I found Xlibris to be professional
through each stage of the publishing process.

I have been very unhappy with Xlibris staff. When I called to get information always had to leave a message and then no one ever called back. They have no problem calling when they want money. I have two manuscripts ready but will be looking for another publishing company.

Bought the most expensive package and was told 3 months at most for the project. Now over 6 months and still not complete. Poor communication, inability to take direction. Asked for a change - it was ignored but items that weren't requested were changed almost bizarrely. Aggressive after sales

The prices on the books are way to expensive. And now along with the price increase, it no longer makes any sense to publish with Xlibris now.

Lots went wrong and still are many unresolved issues.

I’m a first time author and Xlibris made it a very pleasant experience. Thank you Xlibris!

My Author’s Experience

I published my book with Xlibris in 2011. I had a good experience with this company throughout the whole process.

They did a awesome job on working and completing my book communication was good until the last phase where I was supposed to receive my book signing material and didn’t receive it nor was I notified that the person I had prior contact with no longer was with the company! The communication prior about the book signing material was not that had to print material myself but they would ship it to me before my book signing but instead they let me know a day before my book signing that the book signing material had to be printed out by me which was totally unprofessional and I feel should be rectified by the company asap! I hope to do future work with with the company and would love to highly recommend them to others if this issue is professionally rectified.

Response time from the various departments is too long. Sometimes the wait time for a question to be answered is more than 7days. Very few returned phone calls . It seems like there is no sense of urgency to resolve anything.

My books did not arrive when they were suppose to. When they did arrive, the quality was adequate at best. Also, there are two title pages when I only approved one. Having the extra page increased the cost of the book. Now, I am still waiting to receive my promotional items. They were supposed to be mailed out Feb. 2023, it is not June 2023.

Lastly, when I inquired to see if any of my books have sold and when I should receive a check, that's when I was told about registering with Author Center. They explained that I will not receive any money until I do this.

So far I am not sold. I paid for a lot of things that I am not getting, or I have to call the company and hunt the items down. But they are always asking me to spend more money on a new book, when they can't provide what I purchased with my current book.

I am praying that things get better.

Working with publicist was wonderful. Great at walking me through the process and feeling comfortable about it.

VERY UNHAPPY WITH JAMES IN THE ORDERING DEPARTMENT. I left 7 messages over a month and he could NOT BE BOTHERED with returning ANY of my calls. After complaining a very sweet woman finally called and I was able to go forward with my order. Just wish I could remember her name

What you do well you do very well. But your focus on pushing sales and not streamlining or making the production process user friendly is why you’re struggling to attract or even retain more customers.

The illustrations and the interpretations of the overall brief was amazing.
But it was often overshadowed by your sales teams trying to push me to spend more money on “value added” services without understanding the motivation or the idea behind the book.

Which despite already committed to a $4.5k spend had me questioning whether I would pull the contract multiple times throughout the process.

This should not happen. Ever.

As someone who has successfully run sales teams in numerous companies in different countries respecting the customer regardless of whether they are with you or not, is paramount to creating a business with the potential to experience exponential growth.

Your business model has so much amazing potential. But it’s running upside down and as a result is often in its own way.
