I am extremely disappointed with Johnson Cleaners and their specialist skiwear cleaning service.
I sent in a ski jacket after noticing small oil marks on the sleeves. The jacket was otherwise in excellent, near-new condition. I specifically chose Johnson Cleaners because they are a large national chain offering a “specialist skiwear cleaning” service and I expected professional care.
Instead, the entire process has been chaotic and unacceptable from start to finish.
The branch initially had no awareness of the skiwear service when we arrived, despite this being what we were instructed to use over the phone when calling the same branch. After confusion in-store and having to locate their own website information, the jacket was eventually taken for cleaning.
Weeks later, we received a text confirming the jacket was ready for collection. My husband travelled over an hour each way to collect it (again, we are not local), only to be told on arrival that the jacket had been "destroyed" beyond repair during cleaning.
We were given:
No warning this had happened
No explanation of what went wrong
No photographs or evidence of the damage
No written confirmation of the outcome
We were simply told the item no longer exists.
We were informed we would be reimbursed for the cost of the jacket, however even this has not been properly handled. We were then asked to return to the branch again to process payment, despite already making multiple unnecessary long journeys and incurring travel, parking and congestion charges.
We are not local and cannot keep travelling back repeatedly due to poor internal communication and processes.
It has now been over two weeks since we requested proper written confirmation and clarification from customer service, and we have had NO RESPONSE whatsoever.
This entire experience has been deeply frustrating, costly, and stressful. A high-value item has been destroyed, and the handling of the situation has been completely lacking in transparency, urgency, and accountability.
I am now left without my jacket, unable to replace it as it was part of a matching set that is no longer available, and still chasing basic answers. The jacket had been worn ONCE before. So they essentially destroyed a brand new coat - I'd rather have it with the stains on!
I would strongly caution others before trusting valuable or specialist items to this service. Especially since the branch advised that multiple items have been "destroyed" using the same service with them.
And before the CS team say to email them, as they have in other complaint responses on here - I already have MULTIPLE TIMES with no reply over the past 2 weeks.

I spotted my jacket hanging on the rail and was offered it back then, but as it was creased, I asked for it to be re-pressed. When I collected the other items a week later, I acquired a jacket that was not mine, which will be returned tomorrow and still had some of my items missing. In future, it would be better to itemise the pieces left on the ticket.

When I picked my shirt back up there was a hole in the back. The shirt was over £300 and after back and forth with customer service they offered £25 compensation - when I disputed this as this is too low in relation to the cost of the product they have stopped replying. It has been almost two weeks now where they are refusing to reply or acknowledge my correspondence. Would strongly advise against using as not only do they damage the products but they refuse to communicate and deal with the issue in an appropriate way.

Used my local Johnson’s Self Service Wash facility to launder and dry a Duvet. Very easy to understand and operate. Opted for the stain remover and sanitiser. Quilt came out lovely, clean and fresh. However as this was my first time I was unsure what to expect when i collected my washing. Possibly a bar code, QR code to scan, something that meant only I could claim my washing.
The washer had stopped but my wash tracker stated it was still I progress. I did try the door but nothing. I waited for 15 mins and the tracker was still saying the same - washing in process. Confusing!
I rang the helpline and explained that I was still waiting. I was asked if I had opened the door, which seems rather obvious so I did again. The door opened. Apparently it was unlocked all the time and I didn’t know, as the lock was very hard to turn. I obviously struggled the first time I tried. The app needless to say still said washing in process.
Overall I was pleased with the wash result and outcome but shocked that anyone could have turned up and opened the door and stole the contents. Also I expected the app to tell me the process had ended and to open the door. An hour after I was home with the washing the app finally did tell me it had finished so that part of it was disappointing. I have since returned and used it again as it is very good. I now know what to do and expect. I would have given 5 stars had the end been more informative and accurate instead of confusing.

I dropped off a velvet tuxedo with Johnson at their Timpson store. The suit had no damage present, as confirmed at the drop off.
The suit has come back ruined with a large mark on the jacket of the suit which can’t be removed. I have contacted Johnson Cleaners over two days ago to raise the issue and have had no response at all. Terrible service and a completely ruined suit, leaving me with nothing to wear a day before an event.

Have used this shop for most of my life, not only does it dry clean well but it's alterations are brilliant, iv never had issues here ,staff always pleasant and friendly and they do so much more thandry cleaning would thoroughly reccomend them .

