I engaged this technician to service my medical laser system. Following the service, the machine later required manufacturer intervention.
During subsequent review, I became aware that certain servicing procedures for medical laser devices — particularly recalibration — require manufacturer-level access, specialist software, and authorised engineering credentials. I was later advised by both the manufacturer and an independent Laser Protection Advisor and insurance company that independent engineers do not have access to these functions.
laser-specific qualifications were not clearly displayed on the company website, which in my experience made it difficult to understand the scope and limitations of the service being offered.
My experience has highlighted how important it is for clinics to confirm qualifications, servicing scope, and compliance requirements with their insurer or Laser Protection Advisor before commissioning work on regulated aesthetic devices.
Without the correct qualifications your insurance is void
