Constant hoops and headaches

I have not had a good experience with this company. First everything went smooth and I got a 3 month supply of my pill (which I have been taking the same kind for years before going through them) After reaching out to them about some period concerns I was having, (and getting responses that made no sense) they up and canceled my prescription without my knowledge. When it was time to get my refill I had found out it was canceled and had to jump through constant hoops to get it back in time before I started having physical withdrawals. Eventually I was told they didn’t have my brand and it was on back order and tried sending me generics which is specifically stated in my profile I cannot take. They allowed me to send the script to a nearby pharmacy and pick it up there. Now that I’m ready to try again they are trying to make me pay the yearly fee again even though it’s only been 4 months. Nothing but headaches and I’m ready to give up!

Negative Stars

Well since the last issue of being given the runaround as to when they no longer accept UnitedHealthcare as an insurance provider (you do, you’re just too lazy to check my updated information), they’ve now been giving me the runaround on transferring my prescription out. It’s been a week and we’re somehow back to square one asking my online home delivery service to call them. We’ve already been through this guys. Please do not reply with a generic copy paste response asking if I’m still having an issue to call. FIX THIS.

It couldn’t get any worse

It couldn’t get any worse. Let me preface this by saying I just realized that they are not a new company. They advertised “Hey Favorr” as one on Twitter, then they changed their name to “The Pill Club.” Guys, they were around before as “the Pill club” so they’re switching their name to leave bad reputations in the dust. Here’s a Reddit thread about this very same “pill club” from years ago.

MY EXPERIENCE:
Taking birth control for multiple reasons. I’ve never been denied it in my life. They tried refusing it due to “headaches.” Whatever medical staff there aren’t competent. I have headaches that are controlled under preventative medications, and I never had auras or any of that other funky stuff that demonstrates a vascular problem in my head. HAVING BEEN TO MEDICAL SCHOOL FOR 3 YEARS, I know that I’m not going to have a stroke on hormones. I had a near fatal car accident and now have been TUTORING MEDICAL STUDENTS (and many others) FOR 12 YEARS. I mentioned this to emphasize I am fairly fresh on the material. I had to explain all of this to them and they finally sent the medication. They were nice…but they just don’t have medical training or are under a company created list of “we won’t prescribe to anyone with ____.”
I just pumped 2 kids out. Hormone levels are far higher then. 🤨

Next, my husband left his job for a new one offering him a 15% raise. So…insurance changed. I contacted them to update it. They said that they had already found me from a “pharmacy insurance database” and were asking if I “take Armodafinil.” I was thinking, here we go again…
They said birth control is contraindicated with armodafinil. No, it’s not. They’re metabolized partly by the same enzyme subsystem in the liver. Modafinil, the sister of Armodafinil, can DECREASE LEVELS OF HORMONE IN PLASMA because it CAN speed up that enzyme system in the liver, causing it to breakdown through hormones faster. It’s called an “INDUCER.” I knew this was what the “contraindication” was in their mind. So I gave them the benefit of the doubt and explained to them that my husband recently had a vasectomy but my doctors said to stay on the birth control for my skin and period. I also leveled with them about my history of being raped over a dozen times. I’m autistic. “More than 90% of people with developmental disabilities will experience sexual abuse at some point in their lives. 49% will experience 10 or more abusive incidents” (Valenti-Hein & Schwartz, 1995).
They outlawed abortions here so I wanted to stay on birth control for now. Now they wanted to prescribe a spermicide gel that you put in hours before sex. Sigh… the person said they were nurse practitioner and would talk to a nurse practitioner team…were they really a nurse? I don’t know. I can’t believe this place literally roots through your information and insurance. Nobody else does. Violating.

TRY IT OUT!! It’s worth it!!

The pill club is something else! So easy to use and get things started:) and if you have any issues, you can use the helpline to talk with the wonderful helpers! I have been using birth control for 15…

I have been using birth control for 15 years. I recently had a salpingectomy (recommended to prevent ovarian cancer, BCRA1 positive). I still need birth control (salpingectomy is not perfect, plus I use BC to regulate period). I foolishly disclosed this and they immediately cancelled my prescription. No explanation. Just that I should seek medical care elsewhere. I suspect part of it is I needed them to transfer my prescription to my local pharmacy because they have been back ordered on my brand for months and I’m not worth it to them if I’m not willing to change to a comparable generic they can ship. I’ve been forced to change brands a couple of times in the past and it’s always been a terrible time.

I love how kind, informative, and fast this service is. I never have to worry about anything they always take care of the billing of insurance, making sure I don’t run out of my pills and for always helping when I have questions.

I’ve been with the pill club for 3…

I’ve been with the pill club for 3 years now and never had a problem until this year. I wanted to renew my prescription as i’ve run out of it. I took the test and everything and now I had to talk to a provider. I made multiple appointments yet no provider shows up! I’ve been trying for at least a month now, a couple times a week. I swear no one is even working there. I’ve texted to complain and even emailed them but they don’t seem to care. One day they randomly texted me at 8:14 am that a provider can talk to me at 10am.. girl I don’t wake up at that time.. You can give me a day heads up at least?? Nurx is better and gives you same day response but unfortunately they don’t accept my insurance so the Pill Club is my only way to get my birth control… I’m literally waiting for a call right now for 15 minutes but no one is connecting.

