I'm not sure where to start

I'm not sure where to start, but the shady business dealings showed up in the very beginning when I received my first copies of my published book. I had several pages with misspelled words. Even when I shared the manuscript that I sent with no misspellings they still wanted to charge me before they would make corrections. We got through that hiccup and I initially received royalty payments for 2 quarters. I recently called them to see why I had received no royalty payments for the last several quarters. I was told there had been no sales. I know for a fact there were sales. But the Rep claimed they weren't showing any sales.
A word to the Wise! Pay close attention to the experiences spelled out by the Authors.

I published my book in 2003 and loved…

I published my book in 2003 and loved the work they did but getting my royaltys has been a pain and still have not received it. Not sure if I'm going to continue with them.i can't even get into my account with them either.

So many things went wrong

So many things went wrong. I was promised a lot of things that I paid thousands of dollars for that I didn't get. I was promised 100 press releases and none were done. I was promised a website but none was made. I was shocked when I found out that the amount I would get paid for book sales was a fraction of what Amazon pays and I could have uploaded the book there for free instead of paying Xlibris thousands of dollars. Then a salesman tried to get me to pay $10,000 for marketing, which they probably would not even do, even after getting the money. No, the entire experience was extremely upsetting. Publishing my book with them was a huge mistake. But we all make mistakes, right?

I am a author

I am an author, and I did purchase your services for the services needed to really get more work professionally mastered as it should be. However, as the comments I've seen, it was not done after all the effort and time I, myself work with Xlibris to achieve this. I've even question them about various poems that I know I submitted that when missing. I haven't receive one penny from any of the publishing of my book with Xlibris.

Writers steer clear

This vanity publisher published the book of a friend of mine, who put her heart and soul into a fairly personal story, but it's barely legible as there appears to have been no editing proceds on this book at all!
Every single page has spelling or punctuation errors, sentences repeated or terrible spacing, the wrong formatting and so on.
It's such a shame, and she told me that every time she contacted Xlibris for an edit, they tried to charge her £400! I'm absolutely gobsmacked. I could do this entire book fpr her at this rate as a friend (and writer/editor), so I'm urging fellow authors to please steer clear unless you have an absolutely diamond clean draft to begin with.
Just use Kindle Create/kdp for less of a headache.

They're a vanity publisher

They're a vanity publisher, if you pay them they will publish anything. 1700 copies sold would put you on the bestseller list of that's all you want and you can buy them yourself for what they'll charge you for marketing. Not sure if it's because they're american and their reading writing comprehension is garbage or what happened but their book building team can't seem to follow a point form list of edits. I gave very specific instructions to follow about my formating for my book of poetry but continually sent the same edits without following my instructions till "I went over the number of revisions" which even in saying that they couldn't tell my how many I was allowed to begin with. I am now fighting for a refund and to pull my own book from print to keep my copyright. Use blurb or anyone else, It's been 3 years of fighting and I'm threatening to get my lawyer involved.
*(Edit) Xlibris I have been trying to get in contact with my marketing team as suggested, but you responded faster here than with a direct email please have Charles call me back to arrange my refund. You couldn't deliver the agreed upon package to any degree close to acceptable and I have asked to change the marketing campaign multiple times without response.*

I am pissed and gravely disappoined with Xlibris.

I have spend almost $18,000, since 2013, publishing with Xlibris. I published my third book in January. Their copy editing was a nightmare, every time the manuscript came back to me it had so many new and different errors that I could not keep up with the corrections. The printed copy still had errors. They set the price on the hardback so high, I cant sell them. I paid $1200 for two reviews and the Bookmad Magazine, 8 months ago and have not heard a word about them. Even though I have asked repeatedly for an update. I paid $600 for the Hollywood Coverage and they slaughtered my book. I suggested some changes, and they refuse to revise it. They just give my lip service saying it was done by a Hollywood professional. I have asked for a refund to now avail. They don't respond. They claim 100% royalties, but that is BS. I only get $2 a book when sold through Xlibris and amazon.com. I feel ripped off.

They are literally stealing my royalties

I have already left a review of Xlibris almost a year ago, but now they have scammed me even more.
So I mentioned that they would not pay my royalties because they refuse to pay to non-US accounts. Well, despite me setting up an American account with an online bank (Wise), they refused to pay because the bank "is not physically located in the US". I mean... come on?!
Anyway, so now I have quit my contract and asked them to send me a check with all the money that they owe me since 2018.
They told me that I had no open royalties, that all had been paid via wire transfer. I checked my Wise account and I can assure you, I have not received a single cent.
So, on top of everything else, they are now literally ROBBING me.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY

SCAMMERS

They dont tell you the whole story when you first speak with them. Constant pressure salesmen. They charge the earth. This was my book but I had to pay THEM for everything. I consider them scammers

Travis Black does things right!

I enjoy catching people doing things right. Travis Black at Xlibris is one of those people. He has come through for me on every occasion of my need. Sometimes he knows my need before I do and makes suggestions showing me the benefits of something, not just the features. He is always happy when I send him money, but never loses interest between times! He is an excellent representative for Xlibris, and an excellent representative for me TO Xlibris. Every company needs a Travis Black today. He knows about Life Time Value (LTV) in an age when most know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. (Who do I talk to—to see that he gets a big raise?) I’m working on my third and fourth books with Travis now and we both are ready for more together.

Xlibris - Is the Author Merely Revenue?

I give Xlibris/Author Solutions, Inc. 2 stars for an actual physical book that looks professional (and for the help of one person who helped me get the book to the publication stage).

However, my faith stops there. If there is an explanation, I will amend this report.

From experience, I have developed a very strong feeling that Xlibris' focus is on revenue from the sale of packages to its clients. I say this because I paid thousands of dollars to Xlibris, including a signup package for 100 percent royalties, and the royalty of $7-plus per book, that I was told I would get shrivelled to $2.50, then to 85 cents per book. The company's legitimacy was, understandably suspect. I have no problems, whatsoever, with posting the cover of the book to show that his review is from an actual customer of Xlibris).

Secondly, a marketing member of Xlibris/Author Solutions contacted me to tell me that my book was being given top priority by the company's reviewer team, and, for another $7,000, I could take advantage of the special status my book was being given. I did not pay this, as I was too suspicious of the company's actual focus (even though I had not yet discovered the dramatic royalty shrinkage from 7-plus dollars to 85 cents).

My book is amazing and I’m grateful for…

My book is amazing and I’m grateful for that. However the marketing manager I’ve dealt with Unfortunately muddled up a lot of things leaving me very anxious and upset. Yes it’s been rectified thankfully but it’s left a bad taste. I was also never told what was happening and no payment transactions were given so I lost track of my purchases. For a huge professional company I am disappointed. I would like to see a big improvement in the future with dealing with them. But I love my book.
