I bought a modem from Harvey Norman. I opened the box.Speed was significantly less than my Telstra modem. They refused to accept return.
Terrible customer service and shonky warranty process…
I purchased an airfryer and convection oven at the end of March this year. The airfryer setting worked fine. A few weeks later I used the oven setting for the first time. Shortly after setting to cook, the inside of the oven was filled with smoke and the fire alarms went off in my home. Once turned off and disconnected, the back of the oven was completely scorched. I contacted HN online, explaining what happened and included pictures. I explained I was cooking chicken breasts with no oil. I have had to follow up numerous times myself, just to get a response. Now they tell me I need to recreate the issue and video it. I have to prove again that the faulty oven is faulty. Not only is this a dangerous and irresponsible request with no regard for customer safety, it shows how shonky they are when it comes to upholding warranties. I have reported them to the ACCC and will see this out to its conclusion regardless of their delaying tactics. The customer service can only be accessed through email or live chat, allowing them anonymity in their dealings and zero accountability. Shame on you Harvey Norman online.

I ordered a samsung TV online and paid for it. The local store rang me to inform me that they dont have it in stock and offered me a inferior brand tv of equal value. I asked for a refund, and they stated that they had cancelled the order and that I had to request a refund online. I filled out two forms, over 3 days, requesting a refund. Both messages were ignored. I managed to make contact via online chat and requested a refund. They replied that the local store hadn't cancelled the order. Eventually the chat helper arranged to cancell the order and stated that it might take 8 working days to get a refund. * I should add that the chat employee was quite helpful.
I feel that this company deliberately advertises good deals on TV's (which they dont have) Take your money, then offer poor substitutes. It's a shifty business model. The customer has to battle to get a refund and wait a substantial time to recieve it.
Poor form Harvey Norman, Shame on you.

Seiko watch not working
After buying a Seiko watch from Harvey Norman onlinein November 2024 I had problems with it, I returned it under warranty, it was returned to me and I was told there was nothing wrong with it. Having the same problems again. I have owned Seiko watches since 1968 and this would be the worst watch and service I have had. Starting to wonder if is a genuine Seiko. Update today 2/6/25. I have been in contact with Harvey Norman online again and today received an email stating that they are looking at my request for a full refund of the purchase price. Waiting for a decision now.

Worst follow-up and customer service…
Worst follow-up and customer service follow through for faulty goods. I have asked multiple times for a refund as they are getting no where with the supplier. I have sent photos and videos. Why should I have to wait weeks for a resolution when I purchased the product direct from Harvey Norman. Horrible experience. Warning do not purchase online e goods from Harvey Norman. Only leads to disappointment, frustration, loss of money.

Washing machine advertised on page 2 of The West Australian newspaper on 10May25 for $649 (tiny print clearly displayed 'Ends 12/05/25') - so I went online at about 10am on 12May25 to order and and it showed the price as $698 - I then asked Harvey Norman's Chat-line why the difference and they came back with their BS saying it apparently ended at 11:59pm on 11May25 - since when does 'Ends 12/05/25' actually mean the day before on 11May?

Answer. If something is supposed to happen by a certain day, it means it is supposed to happen not later than that, so it includes the day as well.
I ordered a product online
I ordered a product online, only for delivery driver to deliver to the wrong address. I contacted customer service and was never given a response apart from an automated email. They have still not resolved my issue, and I had to organise delivery to correct address at my expense. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE, you will get no support or help if things go wrong.

I recently purchased a TV from Harvey Norman, and it was completely non-functional from the moment I plugged it in at home. Instead of offering a straightforward replacement for a clearly faulty product, Harvey Norman is now making me deal directly with Hisense warranty service. This leaves me in a frustrating limbo – I have a brand new TV that doesn't work, and Harvey Norman is simply washing their hands of the issue and making me wait for a potentially lengthy warranty process with the manufacturer. This is unacceptable service for a product that was dead on arrival. I am incredibly disappointed with Harvey Norman's lack of responsibility and the inconvenience they have caused. Avoid if you expect any support for faulty goods.

HN Cannington was a great store to deal with about 10 years ago. Sadly, that was then.
No understanding of client needs. Rude salespeople. No knowledge of their contractual obligations (tried to get us to sort out their issue with their subcontractor). We will never go to this store again and will tell everyone to avoid it.
Horrible online purchase experience
Placed an online order on 22nd Feb 2025 and was told the supplier didn't have stock. Was asked to wait 6 weeks. On enquiring after 6 weeks I was told it would take another 3 weeks. On cancelling the order I was told to wait 3 days for the refund though it was paid by a Harvey Norman gift card which should be instantaneous. Chatted with an unhelpful person online after waiting 2 days who just kept repeating I should keep checking my email.

