felt ignored

I was excited to start this company because they send lots of cute freebies. however, i am really unsatisfied. first of all, communication is awful. they wouldn’t respond to me until right before they closed each day so when i went to respond or call, i wouldn’t get a response back until the next day or two days later. always at 7pm. secondly, the reason i am so unsatisfied, they were prescribing me medication that went against what i put on my assessment and wouldn’t change it after texting back and fourth and calling to speak to them.

If you need customer service waste of time service

I wanted to potentially switch to another type of birth control but they cancelled my existing prescription without sending ANY communication!!! I realized it was cancelled when logging into my account. I realized the issue was related to not taking the initial pill at the correct time but they are very slow with customer service so will probably just switch to Nurx. Agree with other reviews anything but easy…

Scam don't do it

Had a bad experience with my own pill club account and now I'm writing a review for my daughters account. It took months to get her first shipment because I kept getting contradictory info from them. I'd get a message saying my insurance covered it all, immediately followed by a message saying I had to pay. This went on for months and even the live people I spoke with were going back and forth with incorrect info. Her second shipment was lost in the mail before it was even handed to usps and they expected my insurance to pay for it! Took forever to get them to send the script to her pharmacy and then I log back on to find out when the rest of her script will be here and find that they closed her account. This place is a scam. Their scripts cost more than walgreens but in reality the medication they send should be cheaper

Most insurances will cover the complete cost of the prescription and medication, however, we will not know until our pharmacy processes the prescription. If a patient does have a copay, we notify them immediately in order to see how they would like to proceed. When a patient transfers their prescription to their local pharmacy for pick up, their prescription is no longer housed at The Pill Club's pharmacy, and they no longer receive shipments. Patients can always transfer their prescription back to The Pill Club to reactivate their account and resume shipments of their prescription. We love that you are involved in this process with your daughter, however, we are unable to respond to account inquiries directly on public platforms due to our strict patient privacy regulations and we’re only able to speak with the patient about their experience. Service has gone MAJORLY downhill.

I used to love the pill club, but I finally gave up on them and just canceled my prescription and switched to Nurx. They started by saying they couldn’t prescribe to me, so I got a doc’s prescription and turned that in. They read it wrong, it was supposed to be continuous and they only sent me enough to force me to take the placebo week. I waited days for the text messaging software to work but only got robots and ended up having to call. They fixed that, but now for my last two deliveries they’ve sent me notices saying I needed to get a new prescription (mine was prescribed in December, 7 months ago, for a year) from a doctor to continue receiving birth control. The first time I called to sort it out, but the second time I tried texting. Then, rather than sorting that out, they told me they’d decided it was “medically unsafe” to prescribe me birth control, then sent me another message saying I needed a new prescription. I tried messaging, got no response, then got the automated new prescription needed message again. Canceled my service. I used them from 2016 through 2018, canceled while I was abroad for a year, had a great experience through 2019. Then I got nexplanon, had it taken out because it didn’t work for me, and when I resumed using the pill club in January of 2021 the poor quality started. I’m not sure if there’s been a change in leadership or what, but it’s an absolute nightmare to use now. Do NOT recommend. Nurx seems to be going much better so far.

Edit to add: Pill Club texted me after this review and attempted to gaslight me about my prescription. What else can you expect from a company run by men claiming to know the best for women’s reproductive services. An absolutely garbage company. AVOID.

Recommended

TPC is very convenient and quick with everything, from shipping to contacting you back for your inquiries/problems. I’ve been using the same birth control since I was 18 so it was really easy to switch to TPC. The stuff that comes with the birth control pills are freaking adorable too. I recommend TPC for people like me who already knows which birth control to get.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THE PILL CLUB!!!! I’m now out $70 because there was an “issue” with the delivery, and the only explanations I get is that they cannot offer refund due to incomplete or incorrect addresses, neither of which was the case. But they will offer you a “solution”, just repurchase the same thing again! Yeah right. Can’t even be trusted to deliver what you pay for, or make up for it when they screw hp, but want your trust and money just to do it all over again. The address I provided works perfectly fine every time I order online, and seeing how many of these reviews are from people with similar experiences to mine, it is, at best, a very cheap attempt to make money off of customers. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my delivery address, and there’s no reason to not refund me for the mistake that THEIR company made. Really cannot stress enough just how evil The Pill Club is, taking peoples money WITH NOTHING TO SHOW FOR IT during a time when many are going through financial hardships. This is not a frivolous expense. People put their trust in companies like these for medications that they NEED and how they treat customers that they have wronged says more than any response to these reviews ever could. Vile and pathetic company and customer service.

