Great support received from Sonny and James at ASR in during the repair of the Gearbox in my Audi RS4 B8. Very knowledgeable team and extremely good communication throughout the entire process. Car collected and delivered one week later.

In June 2025 my VW T4 went in for a gearbox rebuild, costing £7,083. When it came back in August, the gear shifter didn't work — unable to select 1, 2 or 3. To their credit they eventually agreed to fix it.

They collected the van again on 29th October 2025 and it wasn't returned, repaired, until 9th July 2026 — nearly 9 months later. For most of that time I heard absolutely nothing: no emails answered, no calls. Apparently parts were hard to source, but that doesn't excuse going dark for the best part of a year.

Two stars, because it got fixed in the end. Don't expect updates unless you chase constantly.

Everything ran smoothly. Car has been returned without problems.

Overall it has been an easy and smooth experience dealing with ASR gearbox Repairs.
I dealt with James and verbal communication was on point through out , and was always followed up by email.

From first contacting yourselves, speaking to Chris who explained clearly how they would pick my car up ,and then do a diagnosis .They then confirmed what was wrong and how much the cost would be. After a sudden loss of gearbox oil on a motorway, all drive was lost on my Audi A3. I obtained a number of quotes unseen, including ASR and all generally suggested a seal and mechatronic failure. After speaking to Elliot at ASR, who was extremely helpful, i chose them to do the repair. They collected my car, rebuilt the mechatronic unit, replaced all sensors and fixed the oil leak and delivered the car back to me. Elliot was kind enough to share the fault codes so as to be completely transparent about the problems. A very efficient and cost appropriate service and would highly recommend them.

I have had an exceptional experience with this company. I had an issue with my cars gearbox which was inherited when I bought it from a dealership. This company picked my car up for me from the dealership, they kept everything transparent regarding pricing, they kept me informed on the progress and were really reassuring as I was really stressed about the whole issue of the dealership selling me a dudd vehicle. Honourable mention, Rockie and Elliot have been absolutely amazing they have been very helpful, very professional, very knowledgeable and showed a lot of empathy. Despite some delivery problems (components not in UK) I was kept informed of rebuild progress.

We have my dear dad’s car that he brought from new ,a Mercedes A class 20007 . Unfortunately it appeared to have a problem with the ECU or control module , this was suspected by local companies in Essex , however after several calls to ask if they could fix the problem no one wanted to know , we understood why , the car is old 2007 and therefor the work would cost more than the car is worth . Very much a rock and a hard place , fix it or buy another car ?
We saw ASR gearbox repair on line and gave them a call , we spoke to James and immediately liked him , very helpfull informative and definitely sincere not pushing for us to go there but listening to our dilemma , we needed the car repaired as we are looking after my parents and going around to them several times day and night . James explained he could get the car picked up and delivered back and asap . He organised that for the day after we agreed to go ahead , but we rang the following day to,ask him to,put it on hold as we had a dilemma re seeing a car for sale . He said it’s no problem take your time it’s a difficult decision. We decided to go ahead with the repair . James booked it to be collected the next day . He let us know the car had arrived and then let us know it was being looked at and the diagnosis . The work was done very quickly and James let us know the cost and went out of his way to get the car back to us the same day ! understanding how much we relied on it .
A huge thank you to James who we immediately trusted . And a big thank you to the guy that worked late to deliver the car at 8 pm at night . I had phoned a few times and whoever we spoke to could not have been more helpful , Chris , and Scott . James called today to make sure all is ok with the car . So far so good and hopefully will stay that way as we feel it’s a great company made all the better by excellent caring staff thank you .

From min one Elliot spoke with me on the phone, they collected the car and done my repairs all at a great price and communication throughout and then returned the car, would highly recommend.

Good service and support from the start provided by technical advisor, Sonny, with clear and regular communications throughout the vehicle recovery and diagnostic process. There was no pressure to accept the repair quote given which I didn't in the end after considering the age and very high mileage of my vehicle versus the cost of repair. Our Ford had a problem with the gearbox. The pick up was on time. Assessment of the work was done and a price was given very quickly. There was no hard sell for the work to be done.We ended up selling the car to ASR as the car wasn't worth the repair and they paid more than we were expecting. I have called several times and they have always been very polite and helpful.

Was recommended ASAR TRANSMISSION to repair my transmission to my bmw m3 sport. Lower gear box , spoke to James, who had the time to explain the whole process from collection, repair and redelivery, to my door step, he carried the work out via RAC warranty., I was in communication with James giving me updates and it was so reassuring, 4 days later Asar rang (james) to say my car was being delivered the following day, and there it was!!!
