I recently purchased shared hosting from Hostens, thinking the 10GB disk space would be more than enough for my needs. I’ve only used around 2GB, but now I can't upload more files due to an unexpected inode limit capped at 100,000. This inode restriction was never mentioned upfront when I paid for the plan.

When I contacted support to request an increase in the inode limit, I was met with a rude response telling me to upgrade my plan. This was disappointing, especially because I’m only using less than 20% of my allocated disk space! Hostens is enforcing a custom rule that severely limits how customers can use the space they’ve paid for, which feels misleading and unfair.

If they’d disclosed this inode restriction before I signed up, I would have looked elsewhere. Hidden limits like this should be clearly stated upfront. Hostens needs to work on transparency with their customers and improve the professionalism of their support team.

Right now, I’m left with a hosting plan that isn’t functional for my needs unless I pay even more to upgrade. Very frustrating and definitely not the experience I was hoping for. I wouldn’t recommend this service unless you’re prepared to face limitations that aren’t made clear until after you’ve paid.

I have been using Hostens for a small business website for three years and the service has been excellent. Ieva recently helped me sort out a billing question and explained everything in a clear concise way. The website works well and is always up. Technical questions are always responded to quickly and the technical team has helped me fix several issues that were my fault.

Mostly delivers what they promise, great price, but watch out for IP reputation.

I have a VPS with Hostens which I use for e-mail and web hosting. Reliability, latency, and other network and service characteristics are good. However, I've had a lot of IP reputation issues and Microsoft usually blocks mail from my Hostens IP. For that reason I would probably not suggest using them for an e-mail server.

The service that Michail provided was exactly what I was hoping to get a support. He knew the limitations and the technical aspect of the issue and solved them for me.