EDIT: just as suspected, I got a “follow-up” to this review with a fake “anything for the customer facade” since I wrote this review here is what has happened.
1) I got a text from the company saying that the address I gave them when asked was not the same one I had put in when I ordered my prescription. While this is true, both addresses I gave them were in the same building, and when asked why the “wrong” delivery address did not cause a problem the last time I ordered the same prescription less than 3 months ago, I coincidentally stopped getting automated texts. Both numbers I gave the company are in the same building and I am the only one by that name there. They will question you to death trying to make their mistakes your fault, and the second you have (multiple) legitimate reasons to question their morals and the way in which they run their business, you’re ghosted. Guess it’s easier to ignore your problems then to address them.
To address the passive aggressive “our refund policy is listed”, actually, your refund policy for these sorts of mistakes says, verbatim, copy pasted directly from your website, ”We can’t provide a refund or cover the cost of a replacement for undelivered packages due to incorrect or incomplete delivery addresses.” It says nothing about refunds not being available PERIOD. I had no reason to believe before contacting customer service that I would not get a refund, since this was clearly a company mistake. If you are not going to offer refunds, mistake by your company or not, no matter the circumstance, that needs to be stated plain and clear on your website. As the previously listed quote reads as though you WILL offer refunds for a mistake made by your company. I believe saying “we will not offer refunds even if we completely screw up your order for no reason, because we only want money!” will help future potential customers avoid losing out on money that could’ve been put to much better use elsewhere.
And to address the other passive aggressive comment in your response, ”To avoid shipping to an incorrect or incomplete address, we send text reminders to patients when a package is being prepared. This allows time for patients to update addresses as needed.” Again, THE SHIPPING ADDRESS WAS NOT INCORRECT. This was, plain as day, a mistake by your company. No way around it. The sad attempt to weasel your way out of the accusations in my review, and all the others on this website, are again, transparent and pathetic.

TLDR: please, for the love of god, get your medications from anywhere else but The Pill Club. Don’t make the same mistake as me and trust this company with money you will most likely never see again.

Bad customer service

It sounded good at first, my insurance accepted and I was going to receive my pills for free, a one year supply I believe. Then I get a message saying they were not able to deliver to my address, which I never normally have issues with. Now they want to charge me $128 for the pills, because of their own issue failing to deliver. Also all messages sent to you are automatic from bots, and you are unable to clear anything up.

DO NOT GET terrible customer service.

Terrible man run company. I've been on birth control for a little over a year. I got my prescription through them and changed it through them without a doctor when I had extremely bad side effects. It took 2 weeks for them to get back to me about my side effect. I decided to change birth control and not have a period. Since the new birth control I HAVE NOT HAD ANY SIDE EFFECTS. Now I needed to renew my prescription through a questionnaire. When asked about ANY side effects to ANY birth control I listed them one being bleeding not on period, which happened to be with heavy bleeding. I NEVER HAD HEAVY BLEEDING. Then I got asked whether I went to a doctor for heavy bleeding, well no of course not I never had heavy bleeding. Well now because of that I can't get a renewed prescription and have to go else where. I wil have to go without birth control as they only gave me two week notice. The male supervisor did not care. He does not know what hormones do to women. All because they're questionnaire asked something that had nothing to do with me. Just lie on the questionnaire if you really want birth control.

Really just a scam

I never never received my birth control and when I called to get another prescription or a refund, I was told that there was not anything that can be done to help me. I think it is really ridiculous how you can take my money but not send me what I paid for. When I explained that to the person I talked with all they did was tell me I would have to buy another pack. Why would I spend more money with a company I cannot trust to send my product or to refund me when they don’t? Really the absolute worst service I’ve received from anyone about a missing package. I just cancelled my subscription because I really feel scammed. It’s really sad because I know a lot of young women who need birth control but cannot afford it, yet when you find an affordable place to get it, you just get scammed in the end.

