The car rental was very customer friendly. Very accommodating when Picton Ferry cancelled our booking Mode Rentals transferred our booking to wellington so that we could continue our trip. I would have appreciated a Mode Rentals office in Picton so that I did not need to drive back to Christchurch. A third office on the South Island would be ideal. Ferry service is less reliable than I anticipated.

Be very careful when booking with Mode Rental. I have been trying to get my $480 security deposit back for four months. Every time I contact them, I get the runaround saying they will check or no response at all. It shouldn't take a third of a year to process a simple deposit.

Firstly, their price was ok. The initial service was ok. The car had 201,000km on it but it ran fine and looked ok.

We were however, extremely disappointed by their attitude towards us as a customer one we experienced an issue. We believe that they should have known that there was an issue with availability on the Interislander ferry. They should have told us this and could/should have offered us a solution AT THE TIME we picked up the car.

They did none of that.

Whate they did was, tell us that we could off hire early, on the north island (NZ) get a walk on ferry and rehire on the South Island. Oh, and whilst we land at Picton, their closest office to that was Christchurch! So we would have to get there ourselves!

They also advised that we should claim anything lost from our travel insurance.

Fortunately for us, we persisted with Interislander and after two cancellations and much back and forth by phone and turning up at the port, we finally got on a ferry, but this was very stressful to both my wife and I on what should have been a relaxing holiday.

I just took another star away just whilst writing this as it brings back the stressful feeling. Not actually sure that 3 is too many.

We hired a relocate van from Mode rentals. Online booking was easy, waiting for the confirmation was very quick. Then filled out the check-in online form was totally straight forward and very helpful at the other end when we went to collect the vehicle.
Customer service was quick, clear and very thorough. Vehicle was clean as expected.
At the end of the relocate customer service was exactly the same. I received my receipts on the day I returned the vehicle and was refunded my balance from the bond the next day. Great service from great staff at Mode Rentals. If you are looking for a relocate vehicle definitely give them a call, they do rentals as well.

Fantastic experience with Mode Rentals — the Toyota RAV4 I rented was in excellent condition, practically brand new. The pickup and return process was incredibly quick and seamless, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout.

Thank you very much Mode Rentals for the very pleasant experience using your rental services for our self drive exploration from Queenstown to Christchurch New Zealand. The vehicle was relatively new, clean and reliable. We spent more time enjoying the scenery along the way than worrying about our ride. The customer service level of the staffs we encountered at our pickup point in Queenstown and return point in Christchurch was a bonus. All nice friendly staffs. Kudos Mode Rentals! Keep it up.

Great service. Easy booking and easy check in. The online check in prior saved us a lot of time. The vehicles we hired were also really really great. We will definitely book with mode rentals again!

Easy and transparent rental. Car was very clean even it was already some years old.
Car was not super comfortable even if we booked a upper middle class SUV. Could expect better driver experience because we spent many hours to travel through NZ.

Had an excellent experience with this company. Collection from the airport was seamless, the vehicle was clean and in good condition. When a minor problem arose with the vehicle the assistance we received and the resulting customer service was excellent. Very competitive prices also.

Great rental, reasonable price, great staff I highly recommend this company

This was our first experience with Mode Rentals although we have relocated cars for many other companies. We will certainly use them again. They kept us fully informed at every stage of the process. Their website is very informative as regards vehicles and journeys available. Staff were outstanding - polite and professional. The car was exactly as we expected and had no problems. A pleasant journey.

The staff were friendly with advice and assistance. The car was great transport and we appreciated the free shuttle to and from the airport.