Purchased a coffe machine that was discounted, this was a floor display. The staff person found out that there wasn’t an attachment to froth milk, he ordered one, that I will collect on arrival. When I arrived home to prepare for a dinner party, I tried to connect coffee machine, they gave me the wrong electricity cable. The following day, I went again to report the problem. The manager, don’t know his name, description : Indian descendent, was incredibly rude. I just wanted a refund, considering I bought a useless coffe machine. He told me to get my refund and get out… this is the first time, after so many years of being a customer that I am treated so badly. I don’t think I will return to that store.
Extremely Disappointed with Customer Service at Harvey Norman Berrimah (NT)
I placed an in-store order on 30/03/2025 and was advised the item would arrive within 2–4 weeks. That timeline was reasonable, and I was told I would receive a call once it was in stock.
On 15/04/2025, I followed up by phone and was reassured the item would arrive by the end of April. However, when I called again on 01/05/2025, things took a frustrating turn.
The first staff member I spoke to gave me conflicting information, saying stock wouldn’t arrive until mid-May due to high demand. I explained I had paid in full nearly $500 and ordered it over a month ago. She checked with a manager and asked me to leave my name and number—although I had already provided my receipt number, which clearly had all my details.
Shockingly, less than a minute after hanging up, I received a text message saying my order was ready for collection. Confused by the sudden change, I called to confirm before going in—and that's when things went from bad to worse.
The next staff member I spoke to was extremely unprofessional. He claimed it was a “first come, first served” policy, which makes no sense considering I had already paid in full weeks ago. He also told me he had tried to call and left a voicemail—which is simply not true. There were no missed calls or voicemails on my phone.
This entire experience has been frustrating, misleading, and unacceptable. I expected far better from a major retailer. I am absolutely disgusted by the poor communication and lack of accountability at Harvey Norman Berrimah. After this experience, I will not be shopping there again—and I would advise others to think twice as well.

I purchased a product mid December last year that was listed as available. I was then told there would be a delay. I have been proactively chasing Harvey Norman for 5 months. Yesterday I was given a refund, without an explanation.
I've followed up again and they advised they thanked me for my patience but they can't give an ETA on whether the product will ever be delivered. I don't think they ever intended it to be delivered.
It took 5 months for that. They never proactively contacted me.
I would classify their costumer service as poor at best.
Stay away - they sell products they can't actually give to the customer and make no effort to communicate that.

Stay well away! Absolute thieves, who have zero customer service, accountability and customer service!! Impossible to contact and even when you eventually can by live chat or email, they don’t follow through and refuse to disclose information. How is this company still going?! Tried to cancel an incorrect order placed immediately after placing and was told it had been sent to the department and I would receive a refund - a day later receive a shipping confirmation - with a shipping number that wasn’t activated until two days later. Now told I will be charged a reject delivery fee, but no one will tell me how much!!! Additionally, last time I ordered a vacuum it was shipped and never arrived - took me three months to sort! I’m the fool for not remembering and giving them a second chance. They are a complete scam! I will be going to Office of Fair Trading this time!
Disappointed with Misleading Price Match Policy
I was really disappointed with my recent experience. Harvey Norman advertises that they will price match if you find a product cheaper elsewhere, but when I found my computer at a lower price and asked for a match, I was told “no” and directed to look at the terms and conditions. I find this misleading. If there are strict exclusions, they should be clearly stated upfront rather than giving the impression of a straightforward price match policy. It feels like a marketing promise that isn’t honoured in practice.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I have received regarding my recent order from your Swords branch.
On the 6th of April, I ordered a dinner table and 4 chairs, and arranged for delivery on the 11th of April. Unfortunately, the delivery on that day was not only incomplete but also defective. The two chairs were broken, and the table was missing essential washers and bolts. This prevented the assembly team from completing the setup.
On the same day, I visited the store and spoke to David in the furniture department, who provided me with washers. However, when the assembly team arrived again on the 14th of April, they found the washers to be the wrong size, and once again, the bolts were missing. This has now been a third attempt with no resolution, leaving me without a functional kitchen table or chairs for my son’s birthday, which was deeply disappointing.
This is not the first time I have faced issues with Harvey Norman. In January, I purchased a smartphone to be shipped abroad for my sister, only to receive the wrong colour. Unfortunately, because the phone had already been shipped, I was unable to return or exchange it.
I would appreciate immediate attention to this matter. At this point, I expect either the correct parts for the furniture to be delivered urgently, or a full refund for the damaged and incomplete items. Additionally, I request compensation for the time and inconvenience this situation has caused.

Don't trust their online store as they sell out of stock items without disclosure. I purchased a bar fridge (was about to buy from Amazon), but thought I'd support an Aussie business to only then be told it will take 3 weeks plus to ship as they're out of stock. You can't get hold of their customer service and they don't reply when you requested a refund. Avoid Hervey Norman online
I will never use HN again and will just use Amazon where it's flawless and you get solid customer service.

Is the online store just a scam? How is this legal in Australia? The online store should be ordered to shut down and Harvey Norman hit with a huge fine. I wanted to say they are the Temu of online retailers, but that would be completely opposite as Temu as it is more reliable with quality of service that the disgusting HN-online could only dream of.
