Love the tax software. Hate the the customer service.

Drake used to be affordable they used to pride themselves of not increasing their price. They started to interduce large increases every year. They are giving less and less every year. I had an single user unlimited bundle for 2025 tax year for 2026 they are charging me more for 150 Tax Returns. I am considering changing. They know changing is a hassle so don't get started with them.

Drake user since 2007/2008. The usability gets easier each year. New features such as the portal, workflow, and DrakePay have been added in recent years to streamline and save time. Of course these features add cost and I do find it a little expensive for the number of returns that I prepare, but I haven't seen anything as easy to use that costs less. As a tip, I always purchase at the lowest price before May 31. Tech support (as well as other departments) is very responsive. DrakeCPE makes it easy, reasonably priced and convenient to obtain and keep records of CPE credits each year. Overall, I'm very satisfied with Drake.

Every time I call everyone treats me like they really care. They never make me feel dumb for not figuring out something on my own time.

It used to be good, not anymore, prices keep going up with customer service keep getting worse!!!!

They do seem to be responding to individial tax prepaprer issues in a 'kinda' timely basis

Drake products have soared in price but plummeted in support! Features removed from Drake yet they add on other features for a price. I think since they were bought out the focus is on money not product or service. I had to spend way more time on the phone with support because they didn't know the answer and refused to seek help. They would have me hold on while they googled or something. The could have researched and called me back but the times they said they would call back they didn't.

First at all, at the begining of the tax season I was so confident that maybe it will be as the other program that I have been using for almost 10 years, and surprise was so complicated, but I am a very fight person and after 2 weeks I figure out the way Drake works, some tech supports needs better educated the way answer the phone, maybe Im too old or old school, greed the person at the other line ( good morning, afternoon or evening () these apply to English and Spanish and some are or were a little rood , and plus if you want to use spanish speaker they are able after 9 am central time , I think a little to late. And create a plan to train a new customers to buy a Drake software, because you already know who they are.

I give Drake 5 stars because I received all the support I needed throughout my first tax season. I had never felt so supported in something that mattered so much to me.

This was my first year preparing taxes and starting my company on my own. I was completely new to tax preparation and was also learning the Drake software at the same time. Despite being new to both, the support team always took the time to guide me with patience and professionalism.

Their help made a huge difference in my learning experience, and I will never forget the support I received.

I met with a sales person who moved back & forth in his chair the whole time making me dizzy.

I have not found customer support to be as helpful as I expected. At Intuit, whose support I used to despise, the support improved over the years to become a great support network. Please help your people be more educated and more willing to go the extra mile to help the support call-ins.

Drake continues to raise rates and lower the service. The removed the accounting package from the base fee and increased fee by 15% so you get less but pay a lot more.

I started using Drake last year after using another tax software for over 20 years and I couldn't be happier! I was pleasantly surprised on how thoughtful the program is and user friendly. Very happy I made the change!

After years of dealing with overpriced, bloated tax software, switching to Drake was a breath of fresh air.

Drake is affordable, easy to use, fast, and packed with features that actually integrate well together. The workflow feels designed by people who understand how tax professionals really work instead of software companies trying to maximize upsells and subscriptions.

But the biggest difference — and the reason they earned 5 stars from me — is the customer service.

When you call Drake, real people answer the phone. Knowledgeable people. Patient people. People who genuinely want to help you solve the problem and get back to work. They stay with you until the issue is resolved.

That experience is becoming rare in the software world.

By comparison, products like Intuit often feel designed primarily to extract as much money as possible while making support difficult to reach when you actually need help.

Drake still treats its customers like human beings and partners, not just recurring revenue accounts.

Highly recommended for tax professionals who value efficiency, reliability, and real support.

Phil Drake.. where are you. I've purchased this program since the 80's.. This was a horrible year.
1. Program ran so slow on the network
2. Program was not released in time ( OK business was not released until after 2/15
3. Program had so many programming errors.. Some schedules didn't total correctly.. and some did double entry when you entered under certain categories
4. Customer Service was a joke. They read from a script. Majority had no common sence... I doubt they have a highschool education.
5. Price is getting crazy high.. especially when it is getting where we can't trust the program.
6. We found program error, but they said programming said they weren't going to correct.. we just had to work around it.
GREED.. A BIG COMPANY BUYS.. QUALITY GOES DOWN .. PRICE GOES UP

Drake software makes preparing tax returns easy and accurate.

Drake provides full functionality and all return types I need for a good price. It allows me to serve family and close friends for a good price for them and do pro bono returns for those who need the help.

There are many great software products out there, but I really appreciated that this one has always been available at a very reasonable price, making it easy to purchase without feeling burdened. (And honestly, I would be very grateful if you could please keep the price as it is!)
I was also very impressed by the continuous efforts to improve user convenience and efficiency. It truly gave me a positive impression of the software and the team behind it. Thank you.

Drake is really good professional software for tax return preparation. I have tried others but nothing as good in this price range. Not the prettiest printout of forms. But it's not made to look pretty. I can direct to what form I want information to flow. It allows me to enter statements on positions and how I am treating entries. A lot of flexibility and not just an average assumption on how information is being treated. lt has a lot of audit checks when entries don't make sense or missing information (annoying at times but much appreciated). But it can be difficult to navigate and especially when I know I need a form but can't immediately remember what the form number is. Some information you can't access on the form your trying to complete, you have to go into other sections of software for form to populate fully (can really slow you down). There is a learning curve. It keeps you on your toes. It's not software made for a person just to enter information into forms and hope software knows best.

Tech support was the backbone of the season and very helpful, great knowledge of the software.
I was very happy and satisfied being with drake for 10 years. Drake had made a lot of efforts to stay updated with IRS laws.