If you don't have insurance, don't bother

For context, I've already been receiving my birth control through my GP. I do not have insurance and pay out of pocket. I was hoping to save some time and money by switching to TPC, and wow what a mistake that was. I used them previously when I had insurance and struggled with not receiving my shipments on time which sometimes left me without pills and caused my cycles to become irregular, but I liked the bonus goodies and having it delivered to my house was convenient so I put up with it. Recently I went through the process of requesting a new prescription and was sent a questionnaire, then subsequently charged $15 for a "consultation". Their nurse DENIED my request without giving any reason why other than "based on your survey responses it is highly recommended you see a doctor first". I do not have high blood pressure and I've recently had a well woman exam with no abnormalities. So now I'm SOL, I'm not able to get my pills and they still took my $15. Unbelievable. I have no idea where all these positive Google reviews on their site are coming from because so far as I can see, there is no actual way to review them on Google.

If you think it’s gonna be easy and convenient, think again

They were supposed to mail out my pills on July 5th. I hadn’t received any notifications so by July 9th I asked about it. They said sorry for the delay and the pharmacy team would reach out to me. Still hadn’t heard anything by July 13th so I asked about it again. Again they said the pharmacy team would reach out. At this point I’m out of pills. 2 hours later at 6pm, the pharmacy team told me they couldn’t verify my eligibility with my insurance and asked me if I got a new card. I logged into my insurance portal and saw my card was still the same, and that my prescription was said it was filled and processed on the 12th. So I told them all this and they never responded. The next day I waited but they still never got back to me and I still had no idea what’s going on. I sent them another text asking why they’re telling me about eligibility now when it was supposed to ship out 9 days ago and when I’ll be getting my prescription. Surprise, no answer. I had to call my insurance who had to call them to get them to finally fill it. Apparently, my insurance said it was a phone issue but it seems like the pharmacy gave up and never tried calling back or checking in with me. I was kept in the dark throughout this whole thing (despite the 3 times I asked about it) and had to go 4 days without pills. Terrible communication skills and even worse customer service. You guys suck. Totally less of a hassle to just go to a doctor.

Two stars for the response time

Two stars for the response time to my initial request, I have not had to speak to them since. I have tried several times to access my account on their website and it appears to be glitched? I can't access any information from when I received my birth control or any of my personal information I provided them. So I have no clue if it will renew on it's own or even if they have my information still.

When I spoke to the "medical professional" she seemed to be in a rush and didn't really appear to care to really talk about the different options or give an opinion on what she would recommend and why. On their website, all their reviews are 5 star and I thought that was awfully suspicious and it didn't show any dates. Glad I could come here and give my own personal, HONEST review.

Awful customer service terrible service

At first I loved Pill Club as it’s convenient, free, and the cute packaging was just a nice little plus. After using them for a few months they stopped sending pills and when I asked they told me they had closed out my account. I got it fixed but then was then told I would have to pay $30 a month instead of it being free although my insurance hadn’t changed at all. They now are sending my pills late because apparently “my insurance dictates how often I receive my prescription.” Customer service sucks as they only respond once every few days and never respond to emails. I was also told that I had already received my pills but backtracked hours later when I made a deal of it. Seriously awful. I would just suggest going to Planned Parenthood and having them ship it to you.

Very poor customer service.

While signing up, customer service seems great and very reachable. After they got their payment though, I have not been able to reach anyone. They give you a number to text, I have yet to actually receive a response from. Ever. I tried through email and was told there was a 3 day wait for a response, it’s been over a week.
For a company that provides telehealth service, you would think they would a bit more accessible. I have a feeling that by the time I ever get through to customer service, I will have already just made it to my doctors office.
The convenience is overshadowed by the very poor customer service.

Absolutely terrible customer service

Absolutely terrible customer service. You wait DAYS for a response and never get direct or clear answers. I missed one pill and it caused bleeding and I asked about when to start my next pack. They canceled my service and refuse to ship to me.

