Due to my old QNAP NAS drive not…

Due to my old QNAP NAS drive not working I needed to get my old drive repaired or purchase a new drive.
I emailed SPAN, supplier of the original NAS drive, asking what my options were regarding either repair or replacement. The reply, from Lucas Okrasiak, was very prompt and informative and with the information given I decided that buying a new one was my best option. I placed the order a little later that day and this was noted by Lucas who arranged to deliver the drive later the same day. He also gave me some tips on how to set the drive up and what to do should it not work. Setting it up was very straightforward thanks to the advice from Lucas.
All in all SPAN has been an amazing company to deal with. The staff are knowledgeable who go above and beyond to help their customers. Outstanding service from both Lucas and SPAN.

An IT support

A truly incredible experience. Somewhat felt like I have my own IT support around the corner.

At 09.00am I had a failed drive on my NAS and by 12.30 this was replaced with a brand new.

Lucas been fantastic from initial chat to final delivery. Great service, communication and knowledgeable to offer the best possible solution.

Had an excellent experience with the team at Span.com. They were reactive, gave great advise and customer support was very reactive. I would absolutely advise to go with Span.com, best expert in the field hands down.

Great service.

I purchased a QNAP NAS TS-h973AX from Span and a load of SSDs and SATA drives. The guys at Span set it all up in the required raid configuration. And Lucas was particularly helpful in getting the delivery out before Christmas as we were concerned about the export complications of 2021. With 10gb ethernet and a load of SSDs I now have a kick ass editing server. Thanks Span.

Additionally, that the delays have been caused by widespread logistics problems caused in January onwards from changes in freight, tariffs between trading blocks, as well as current import/export backlog that has emerged from it internationally (outside of our control). We advised you to get in contact with the courier company on your site in tandem with ourselves on this side, in order to attempt to get this delivery shuffled up the current backlog. We appreciate that the delay has been excessive, but this has truly been a matter beyond our control, is something impacting millions of businesses in early 2021 and feel that your 1 star, despite 'everything working fine, good prices, good website and webstore' might have been quite harsh. However, again we appreciate that you have had a long wait on your order. Thank you nevertheless for choosing SPAN.COM and have a lovely week.

Why SPAN blocked my login?
Why SPAN doesn´t answer my emails?

Scheduled/Agreed delivery: 8th of January 2021.

It is today overdue by 67 days.

I sent you one email on the 15th of February, after 37 days overdue asking for the refund.
Span answered: "Rest assured we have filed a complaint with TNT against this order and a few others like it. We are doing our best to get to the bottom of the issues causing setbacks.
We will email you at the soonest opportunity, hopefully, with positive news".

That didn´t happen again. Not a single word in 30 days from SPAN, after a 67 days delay. What kind of company are you? Do you feel OK with this?

At this point, It's not something to negotiate or SPAN to decide what is best for the client or suggesting a client must keep waiting after a 67 days delay.
It is my company legal right to ask for a refund after you failed to deliver a product in 67 days.
Just be a professional. Assume your responsibility as a seller!

So, This is the last email I'm sending to SPAN before I start legal action, if you don´t transfer my company money back.
Please cancel the order 81959 and refund my company, otherwise I will start an official claim in UK consumer protection, from a product paid on the 19th of December, before BREXIT.

Answer this email clearly. Will you refund? YES or NOT?

However, it is worth highlighting that this parcel, as originally discussed with you, appears to have been lost in transit with the courier, unfortunately at the same time as the 2021 Jan courier and logistics issues that have transpired from changes in the rules of import/export between UK/EU. The process from claiming damages from the courier is still on going, as has been highlighted to you previously, and we have been met with difficulties on this that the TNT UK team maintain cannot be resolved on this side . We are none the less pushing as hard as we can on this and have every intention of getting your refund to you as soon as the courier company official state that the parcel has been lost. We apologise for this unforeseen delay and nonetheless thank you for choosing SPAN.COM.

Lukasz was excellent to work with

Lukasz was excellent to work with, very communicative and helpful with all my questions. I was a bit frustrated with the logistics and shipping however. I appreciate that this is not necessarily SPAN's fault however. From a product point of view, I wish I had NOT purchased the Thunderbolt 3 add on card. It's incredibly buggy and I ended up wasting many hours with issues related to the connections not "waking up" when my Mac wakes up from sleep, T2E failing completely, etc. This appears to be a very widespread problem and is all over the forums. I ended up purchasing a Thunderbolt 3 to 10Gb converter and a 10Gb switch. Now the connectivity is very stable as expected, but the money spent on the card was a complete waste. Finally, the QuTS Hero version with ZFS is much different from QTS. I've used QNAP's for many years and while the interface is familiar, the performance was horrible initially. I watched videos from one of your colleagues on YouTube and while he used the Cache in "All I/O" mode this is a HORRIBLE idea. Even with very fast NVME drives it created massive bottlenecks in performance with high latency. Switching to "random I/O" resolved these issues, but with my workloads being mostly sequential it is currently not of much benefit. There is also very little documentation available about ZFS and setting appropriate record size/block size for shared folders depending on workloads. 128KB being default is fine for larger files, etc, but for Download station and VM's this is not ideal for performance. I spent many hours researching this and finally set this up correctly with different settings depending on the shared folder purpose. Again, not necessarily a SPAN issue, but in my discussions with Lukasz I had asked about proper setup for performance and would have appreciated a little more guidance and awareness on the differences prior to purchase.

Everything works fine ..

Everything works fine ... good prices, good website and webstore....
But terrible to.take.care about transportation issues ... SPAN.COM only wants to.sell...
If.your parcel.or.order is.stuck.on a.place 2.months ( happens to.me...) I.have to call the transportation company to.get info, make.complains about the delay on the service...etc...
SPAN.COM IS NOT A TRUST COMPANY

..they don't care about customers problems.

Update news: I payed a SSD .. i payed taxes for import ... and SSD is Missing ....

Superb!

In a word - AWESOME!. Absolutely outstanding service from Span. They engaged quickly, great communications throughtout, kept me informed of every step of the process. NAS was dispatched when they said it would be, and arrived on time.

Order was extremely well packaged, arrived undamaged and of course worked "out of the box". Unit configured exactly as requested. And the free configuration service is a boon - no need to fit drives, configure, create RAID array and a volume. A seemingly small step that is the icing on the cake for superb service - the device worked out of the box with no time required by the customer.

Very pleased owner of a new NAS. I cannot recommend Span highly enough.

Fabulous product but very difficult to set up

Fabulous product, delivered very quickly, but mind-blowingly difficult to set up and get going. Have spent a wasted week trying to wrestle it to the ground. Would be good if Span offered technical support to assist new users.
