Had a meeting with Sally Manning at Porterdodson to discuss wills and LPAs for myself and my wife. From the very first meeting we both felt at ease and comfortable in Sallys office… we went on to have detailed discussions on what we actually wanted… everything was clearly and easily explained to us … again without any undue pressure. Over a couple of meetings, plus phone calls and emails… we were very happy to proceed with our wishes. Again everything cleared explained including costs and timescale. We felt we had been listened to and our expectations were duly met. Very happy to highly recommended these solicitors and Sally in particular.

We liked using my mother's own solicitors when she passed away to help us through the probate process.

My only critique would be communication...they were awful about providing any form of process timeline or current status.

It took over 18months for something that should be fairly straightforward, but i have no idea if that was the government's ridiculous requirement or inefficiency by the solicitor because we were never told what was going on unless we specifically asked for it.

Other than better communication, which is something easily remedied, I have no complaints.

Overall, our experience with Porter Dodson was a very positive one. The staff were friendly, approachable and helpful throughout the process, and they responded promptly whenever any issues arose. We always felt that they were doing their best to move matters forward.

There are, however, a few areas where we feel the service could be improved. In particular, more frequent updates on the progress of both the sale and purchase would have been appreciated. Even when there is little to report, regular communication provides reassurance that matters are progressing.

We also found the electronic document system to be a little clunky and not especially intuitive to use. In addition, some of the documentation contained what appeared to be cut-and-paste errors. These may not necessarily have originated with Porter Dodson, but they did make certain documents confusing and required clarification.

Another area that caused some frustration was the handling of the freehold management pack. It seemed to be one of the last outstanding items to be addressed, whereas we felt it could have been requested much earlier in the conveyancing process. In our view, this was one of the main reasons why the exchange of contracts went right down to the wire. As a result, organising removals and arranging for utilities and other services at our new property became more stressful than it needed to be.

Despite these points, our overall impression of Porter Dodson is very favourable. They are a professional firm with courteous and capable staff, and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone looking for a solicitor to handle a house sale or purchase.

Reena Raval made selling our house stress free and straightforward, despite the circumstances. From start to finish, Porter Dodson were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly efficient. Reena's and Beckie's communication was excellent – we were kept informed at every stage, and any questions we had were answered quickly and clearly.

Reena dealt with the land registry in correcting the title on my house which proved somewhat complicated. She responded to communications promptly and got the job done to allow a sale to go ahead.
