You sent me reminders by SMS and email that my policy would auto renew. And that i could check the quote etc and make changes onlinr. But you do not provide any online means to check which payment card is registered via your website. ...e.g. card X1234 is registered. No help at all. I had to call your helpline and the agent pushed me to accept a new quotation which he emailed me and I could then set up a new card payment on line. He didn't offer for me to set up the card payment over the phone. All very cumbersome for the customer with no focus on the customer experience. The agent was reluctant to pass on my feedback. I was left feeling that my custom didn't matter.
The reply posted by SCD completely ignored the key issue that I raised regarding the lack of ability to confirm payment method and change it. Clearly a whitewash response.

I received a revised response from SCD 2 weeks after my review. This time they actually read my original review and their response included "We fully acknowledge your key point regarding the inability to view or manage the payment card registered against your policy online. We understand how important it is for customers to be able to confirm which card is set up for automatic renewal and to update those details easily without having to contact us.‌"
If they change their website then I may improve my rating in addition to that in this review.

Standard cut and paste responses are never acceptable.

I was contacted by sportsCover Direct, well before the renewal was due. Which if anything needed to be changed I had plenty of time to advise them
The new renewal price was very good, and I did not need any changes to be made.
They advised me of the date payment would be taken, so I was able to make sure the money was available for them.

When you want cover for offshore sailing at 72, with the usual crop of medical conditions, things are not always easy. My previous insurer simply would not cover me to do something I've been doing for over 50 years.

The application was quick and easy to complete and the quote was instant. I was absolutely flabbergasted to get annual cover from Sportscover Direct for around £250. I thought, once they had reviewed my medical history, they might up the premium. No - the schedule came through with all conditions accepted and covered.

I’ve used them twice now. I’ve never had to make a claim, but they seem okay for niche travel insurance. I wouldn’t really recommend their equipment cover tho. I called to explain my situation, but the person on the phone just kept reading the policy back to me and clearly didn’t really understand what I was asking. To be fair, my situation was rare. so they may not have had the answer straight away. But surely they could have done something more helpful than just reading the policy to me.

Really simple process and gives you multiple great options for covers, the cheapest I've found.

The cover is fit for purpose and automatic renewal is helpful.

The process to apply for travel insurance was simple. I made a mistake on the information submitted and a quick telephone resolved matters with the policy documents updated

All auto so no issues except price hike that was just tolerable. I’ll look more carefully at the next renewal and may go elsewhere if cost increases by anything like this again

Good information available on the website, which directs the customer straight to the areas of interest for their particular sports insurance cover. No nonsense approach to ensuring that any reasonable health conditions, that are covered by existing medicament or treatments, are included, without need for detailed questioning or unnecessary exorbitant additional fees. Highly recommended, especially for the fit older person who enjoys an active sporting life.

I have been with SCD for a number of years, and they remain one of the most competive on the market, with less than the normal industry excesses. However as the 3 star review suggests, there is a caveat. Although I did renew, the prices have jumped by around 20% and the cover is becoming less comprehensive, especially regarding clubs kept and stolen from a vehicle, which is diasppointing. I would have been happier to pay the extra 20% had the cover stayed the same but unfortunately it hasn't. So less for more now seems to be SCDs mantra.