I started getting my BCP back in 2021 from heyfavor

I started getting my BCP back in 2021 from heyfavor. I quit taking them when we decided to have another baby. Jan of 2023 I renewed my subscription with The Pill Club. The process is not only simple and easy but fast. I get a few months of BCP delivered right to my door. I started taking NORETHINDRON-ETHINYL Estradiol MYLA. Everyone responds differently to medications so I can only speak for myself when I say This BCP isn't for me!! My cramps were 10xs more worse than normal. Intercourse was not only painful, but I bleed heavily with blood clots for 15 days afterwards. I stopped taking the pill, requested to change my prescription, and did so without any trouble. Sometimes doctor appointments can be hard to keep, so I appreciate the fact that The Pill Club has made a hassle free way for me to receive my BCP. I'm Keeping my fingers crossed I respond better to my new BCP!!

Restricted contraception access has met its match.

I currently live in a state where women are being arrested for abortions and birth control access is extremely limited. I’ve been on the same birth control since middle school, just due for a rx renewal. It has been IMPOSSIBLE to find a clinic or provider that will renew this. I am a grown MARRIED woman that uses this for so many reasons, including the health concern of critically low iron when I have my period (due to extreme bleeding). One of my friends suggested the Pill Club and I was open to everything; I’ve looked at other sites and the cost was just a little over the top. I called to check on the process and the sweet angel that answered showed empathy for the situation and she clearly explained from top to bottom the process and information, was so easy to understand, and she escalated this further to solve my issue in a matter of seconds. I wish they accepted my insurance so I could get my pill directly from them, although the fact that they have providers that can send this to a local pharmacy just made it that much easier. I thank you all so much and I will be recommending this service to anyone that I speak with (regardless if they asked). Love you!!!

Given Dangerous Medical Advice

I was recently required to fill out a prescription renewal form and mentioned having started a new anti-convulsant medication. I was rejected for BC renewal outright, told to use condoms, and - horrifyingly - told to stop their BC cold turkey. The condom part was asinine, as I take continuous BC for reasons other than contraception. The cold turkey part was downright dangerous.

BC can affect the serum concentration of this anti-convulsant. Because I was prescribed the drug WHILE TAKING THIS BC, my serum level depends upon the hormones. Stopping BC cold turkey could cause a rapid change in the level of the drug. Even a BC placebo week can cause problems.

This is dangerous, as a rapid change in serum level is the main risk factor for developing Stevens Johnson Syndrome and/or toxic epidermal necrolysis, with a 10-50% mortality rate. There was no doctor consultation to discuss this situation, no referral elsewhere, nor any option to appeal the decision. Any patient who didn’t know this risk and just followed their instructions blindly could have faced serious medical consequences.

Before “Favor” this site was excellent, but they’ve now suggested I do something medically dangerous and I’m questioning both their safety and the qualifications of their staff. I am concerned for patients who rely on them for medical information/decisions and will be filing a complaint with the State of California medical board.

This app is terrible…

I have had such a disappointing experience with this company. I would definitely give zero stars if that was an option. The customer service is terrible. They CANCELED my birth control without my permission after it was late two months in a row. When I contacted customer service they basically gave me the run around and told me “sorry it’s still processing!” After over a month?? The point of birth control pills is that you have to take them consistently or else it doesn’t work! You would think that the “medical professionals” that work for this app would know that. Please do yourself a favor and never use this app. Would not recommend to anyone.

Try somewhere else

My insurance requires prescriptions to be filled through Walgreens. They sent the first script to my pharmacy but they aren't interested in having me as a client. I couldn't reach anyone to change my prescription and later on when I went back in to sign up for a new script they told me to see my health provider (which is backed up for months before I can go in). Don't bother.

Incompetent service

I contacted them to see if they take my health insurance (common major provider). They acted confused and gave me the run around for FOUR DAYS before asking me to send a picture of my card. I did so. They still couldn't or wouldn't answer as to whether they accept my insurance plan. I feel like this sounds made up but they were literally this incompetent. I gave up, if this is how they treat you as a potential customer, I dont want to see how they treat actual customers.

Affordable meds, terrible treatment of patients

I got my birth control fine and at a fair price. That's the only reason I'm leaving 2 stars. I started this birth control, then underwent surgery a week later, then started my period the day after surgery, even though I skip my period every month and have for years. I reach out to the "care team" to ask if breakthough periods are normal and I highly regret this. I should have just gone to planned parenthood. The care team asked me a bunch of unnecessary questions over the course of 4-5 days without answering my questions about the period then determined I was "unsafe to continue the medication" even though both my surgeon and doctor advised me to continue taking the birth control as my risk for blood clots due to surgery was over. The care then canceled my future birth control subscription for 2024! Why would this experience make me uneligible for birth control a YEAR FROM NOW? They said I could continue to get medication delivered through them if I got a prescription from my doctor. This completely eliminates the whole reason I signed up and paid for this. I will now have to drive to the doctor, pay for the visit, then get a prescription and purchase it through this company if I ever want to get birth control from here again. They then told me that I needed a "higher level of care" than they could offer and stopped replying to my messages. All I did was point out they never answered my question about my period and then they cut off affordable health resources for me.

I have read the company's reply and as you can see, they have confirmed everything I said. Instead of answering my questions about my period, they cut me off from health resources and require me to go to my own doctor for future prescriptions. I will never get birth control from the pill club again because it makes absolutely no sense to drive to the doctor, pay for the doctors visit, then pay the pill club to send more meds to me when the point of this is to do it FROM HOME. I will be funding my local Walmart pharmacy and wasting my money and gas instead. Screw you pill club. YOU NEED A HIGHER LEVEL OF CARE
