SCAM, PREDATORY PRACTICES & UNFAIR CHARGES – READ BEFORE BOOKING!

I strongly advise everyone to avoid Klass Wagen. My experience with them has been a nightmare involving inconsistent fees and what feels like a calculated attempt to charge for pre-existing damage.

The Issues I Encountered:

Impossible Inspection Conditions: I picked up my car at 12:30 AM in pitch-black conditions during heavy rain. As seen in my photos, the car was covered in water droplets and glare, making it physically impossible to detect minor surface scratches. Upon return they claimed two tiny scratches, charged me €250 without my agreement.

Unauthorized Deposit Amount: My booking voucher explicitly stated a maximum deposit of €2,300, yet they blocked €2,600 on my card and but 2300 in the contract.

Hidden & Inconsistent Fees: While the contract I signed in Vienna listed the Administrative Fee at €100, the "Penalty Notification" I received from their Hungary office suddenly increased this fee to €150.

Unprofessional Staff: At the time of pickup, only one agent was available who acted as agent and shuttle driver, stated he was in a rush to collect other passengers from the airport. When I requested a physical copy of the contract to review the terms, I was told it would be emailed and that I should read it there. My signature was taken under pressure of time.
He did not even take me to the car for inspection, just gave me the key and left. The car was parked in pitch black dark outdoors and I had to stand in a cold dark rainy night to take the picture.

During the return process, I explicitly informed their representative, Mr. Khachatian Artur, that I did not cause the scratches identified. However, the process was rushed when a colleague interrupted to complain that he was taking too much time with me. His exact words were: "You are with this customer for 15 mins". I felt pressured to sign the return document simply to leave the premises, despite my clear verbal disagreement with the damage assessment.

Unable to provide Evidence: They were unable to provide for "time-stamped, high-resolution photos" of the car from the previous return (before my rental) to prove those scratches weren't already there.

Final Warning: This company admitted to "errors" in their initial communication with me, yet they still pursued these unfair charges. If you value your money and your peace of mind, do not rent here. I am considering reporting this case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC).

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take all reviews seriously and would like to clarify several aspects of your experience.

First, we would like to point out that our vehicles are always inspected in proper conditions before each rental. Additionally, for transparency reasons, we encourage all customers to take photos and videos of the vehicle at pickup in order to document its condition. Unfortunately, the weather conditions at the time of your pickup were outside of our control. According to our records and inspection documents, the scratches mentioned were not present before your rental.

Regarding your statement that the damage charge was unauthorized, we do hold your written approval allowing us to process such charges in accordance with the signed rental agreement, which confirms your prior consent.

Concerning the security deposit, we acknowledge that the blocked amount exceeded the value stated on your voucher. However, we also provided you with a written confirmation that this discrepancy would be taken into consideration should any damage penalty be applied during your rental. We have correspondence available to support this.

With respect to the administrative fee, the rental contract clearly explains that the additional €50 applies in cases where the customer refuses to settle the damage charge at the time of vehicle return. This information is included in the signed agreement.

We also do not consider it fair to describe our staff as unprofessional because a printed contract was not provided. Our contracts are systematically sent by email to all customers, and our rental terms and conditions are available before the booking is confirmed and paid, including for reservations made through external platforms. For this reason, we believe customers are informed in advance about the contractual conditions before signing.

Regarding your interaction with our colleagues during the return process, while we always try to provide as much assistance and clarification as possible, we must also ensure that other customers are attended to in a timely manner. We appreciate your understanding that operational constraints may sometimes limit the amount of time available.

Finally, concerning the evidence of the vehicle’s previous condition, you were provided with a damage report at pickup indicating all registered damages on the vehicle. We also encourage customers to take their own photos immediately after collecting the car specifically to avoid misunderstandings and ensure full transparency.

We assure you that we carefully review all customer feedback, but we also expect reviews to remain fair, objective, and based on the full context of the rental process.

We hope this response helps clarify the situation and addresses your concerns.

I found the service to be good

I found the service to be good. We were picked up at the airport and handed over the keys to the car. Everything went smoothly.

I was a little suspicious when I had to put the damage deposit down and was provided with a long list of items that we could be charged for, but when we returned the vehicle, there were no issues. The staff was very helpful when we dropped off the vehicle to get us back to our airport hotel

Excellent car and affordable

The pickup was quick. The prices were affordable. The car was excellent. The staff was helpful. Only thing is that it is 5-10 mins from airport. But that’s why they are affordable. They save on the rents of airport and pass these savings to customers. And they provide shuttle for transfer. Super convenient
