Terrible Company with Horrific Customer Service/Seller Service
Etsy is a terrible company with horrible customer service for its sellers. I attempted to use their service to sell my eBooks. I'm an independent author who owns my own publishing label. I publish all of my own works under this label, and I wanted to try to increase my audience range by selling on Etsy. First, I checked their selling policies to make sure it would be okay to sell my product on Etsy, since they only sell "handmade" products.
According to their definition of homemade, my books were qualified for selling on Etsy. The books were my original idea, I wrote them, I edited them, I formatted them, and I commissioned a cover artist to create the cover (which makes the cover my property as well). They were completely handmade by Etsy's definition. Not to mention that Etsy has a category for selling books.
I signed up, listed two of my books, and left to do something else. I returned to my computer an hour later to add more of my books and found my account had been suspended and my listing removed. No explanation given. Supposedly, I was to receive an email explaining the suspension. No email arrived. I emailed their support. No response. Emailed again. No response. This time, I told them to close my account and told them I would not be paying the listing fees for the two books I'd posted because I was not going to pay a fee for a service I was never actually given. Again, no response.
I checked back a month later and my account had not been deleted. I sent them another email explaining that I needed my account closed and would not be paying for a service I never actually received. The fee was only $0.40, but it was the principle that mattered. No one wants to pay for improper service. You wouldn't pay for food at a restaurant that wasn't fully cooked and a waitress that treated you horribly. Why would you pay for an internet service that suspended you without reason less than an hour after signing up and refused to respond to your emails explaining what happened?
I finally received a response today and what was it? A copy/paste response located on their help page explaining that my account would be unsuspended if I paid my balance. The response didn't address any of my concerns. I sent a scathing response, using curses that I normally don't use due to the pent-up frustration, demanding that they cancel my account and refusing to pay the fee. I will never again use their services, either as a seller or a buyer.
Edit - I finally received a response from Etsy in which they told me they closed my account. Glad they closed the account, but still angry that I had to send them an email filled with curse words in order for them to finally close my account. How horrible is your business practice and customer service when multiple emails go unanswered, then you give a copy/paste response that doesn't answer the question, and finally have to be cussed out in order to actually do something?
Poor customer service
I was terribly disappointed with this company. Do not use this company unless you are absolutely certain you have the right size and colour etc. Although it says returns are accepted in large print, the return policy (in small print) does not allow it, unless they have made the mistake. They told me the item could not be returned because it was customised , however the website advertises it as being in stock.

Disgusting customer service as a new seller, they took my listing fees and suspended my account within 12hrs of being open.
No correspondence to tell me why, and now 2 months later I have tried every form of medium to try contact support in every way possible. Nothing works...

Poor logistic
I ordered a blanket and never received it. I wrote seller a note telling her this and she did respond back to me but apologizing for the inconvenience and she said she will check the post office. Then I got a blanket two weeks later.

Now I have never sold anything on etsy but what a wonderful site to buy unique custom items. I bought hand carved family trees with names on the branches, a custom partial denture that was better than my dentists, designer masks, cremation ash memorial rings, disney haunted mansion items. It goes on and on and when I had a problem with a seller they jumped right in and fixed it.
It is very useful.
HORRIBLE customer service
HORRIBLE customer service! They DO NOT allow the seller(their bloodline) to even reply to fraudulent cases opened on sellers. Automatically close your store and give full refund to the customer within 12hrs with 0, ZERO, NO investigation. ETSY you better check yourself you fraudulent POS excuse for a company!

No Support From Etsy
I've recently had problems with two orders with the last very frustrating as can't get to Etsy for the problem as it's like too difficult. I bought a surround for my fireplace which arrived not even close to the image portrayed by the vendor so did an initial complaint the the vendor and in multiple response the vendor never even responded that I didn't receive what was portrayed by the image he posted. In looking further the dimensions where wrong to and he sent me the diagram he had made up by the dimensions he had I had approved and that was correct. The problem is I approved as he said and image in which the dimensions were 1"&1/4" larger than what the vendor sent. So I'm stuck as vendor refuses to take responsibilty even when he showed the image making his final dimensions wrong. On another order the items broke immediately and the vendor promised to replace and haven't seen the replacements.
So, Bottom line is I no longer will use Etsy and the make it not only difficult to get hold of them on these time of problems but I can't get hold of them at all. Bought so many things online without these kind of problems.
No goods no refund money
On September 12 th 2021 Iordered a pair of shoes for E. 165 and it was not even shipped. I have written and rewritten several times in order not to have in exchange neither the refund of the money nor the goods. I will turn to the online dispute (ODR) is made available by the European Commission, sites like this must be blocked.
Lovely Platform
Lovely! Absolutely a great place for people to sell and buy goods. Yes of course logistical issues may occur but so far I have never had a time where somehow I was offered a fair solution in a promptly manner. That is what makes the difference and makes people happy in the end.

I bought a poster here. As soon as I sent my order I got a mail back: about the coincidence, that I live in the same street as the poster pictures - it felt personal. Unfortunately I did not see that the measurements, on the poster, where in inches (not cm). I got help as soon as I wrote about my mistake, and they sent me a new poster in the right size - Thank you so much for that:-)

I put a bad review on this site few days ago because the memorial lock I ordered was txt missing. Etsy and rosemartgiftsUK emailed me back and apologised to me. I have just received the replacement new memorial lock and it’s what I ordered. So now iam happy as it is a memorial lock for my son who passed away 3 months ago. Thanks for sending me the correct lock. Very happy with the quick response and delivery

If I could give this shower a minus rating I would. I've been trying for over a month to set up a 'shop' with them. They've cleared my UK bank details, can I get past the next bit for payments? NO. 6 email/live chats later and 'we need to send this to our senior technical team to look into. Thank you for your patience and please be aware we're experiencing a high volume of questions at the moment'. 2 weeks later and nothing from the seemingly non existent senior technical team or indeed customer support. They're either all on holiday, can't be arsed or just plain incompetent.

My concern about Etsy is that they have very inappropriate images in their personal departments, stumbled upon just looking for pj's. Definitely you wouldn't want your kids to see! However, an even more serious matter is that it really appears to me that underage models are used. That's very scary to me, and makes me worry about those girls. I had always thought Etsy had better values than that, so disappointed that I deleted my account with them.
Etsy removes customer-review at sellers request and date of expected delivery is changed
Etsy's customer service just told me, that they removed my review of an item at the request of the seller! In my review I was factual and polite, but I only gave one star.
When reviews with low ratings are removed by Etsy, you can not trust the Etsy review system at all.
When I bought the item 23 june 2021 the item had a date for expected delivery between 9-20 aug.2021 (on my Etsy account). But I did not get the item until the 2 sept. And ON the 2 sept the date for expected delivery was changed to the 2. sept, so it looked like the delivery was on time!
So you can not trust the date for expected delivery either.
Etsy's customer service did not give me any explanation for their removal of my review or for the changed delivery date, but asked me to review the seller or use Etsy's complaint system.
But after the other two untrustworthy Etsy systems, I don't trust ANY Etsy system and I will NEVER shop at Etsy again.