Just don’t use it

Just don’t use it. I loved it for a year or so since the pandemic started it was convenient and fun to get a cute little package each time, but then I switched over insurances and they pretty much canceled my subscription. I talked back and fourth over text for a while (which is their ONLY was of communication which is awful) and it made it very confusing because they kept asking me the same questions every time like I was chatting with multiple people… then I said you know what forget it this is awful and sent an email and they sort of got it together but then it started again with the confusing communication. Then I was on vacation and they kept texting me asking me to transfer my prescription from my pharmacy or my prescription will end?!! I didn’t have the information and I told them my situation, and so I never did give the information and they canceled it. I am VERY dissatisfied with the service here. Now I am without pills.

Would leave no stars if I could

Would leave no stars if I could. I used the pill club for two years with absolutely no issue. I love pill club. I recommended it to everyone. Then, despite me making the company aware of this from the beginning, the decided to cancel my prescription because of a small heart murmur I had 20 years ago. They refuse to give any real kind of customer service and everything is automated message and now a broke college student with no doctor has no way to get birth control. Thanks pill club! It’s really obvious how much you care about your customers!

Stole $115 from me.

Just don’t use the Pill Club. If you’re like me, you’re being sucked in by the ease and convenience but it won’t be convenient or easy. They sucked me into the year’s supply. Why not? It’s cheaper and I won’t have to worry about it for a whole year. Well they happily took my $115 and the package shipped quickly. I got a text and tracking number. Seemed great. Well then the package was delayed. Okay. That happens. Luckily I always make sure to order BC early so I don’t run out. So I had a few packs left; I could deal with a late shipment. Well then the package became VERY delayed and tracking stopped updating. I got an email from the pill club asking how my first order was going. I filled out the survey saying I was not satisfied because I never got the order. They texted me right back which was good! Okay, at least their customer service is on top of things right? They said they would forward the issue to their pharmacy so I could get a “one time courtesy fill” to replace my lost order. But when the pharmacy texted me, they said instead I should reach out to the post office to find the lost package. I responded asking if THEY could instead try to locate the lost package since they are customer service and should be servicing me, the customer. But they just kept insisting that I do it, even though I said why should I have to fight with the post office to get something I already paid for over a month ago? So the pill club had my $115, I had nothing, and I’m starting to stress because my supply is running low and now I have to fight with the post office. I’m an introvert with anxiety which is why I’m trying to get my BC online in the first place. If I wanted to talk on the phone or go somewhere in person I’d just go to the doc/pharmacy. But I call the post office during my work hours because I’m told by the pill club I’m SOL otherwise. The post office says I have to fill out a claim online. Well all the mandatory fields you have to fill in I didn’t know how to answer because I didn’t ship the package. I don’t know if it’s in a box or envelope, insured, certified, where it shipped from, etc. They are obviously the ones who should be filling out this claim because they know how they ship their own packages. So now I have to purchase birth control somewhere else and fast even though I already sent my budget to the pill club and got nothing in return. Asked them whatever happened to that “courtesy refill” I was offered at first. No response. Birth control is not something you can be late with. People could get pregnant. People could have hormonal imbalances and be in physical or emotional pain. People could get cystic acne for their prom or wedding pictures. You can’t just be like, oh well, you don’t get your medication this month. The pill clubs website says they “put your reproductive health first” but they definitely did not. They made it my responsibility to try to fix their mistake, did not send a replacement, and did not offer a refund. Simply took my money and said too bad so sad if I couldn’t find my package. Now, the post office losing packages isn't necessarily their fault, but look at all these reviews! Why are so many of their shipments not making it to recipients? I order a lot of stuff online and my packages never get lost. Why are so many getting lost from this company? Seems very shady. And even if it is all the post office’s fault, their customer service could still issue replacements or refunds but they don’t. They don’t seem to cate about retaining customers for future orders, just stealing one time payments from you. My advice is to try NURX or PRJKT RUBY instead for your online birth control.

And don’t be fooled by their responses to these reviews asking people to reach out them about these negative experiences. I have already been in contact with their “customer service” and they don’t help. They just say “sorry for the inconvenience.” Save yourself. Shop elsewhere.
