HELLISH EXPERIENCE! Received different size from what I ordered - twice in a row from different states! Order processes must be dismal for this to reoccur! Had to hound for my delivery fee to be refunded as was Platypus dispatch errors. Although I insisted I did not want a Gift Card as never want to reorder through them again in my life (!) they refused - inflexible & no conflict resolution within this company at all. I have now received my Gift Card & it is for a lower amount than what I paid for! Still waiting for this to be addressed 4 days later - no reply even! I myself am in customer service and I am astounded by the complete lack of competence or resolution. Awful time wasting experience! Very telling they ‘guide’ you to not rate or mention customer service in the review panel :(

Was exited to receive my shoes
Was exited to receive my shoes, then i opened up the box only to find out that the shoes were obviously worn and dirty. Also I opened up the second box and those shoes were also dirty and clearly worn. This is not what customers want to pay for!! These guys suck.
Shocking! No professional antics at all!
After taking the payment for a pair of timberlands I got they email and say they don't have them in stock 🤬 like seriously get professional because as it stands you as a retailer are far from that! And to make it worse it seems this is an ongoing issue! Shocking! And why wasnt the option of getting sorted when stock was back in??? Because you are taking the money instantly? So it's only fair that the money be returned INSTANTLY! not 3 4 working days!! Yeah na thats the last time I will shop with this retailer, gross antics!
Be careful before buying from Platypus!
I am at a loss to explain what happened in regards to me writing a very positive review about PLatypus Shoes, that they asked me to do. The review was abot 3 sentences long, nothing alarming whatsoever, i simply stated that my shopping experience with them was, and always has been very good, however; they deemed this to be inappropriate? I will never leave them another positive review again, and i will ensure that everyone i know that buys from them will know about this. Such a shame????
Got scammed
Bought some shoes on sale (a really good discount) they were white and I normally wear black so I grabbed some socks to match.
They then cancelled the shoes and sent just the socks which made it a terrible deal with shipping, I went to their site to try and cancel the whole order before it shipped and their bot said they cant cancel orders (even though they just cancelled the bulk of my order), so I tried their contact form and never got a reply. The site says I can return them but thats no help when I'm getting charged for shipping either way, I can keep my now expensive socks or I can spend a bit less and get nothing.
Feels like I got scammed... put up a really well priced item to get some addons then cancel the discounted item and keep the normal priced sales. When cancelling partial orders its common practice to reach out and ask the customer about the remainder of the order or at the very least be contactable.
Platypus Albany
Platypus Albany. One of the staff was on their phone WHILE working and won’t acknowledge their customer. The staff was a woman with blue hair. We we’re making eye contact and she was trying to ACT BUSY on her PHONE while ‘WORKING’. The other staff was a man and he was the only one who acknowledged us and I appreciate him for that. Before everything happened, they were playfully throwing something at each other while customers were roaming around. The woman was very rude and should know how to act nicely especially when she applied for a job that faces customers in a daily basis. I would appreciate if you guys do something about this.
Bought shoes off website
Bought shoes off website. Too small. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was the rude attitude of someone at the Riccarton store that told me he wasn’t going to check other stores when I rang for correct size because he was busy. He said ‘yes I can, but I’m not because I’m busy’. I contacted platypus through their website to give feedback and I never received a reply from them. Extremely disappointing service.
Adidas campus
Bought a pair of trainers online frm their Auckland store-wrong size, took them to Northlands Papanui, they got the pair I needed from another store delivered to my place and dealt with the ones I exchanged ALL with a lovely smile, love them def be back
Had Nike Air max's not even 7 month
Had Nike Air max's not even 7 month, only wore to work and I have a desk job as I'm a designer. The shoes fabric is ripping apart as well as a seam.
They rejected my claim as it apparently isn't a manufacturing fault but its not for for purpose either!!
Told me to write to fair trading act if I disagree but this costs money!!!
Very positive experience
I must say after a negative experience at the store in TTP I didn't have high hopes of good service at Marion but Georgia has changed my opinion on that. They provided exceptional and friendly customer service. I highly recommend the Marion store!!

Just plain rude they not only laugh at me but made me feel uncomfortable from the time I walked into your store. I just want some shoes.
Poor Returns Policy
Purchased a pair of Vans. Wore for three weeks while overseas and they split open. Returned to Platypus Shoes but as they were purchased more than 30 days ago they will not exchange. They claimed as the split was not on a seam it is wear and tear. Tried to discuss with client services but have no number to contact.
Online order delivered poorly
Online order delivered looking like it was 10 years old.
The box was smashed, the packaging inside was ripped and looked like they had picked it up off the floor. The shoes were fine but everything else was stuffed. When I spoke to a "Simon" online, her just said return it. When I mentioned I couldn't as it was a gift I had to give in a few days, I never got a response from Simon again.
Wrong shoes sent, no refund.
My mother ordered light up Sketchers for my son from Christmas 2024, and imagine her surprise when Platypus sent her a pair of plain Sketchers school shoes.
By this time, it was only days before Christmas and the "customer service" (and I use that term loosely as there was no service provided) representative I spoke to was rude, beligerent and offered absolutely no help or solutions other than "yeah, I guess your son isn't getting his Christmas present this year, hahaha".
My mother tried to return the shoes in store, however they wouldn't accept the return, so we organised a return and posted them back and she went to another store to purchase them. It is now EIGHT MONTHS LATER and she is still to receive her refund for the light up shoes that Platypus did not send.
Online order
Ordered online and then got an email 30mins later saying that they were out of stock and a refund has been processed and I would receive the funds in 3-5 business days. Check online again and see the same product still showing as available. I wonder how many people have ordered and then been refunded. Meanwhile that cash is sitting in their account. Seems a little odd to me. Disappointing.
SOUTHLAND- DIY SERVICE BECAUSE STAFF ARE USELESS!
I was in the Southland store today when the sales assistant took ages to approach, gave me the wrong colour shoes before checking if that was ok abd walking away.
The next one in the shop claimed the display shoes get rotated weekly even though I felt a drastic size change in my feet.
I was told they had no more size up fit me in any colour after they told be how hard they were to get a hold of.
I asked her to write the style, she said take a photo.. offered me no info about when new stock was coming and barely said bye! So rude and unhelpful! Totally unprofessional - both girls. I was disgusted and would never buy from there! .
Worn
I purchased a pair of Vans Knu Stack from Platypus Shoes Online.
Everything seemed ok, customer service and speedy delivery.
I opened the shoebox and one of the shoes had been worn and had fluff from socks inside it.
The shoe was obviously a display shoe at one stage and the shoebox had crushed, yellow stained with age white tissue paper.
This is out of line, offensive, disrespectful and unhygienic.
Customer service have not responded, therefore, the matter will be referred to the Department of Fair Trading.
Do NOT do business with these dishonest people.
You'll only end up disappointed with used, worn shoes

Everything was great until you submit the order. Address entered correctly, but not printed on label. Paid for express delivery - 7 days and counting. Not a courier problem. If you want your item - shop elsewhere
