I applied for insurance, sent details of the lock I bought and asked what he meant by the online link. He never got back to me.

After a short wait (c. 1 week) I received payout on my claim for a stolen bike.
The evidence they asked for seemed fair and flexible (e.g. I only had photos of my lock, not the receipt).
The team are helpful in email responses, which come usually in 24 hours, and clear in communication.

It was great to find an insurance that would cover my custom built bike. I checked and they told me pictures from the past years and a list of components plus some remaining receipts were enough. A month ago I had a crash and tore two jackets, plus bent my rear hanger. They wanted invoices for every bike component, three times new pictures of the jackets, a cost estimation for the rear hanger to replace it by a mech. They were missing one file I had uploaded to the portal but didn't say a word for two weeks. Only when I inquired they told me that they were missing a file. I still don't understand why they need detailed invoices for every little bike part in order to replace my jackets??? They don't even react anymore when I ask them if they have everything they need. Just silence. The other health insurances have already paid over a month ago. Bikmo is just silent and won't even answer anymore. I am helpless and will probably have to approach my legal insurance to finally get an answer. I added my son's new bike to the insurance, too and now I am afraid they would never accept any claim because we bought a used bike. They didn't answer my questions what I would have to provide to them. They say it's from bikers for bikers but simplest things they don't know like asking for a picture of a damaged rear hanger, which is not visible on a picture.
I cannot recommend bikmo, as they are slow, irresponsive, have no idea of bikes and what they are asking for. Setting up the insurance is easy, though.
UPDATE: After a few requests for attention, James and Tom got back in touch and moved my case a long. It took about a week for the folks at Hiscox to get back to me with a resolution and I was happy with what they came back with. It wasn’t everything but it met my expectations and will allow me to move forward and replace my bike. I will definitely continue using Bikmo for my insurance.

I’ve recently had my bike stolen from outside my house during the night (appropriately locked with required lock) and am still waiting (over a week) to hear back that I sent all the appropriate information in. I am a bit worried as reading some of the reviews here it looks like theft is an issue that can have long wait times and quite a few rejections - though I bought insurance over a year ago to address my anxiety about theft. Now I am bike-less and worried that this process could take months or never happen. Fingers crossed and will update when I hear.

I had my electric bike stolen. It was locked to a bike railing with the appropriate grade lock within a gated compound that required a code. I was flabbergasted one evening when, two hours after locking it up, I returned and found the entire railing had been stolen.
To my disappointment, when I filed my claim, Bikmo responded to tell me that they would not be compensating me on the basis that the railing had been bolted into the ground and thus was not an immovable object as defined in the policy. Upon reviewing the T&Cs, I had to accept that this was true -- I believe I didn't take this into account when first taking out the policy as I was living somewhere else and only ever stored my bike in a garage or storage facility -- but I felt I was being overly punished as I had taken all other precautions, and on top of this, I had sent an email to Bikmo when I moved to ask if there was anything else I needed to be aware of when locking my bike to a railing, and I was sent back advice that did not mention the immovable object definition.
I therefore replied to their decision making these complaints, as well as questioning the value of a policy that doesn't cover being able to lock your bike to the majority of bike railings one can find which are also bolted into the ground, and asked if I could at least receive partial compensation.
It took several months to get back anything other than a 'we are still looking into it' response, but to my surprise, they ultimately awarded me the full amount on a goodwill basis which was beyond what I had expected.
As a result, although I had to push for it and wait a long time, I have to acknowledge that they took my situation into account and went beyond what they were required to do, acting as people as opposed to a faceless corporation who always hold to the letter of the contract regardless of the circumstances.
For now, I will not be getting another bike as I no longer trust the security of the gated compound, and would not be able to take a policy out with Bikmo on the basis that the places I can lock a bike to would not satisfy the T&Cs as immovable object, but if I move to somewhere more secure, I would consider taking a policy out with Bikmo again given how reasonable they have been.

Had a 69.99 year insurance policy . Had my front tyre slashed with a Stanley blade (blade was on the floor) supplied the correct evidence and they said it doesn't cover . Requested to cancel policy over two weeks ago and they haven't replied.

No feedback after my bikes was stolen for five weeks. I‘m without a bike in the middle of summer now. Even after multiple phone calls i have no idea about the current status.
Do not waste your money! just put them into a saving account instead!. Bikmo does not deal with your insurance anyway when it comes to claim a stolen bike, Hiscox does!. While I understand that my bike wasn’t locked to a strong structure as per policy, there was simply no viable alternative. Given the circumstances, I believe the rejection is unfair, especially as a loyal customer who has always complied with their requirements. What is the point to pay an insurance then? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY they are useless

EDIT: Update: finally paid out and money hit my account on 26th June, 46 days post claiming. Boy was this slow, but they did paid out. But they haven’t responded to my complaint after 3 weeks.
I insured my bike through Bikmo (underwritten by Hiscox), expecting a smooth process should the worst happen. Unfortunately, when my bicycle was stolen, the claims experience fell far short of what I was led to expect.
I submitted my claim on 11th May 2025, providing all requested documents and information promptly — often on the same day. Despite this, it has now been over six weeks and my straightforward theft claim is still unresolved.
Much of the delay seems to stem from a convoluted handoff between Bikmo, Hiscox, and their appointed loss adjusters, Crawfords. I was subjected to a detailed interview and a lengthy questionnaire — something that felt excessive for a basic theft case. Even after Crawfords recommended settlement on 29th May, the delays continued. A simple error in bike sizing slowed things further, and since 9th June I’ve received no further updates despite confirming all outstanding details.
This process has left me without a bicycle for commuting and incurred extra expenses — including continued premiums on a policy for an item I no longer possess. It’s hard not to feel forgotten and inconvenienced.
Bikmo talks about quick and efficient claims. In my experience, it’s been the opposite: slow, overly bureaucratic, and lacking basic communication. I’m giving 2.5 stars because the initial setup and coverage were fair, and a resolution may still come — but the claims handling process needs serious improvement.
I have submitted a formal complaint about the serious length of wasted time, and am awaiting a formal response. Will update here when I get it.
After a pretty awful crash in a Crit, I completely wrote off my bike. Despite only having my policy for a couple of months, Tom and the team at Bikmo were really helpful and I was covered for a replacement through my insurance. I did have to go through Hiscox and the Loss Adjusters, which I thought might be an issue reading some comments on here, but my worries were completely unfounded, and everything went through fine after a short teams call with Crawfords. All in all I'm delighted with the service I received at Bikmo, Hiscox & Crawfords and I would definitely recommend their cover.

Where to start with this absolute shambles of a company.
Sadly our garage was broken into and a number of things taken including our mountain bike that my wife uses for commuting
We are now nearly 3 weeks since this happened and guess what this abysmal company have done. Apart from list of excuses. Nothing
First it was because of bank holiday (sorry my thieves chose bank holiday weekend. I know this was inconvenient for BIKMO)
Then staff shortages
Then staff training
Then 40 claims in front of mine
Then after all of that. They told me they haven’t even looked at our claim for 7 days. And now it will be urgently looked into and we will receive an email that day.
Guess what. No email.
Phoned again. Said claim has been submitted and will get a decision same day. I’m sure you can guess where this is going.
The phoned up again and they told us well we do work till 5pm. So we do have till 5pm. 5pm comes and well I don’t need to fill you in with the rest of the shambles.
We are fortunate enough to have a very large social media following and presence through my wife’s work. So my mission this evening is to make sure the word is well and truly spread about bikmo
And if I can make sure just 1 customer does not spend there hard earned money with this absolute joke of a company. Then that’s good for me.
