I did my research first to ensure the letter I received from TransUnion regarding the data breach was legitimate and it was. I was concerned seeing all the bad reviews recently for this service and I... Toon meer

Scam website😭
What a dismal failure!
Was giving an activation for 2-years of free monitoring due to the TransUnion data breach. The website formatting is terrible, with awkward text boxes for inputs. After finally making it through the first 2 pages, the third page contained an error message saying to try again in a few minutes or to call. Waited a day and tried again with the same result. Called customer service. The site is apparently down and has been for a couple of days. Not a great situation for an identity monitoring service! The rep stated that it should be back up later today, but of course, it's not. TransUnion needs to hire more IT experts to: a) strengthen their security so they don't need to give out free monitoring, and: b) fix their websites in a more timely fashion.
Frustrating …
After reading these reviews I realize I’m not the only person who has issues with My True Identity. In fact had the same problem as reviewer named Cathrine Ross… identical issue. Customer service was unable to help. Taking my business elsewhere.

Difficult to work with
I went to the website provided after my info was involved in a security breach. I could not get into the site even using the code they sent. Finally called the customer service number. Talked to 2 people who did not speak good English. Was told to try to access the site on my phone and or using a different web browser. None of this worked. I think God was protecting me! I finally went directly to Experian and put fraud alerts on.
I wasted an hour on the phone. Though told I should try again later…I will not!!!!
Awful
Awful. The website is terrible in that even though I am verified by receiving a code to authenticate my account, the next time I log in, I get a msg my account has been suspended. So, I have to call customer service which is horrendous as they dont speak English fluently and keep on repeating everything. OMG, how are you supposed to trust this service?
How do we know they are trustworthy
I got a free two year from a company that was breached via email from 'airline' with a code and a link to TI. Went to TI website as instructed and it would not accept my birthdate, my email (only 8 char allowed?), my country or city. OK, so I'm thinking this is a bogus site. I look at the email domain... only partially legit so I start wondering if I got a clever scam email warning or ...? Made me glad I didn't proved any info. Saw below they wanted my SSN/SIN
Very traumatizing
I was offered this service after a data breach with a previous employer. The month I signed up my credit score dropped drastically. I called to ask why and was given a very traumatic experience of rudeness and run around including being hung up on. If they are supposed to be concerned about their customers should they not offer professional, courteous customer service?
It is obvious the people who are employed are scripted and do not speak English properly, and do not understand how their company works. I felt that talking to some of the characters that because I was a woman I was marginalized. Very traumatizing. DO NOT recommend
Awful experience
Received an activation code for a free year of monitoring due to a local data breach. Filled out name and email for log in. Could not create a password. Would not let me type in anything at all. I tried it from three different browsers. Tried from iPhone, iPad and laptop. Would not let me create a password. Called customer service and was given a new activation code. Still wouldn’t let me create a password. Could not type anything in the password bracket. On the call for 30 minutes with a guy who could not speak English and was clueless. Even asked me what phone number I used to call him. What?? He finally said I should speak to a supervisor and tried to transfer and I waited for 15 minutes of dead air and it disconnected. I am done with this idiocy.
What an absolutely mess of a service.
What an absolutely mess of a service.
1. Employer offer two years credit monitoring via myTrueIdentity. Tried and failed to create an account "Unable to verify identity". Had to call in. Prepare to be on hold for a long time. Be prepared to be assisted by someone with english as a third language. Be then prepared to answer questions about you financial history from decades past (ie address of the financial institute of your student loan). Was unable to enroll due to an address error with a financial institution, so once that was corrected, I was able to creat and access my account.
2. Two months later, try to login. Login successful, but apparently I am no longer an active subscriber. Repeat step one and call in. Why? Not sure ... will forward to account services. Account services connects after 15 minutes, only to suggest going back to customer service to reset password. (Not a password issue, and they passed me to account services). Account services provide a toll free number, which when dialled had been changed, and for $3.95 I can be connected to the new number.
3 Call back again. Get a different person for which I struggle to understand. Losing my cool now after being asked dozens of questions (only because I didn't want to release my SIN). 20 questions later (many of which I had to access my online banking to answer questions referring to past transactions) only to be told there is incorrect address information from one of my financial institutions (same error as the original which I had corrected). They are unable to verify my identity, so "no account for you"! They give me a website for transunion.ca to enroll into. This will be the portal to correct my address information (guess not good enough to change with the financial institute that had the original error). Of course, that site's Identity Verification System is "temporarily" down, so unable to create an account there. Customer service by phone has no idea why it's down, or for how long, and suggests I call the next day. (this is not a bad transunion review, transview is in no way associated with myTrueIdentity)
Not sure why my successfully created and accessible account just suddenly disappeared with an error of not having an active subscription. Not sure how my identity had been successfully verified online to create the account initially, and then my identity being questioned after the fact again. Especially having to verify my identity on more than one occassion over the phone with dozens of questions answered.
Seems sus ... they sure do gather a lot of info to access a service they don't easily want to provide.
Don't pay for it!
Extremely Disappointed with Service and Access Issues
I received two years of free identity monitoring with True Identity. While the first year went smoothly, the second year was a different story. After they updated their dashboard, I could not log in for three months. During this time, I had locked my credit to protect myself, but since I couldn’t access the dashboard, I was also unable to unlock it when needed. Despite repeated assurances that they were working on the issue, my account was eventually closed without my request. When I contacted customer service, they claimed my two-year period had ended; however, I still had seven months remaining.
This experience was incredibly frustrating. Reliable access is essential for identity monitoring, especially during emergencies, and True Identity failed to provide that. I would not recommend this service, even if it’s free.
Everytime I try to log in all I get is…
Everytime I try to log in all I get is a blank screen. When you call customer service you can't understand the person on the other end
Corporate "security" gets in the way of mediocre service.
I had a similar problem to those here. If you don't log into your account at least once every 30 days they suspend your account. In my case they offered 2 factor authentication but wouldn't accept the numeric code they emailed to me.
I called the number on the screen and a fast talking European woman answered first questioning the validity of my story then saying that they wouldn't unlock the account unless I provided them with my SSN.
Worst company ever
I called over 15 times and couldn't understand most of the reps. Problem still not resolved. Asked for a manager to call back and they won't do that. Worst company I have ever dealt with
I was always able to login to…
I was always able to login to mytrueidentity before and I received an email to login into my account and I was not able to login to it. I called and I couldn't understand on word the lady was saying and I wanted to speak to someone in the usa but no respond
Scammers!
Scammers!
When personal information was hacked, the company that was hacked offered mytrueidentity so that credit reports would be monitored. Mytrueidentity will not allow the person impacted by the hack to sign up for their credit monitoring service. Even though the company responsible paid for the service.
What a nasty scam to run. Get paid by a 3rd party, and deny service to the people that are supposed to be covered in the contract.
