ONLY helpful BEFORE you sign

The agents were ONLY unbelievably helpful BEFORE YOU SIGN THE CONTRACT. After that they just disappeard. One area manager even tried to violate one clause in the contract, trying to make a view for potential buyers 3 months prior to the end. We reported that we need small fixes for the lights and NOBODY CAME. Horrible service. Complete fraud.

Sold and bought our properties with Stirling Ackroyd at the Egham branch,
I really can’t praise them enough, from Day 1 Mark was at our property explaining everything in great detail. kind friendly and Very helpful. Then it was Harry who again was so helpful friendly that we dealt with mostly, very professional, he really was on the ball and nothing was too much trouble for him. He Mostly looked after us all the way through it .He was always willing to go above and beyond to help us in anyway.
Every time I phoned I was greeted with a friendly and helpful approach.
The sale of the property and the buying of our new property was made so much easier by having the trust in these guys. I never felt anything was too much trouble for them.
Also Ben Was a delight to speak to and very professional.
Johnathan again, was very professional and assertive and reassuring.
What a great team,

I highly recommend sterling Ackroyd and these guys made our experience as stress-free as possible.
Can’t thank them enough.

***RENTERS BEWARE***

I am posting this review as a sincere warning to anybody thinking of renting a property with this grossly incompetent organisation.

At the end of me and my partners tenancy we were disgusted to be informed that we would be only be receiving just over £100 of our £1600 deposit.

The reasons stated were that the flat was left in an 'uninhabitable' condition. A statement which was completely at odds with the check out report. We were also informed that the place was 'riddled' with bed bugs. These bed bugs were supposedly situated within the sofa bed, one small issue (I'm being generous using the word 'small' here) is that we were never informed that the sofa was a sofa bed and never used it as such.

This means that we moved into a property with a sofa bed that wasn't declared as such that was supposedly filled with bed bugs from a previous tenancy.

We were charged over £1000 for fumigation services, sofa removal and purchase of a new sofa.

So, this bombshell was dropped to us in a cold and informal email shortly after our tenenacy and we were informed that if we disagreed with their assessment we would have to follow the arbitration process.

Me and my partner spent countless hours on this form providing irrefutable proof of lying, gaslighting and pointing out numerous instances of gross incompetence over the 12 months we had the displeasure of dealing with this trash company.

The arbitration process was an unnecessary and extraordinary mentally taxing process which I will never forgive Stirling Ackroyd for making us go through.

I'll end on some good news. The arbitration process was a success and we were found in the right and recovered the majority of our deposit.

I really hope that someone reads this and decides to steer clear of renting from this company.

I'd actually love more than anything if someone we had the displeasure of corresponding with during this process is reading.

Thanks for returning OUR money (under duress) we're going on a nice holiday x

I rented a property through their…

I rented a property through their Streatham agency and would advise anyone to ensure that they are very very careful. The landlord lied about charges when I left the property and they did nothing to help in the dispute. After asking me for the evidence which I provided they still did nothing. Be very wary and the are saying that I cannot get the money owed back

I am writing a review for David Harvey…

I am writing a review for David Harvey in particular at Stirling Ackroyd, rather than Stirling Ackroyd. We were having some issues with this company that were not being resolved and it was becoming increasingly frustrating. David happened to pick up the phone when I called in again and even though the issue we were having was absolutely nothing to do with him, he was brilliant - not only did he take my issue seriously, he dealt with it immediately and also followed it up until the issue was actually solved. We had been having problems resolving the issue since April/May, I tried to speak with 4 other people, but made no progress and David resolved it within 1 day. Not only are we really grateful for the issue being solved, but the speed and manner with which it was done - he was polite, calm, efficient and just a really nice person to deal with - thankyou!

Don’t do business w these guys as…

Don’t do business w these guys as landlord as they will pursue you for renewal fees for rollover contracts whether or not you agreed to them
They hide them in the small print and will harass you w a debt collector too
They want money for old rope- so unethical

Polite and personable

David was polite and helpful and importantly struck the right balance between being personable and fostering a good relationship and being to the point with answering queries. Not only did he sort my viewing times out rapidly, he also recommended another property that I actually liked even more than the first, his colleague who picked up on the lead was also really helpful during the viewing tour that David organised.

If you need water, avoid Stirling

This agency has left me without hot water or any water pressure at all for nearly 4 weeks now and have refused any kind of compensation or an update regarding a solution. The property is uninhabitable.

Bad management service and very slow

Usually I never write a review, but this agency is let me down many times with propriety management .
I been with many agencies the worst I deal with it it’s Stirling Ackroyd.
I rent a house with them around 3 years.
And due this 3 years 4-5 times they changed property management and they didn’t notice the tenants, when I have problems in the property and try to contact the property manager they left the company.
Also it’s very slow service if you have in issue in your property when you phone them they will ask you to write in email, and they respond to your email after one week .
However any issues in your property it takes more Thant 4 weeks to sort if you are lucky.
My advise from my experience if anyone have a chance with another agent please avoid Starting Ackroyd.

I had a very disappointing experience…

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I understand that humans can make mistakes, however when i approached them with my complaint they dismissed it without even acknowledge any points i had raised, as if they didn't care. It was extremely upsetting. They have passed me over to the CEDR and i will be taking the complaint to them. I hope something positive can come out of this rather negative experience.

Undervalued property after their initial "the property is worthless" valuation

Shocking. Run away if they come to value your property!

My experience with Stirling Ackroyd Surveyors property evaluation service, who acted on behalf of HSBC, was shockingly unprofessional. The evaluator arrived late, dressed inappropriately with trousers around their bum and not being friendly. The initial evaluation inexplicably valued the property at ZERO, displaying a severe lack of competence and attention to detail.

Despite providing further documentation, Stirling Ackroyd's response was to undervalue the property without clear justification, undermining our confidence in their process. The lack of transparency and accountability throughout was deeply concerning. For anyone considering HSBC for property evaluation through their agents Stirling Ackroyd Surveyors, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a more professional and reliable service.

Update. Look at their AI-generated response. They can't even write a proper, more human response. So robotic. Just appalling.