Mixed up the Suit jackets and trousers with someone else’s.
Then realised I was charged for something I never asked for and not even an apology from anyone.
Awful service and now back to Timpson across the road who run smoothly and professional might take a little longer but worth it, honest and also much cheaper.

Had a beautiful silk blouse only three months old sent in and it came back with three small holes in the fabric! Really shocked and frustrated as it cost between £300-400 and is now damaged. I escalated the issue and they sent it for an ‘expert analysis’ which came back with suspected moth larvae which is complete rubbish considering none of my other silk tops I have had for years have any moth damage and are all stored in the same place. Avoid this company as trusting their services has cost me! Experienced at the Bishop’s Stortford Waitrose branch.

I recently paid to have my wedding suit dry cleaned at Johnsons Cleaners in Ascot and when I returned to collect it a pair of trousers and the original hanger for the suit was missing, replaced with a cheap, plastic, disposable hanger.
I have been back to the store several times but each time I go in I get told to come back in a few days, where I have to explain the situation all over again to whoever is on the till that day.
The staff have been extremely unhelpful, offering a half hearted apology and telling me they understand my frustration but it’s not their fault and there’s not much they can do because they are “just working that day”.
I don’t understand how a dry cleaners that is part of a reputable chain can get what seems like a basic request to “dry clean two suits” so wrong. They have lost my property and now the responsibility for locating it seems to be left up to me, with no proactive action from Johnson’s to try to rectify their mistake. I reached out to Timpson customer support email earlier this week but still have not received a response.
Every time I have gone in to check if my missing clothing has been located, they do a lazy look through a drum full of clothes, which is concerning in and of itself, then tell me it’s probably been mixed up in someone else’s order so “hopefully they will bring it back in soon if they find it”. I am shocked that this has been said multiple times like it is just something that happens, and that has been the best solution they can come up with.
I am now extremely concerned that the trousers from my wedding suit have been lost forever, just because I took them here to get cleaned. I am sure that there will eventually be some form of minimal compensation offered for the original cost of the suit that will require a lot of time and admin on my side but I honestly wouldn’t care if they offered me 10x the original cost, it’s not going to replace the suit that I wore on my wedding day.
I wish I had never used this company’s services and I would advise anyone considering it to avoid at all costs.

I read in The Telegraph of a new Teddy Bear Spa service for treasured soft toys which had a bit too much TLC and were somewhat threadbare!
I took my large soft toy rabbit (almost 100 years old) to a local Waitrose store where he was then sent on to Johnsons Cleaners in Rugby for repair.
After almost three weeks I was contacted by Gary who informed me of progress and completion. Gary arranged a safe courier to get my treasure back to our nearest Johnsons. I am absolutely delighted with the result and can only highly commend Johnsons in Rugby for their care, attention and communication . It was all impeccable.

Took my coat in, paid £20 came back with dirt still on it and was told they cannot remove stains (whats the point then of dry cleaning?). Coat has dog or cat fur on it! I dont own a pet! Its bobbled more, has been in storage however checked over beforehand. Very upset I have pet dander allergy, so ruiend my £175 coat, now have to try and find a professional dry cleaner to sort the issues, dont bother taking your loved items here unless you want them back worse than they went in, so very upset.

I have been using Johnson for 20 years usually within the Waitrose stores. The last year the state of my suit trousers after being dry cleaned in Waitrose Oundle branch, has been nothing short of dreadful, tramlines creases, some look as if they haven’t even been dry cleaned, Waitrose couldn’t give a Fig! And Johnson think their above responding, to customer complaints, so you can both jog on I’ll be finding an alternative!! hopefully one that does the job, let’s face it £40 for 4 trousers, it’s not cheap. AVOID

I couldn't take my curtains to the usual Johnson Cleaners I use as their machine had broken. I then took the curtains (x3) to the branch in Morrisons (Goose Street). Given that they are black out curtains they had to send them off (I don't know where!). When I received the one of the curtains was stained at the top and really creased. However, they ruined a one of the double pinch pleat curtains. The plastic tracks in each pleat were loose and one had come out entirely. Cleaning cost £170 and the curtains ruined were over £900. I submitted a complaint and no one has responded. Would not recommend or use again.
Update: someone contacted me and I had to resubmit all photos and details I had already submitted to then be told I had to take the curtains into store. I am disabled and they are incredibly heavy. I submitted plenty of evidence to prove the incident happened. A company that not only ruins your items but is not disabled friendly. Avoid!
