if they want to tip or not! Such a shame ate here before with a smaller table and had a good meal. They can not manage large table bookings, so don’t offer it!

Recent visit to Hickory's with our extended family for my son's birthday in Huddersfield and honestly can't praise this place enough. We reserved a table for a large group and received a phone call from staff immediately to organise and set it all up as we had requested. The food was amazing, staff extremely friendly and helpful, great atmosphere and the kids loved the play area and indoor cinema room. The staff made such an effort for my little boys birthday too. We will definately be returning.

I would give the food a full 5 stars as it was brilliant, I booked a table for four of us, all adults. They also enjoyed the meal. I must say I had the burger and it really was the best burger I've ever had. So the reason I didn't give 5*is they put the tip on the bill. This is England and not USA. In this country a tip is voluntary and should not be forced upon customers.

Troy at the Wrexham Hickory’s. Took my sister and family out as it was her Birthday. Had my elderly Dad with us, and all staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Hard workers all staff, pleasant, patient, and professional, excellent service all round. The Receptionist when we arrived, went out of her way to make sure our table was ready quickly. She came to find us at the bar to let us know our table was ready. So professional and polite. Fantastic cooking from the Chefs, thank you for your hard work, meals were superb. In particular Troy went above and beyond to make our experience at Hickory’s rememberable, thank you Troy all my family adored you. So patient, warm and helpful, nothing was to much trouble, so professional but had a relatable personality .. my elderly dad adored him. Thank you Troy for making our Special family evening meal special. Will certainly be returning .. hoping we are lucky enough to have Troy again. xx 🍁🍂❤️

Absolutely frozen, don’t know if there were flooded out but we have been satin a booth and had cold air blowing through plugs and gaps in flooring. Food didn’t stay hot long and we will probably get flu now. If it needed drying out shouldn’t be open to public

We are long time lovers of the castle brom Hickory’s, so decided to go for dinner for our anniversary. We were seated quickly, and the food was served quickly too. Everything from the drinks, to the starters to the main was absolutely beautiful. The best southern fried chicken we’ve ever tried. The only complaint we had was we needed more of that bourbon gravy!! The portions were so huge we had to take a doggy bag home! And they were kind enough to bring out a complimentary dessert for the occasion. We honestly couldn’t have had a more wonderful dinner for our anniversary. The atmosphere and decor is great too- especially for country lovers! We wanted to mention that our waitress Poppy was absolutely wonderful, so kind and attentive! They are an absolute credit to the hickory’s branch! We will continue to visit.

Been a few times to hickorys today was Terrible, i went with my mom and son, my lad had the burger, me and my mom ordered 2 cowboy steaks well done , must say burger was fine but steaks were terrible, my moms was cremated and mine had blood oozing out of it, so sent mine back to be cooked a little more and i had my moms as she is elderly and there was no way she would of been able to eat it. Waited 20 mins for the steak to come back only rather than cook it just a little more they cremated this one to, she managed to eat some of it, but it was inedible, i asked for manager and asked him how chefs cooked the steaks, he explained flame grilled, so they do get black chargrill bits on them, i said theres chargrilled then theres cremated. He offered my mom something else to eat but she said no as she was totally put off. Also only one steak and size available on menu i find this poor for a smokehouse. Above all steak was not great wont be returning

** update, left a review on trip advisor, got a generic response asking me to contact them via email. Have done so and on the contact us on the website and still no contact. ** Went to Burton Green on Saturday, wake up Monday morning with what I can only assume is food poisoning now after speaking to others that have been recently and looking at the reviews!
I go to Hickory's a lot, not just Burton Green, but it has truly put me off, I don't think i will be returning for a long time and will be warning family and friends.
