Awful company was quoted £70 on the phone and ended up being £312 for a basic lock not sure drilling the lock instead was completely necessary we only locked the keys inside the flat.
Probably got fleeced
Probably got fleeced, but needed to get back into my apartment.
Charged £472.80 to change one yale lock mid-day weekend, with the receipt charging:
1 - out of hours emergency callout (weekend mid-day, not sure if that's out of hours, but maybe) - £70.80
2 - labour for opening the door (claimed he wouldn't be able to pick the lock, so needed to drill it) - £144
3 - supplying a new yale rim cylinder lock w/ 2 keys - £216
4 - labour for fitting new cylinder - £42
5 - one year waranty free - £0
To be fair, the lock was fairly loose from the previous installation (supplied by the landlord), with the locksmith saying they hadn't filed away the screw/used the correct type of screw when he got the lock off (and the current one does seem more solid, but time will tell). (Giving them one star for that)
also signed 'y' himself on the receipt, where it says 'I agreed to the costs prior to the work being carried out', which I'm only noticing now.
Would suggest using Tilmens.
Scam artist avoid at all costs
SCAM
This company website is now locksmith-expert-24h.co.uk same one as other people mentioned in the other reviews. They keep changing the website once it gets lots of negative reviews. Grant Co, 24 Albert Road, London, Romford, RM1 2PJ, avoid at all costs or you will be scammed
247 locksmith grant and co services scam
Used this company last week. They were trading as 247 Locksmith or 24hrslocksmith website but it looks like they're about to rebrand as the number I called last week is no longer in service, nor are any of the other numbers on the site.
I was quoted £55 on the phone to remove a jammed and broken key, was told no callout fee despite specifically asking.
Was told locksmith would call when he arrived but despite me taking a walk and not being at the flat when he turned up, he never attempted to call. Instead I walked up on him snooping around, looking for me. First of many red flags! Obviously didn't want me to have a traceable contact number.
Locksmith made a huge drama that he'd have to drill through my lock and replace it for £500 because it was supposedly high security. I refused to pay that so he charged £208 including £49 callout fee (despite me being told there was none) just to drill the lock and let me in the house which I felt was extortionate but he was the second company I called and I needed to get in.
He kept trying to persuade me to let him replace the lock by asking how much of the £500 I was willing to pay. I had to be very firm with him as he asked multiple times. I said I just wanted the door open, and I'd get another locksmith to finish the job as I could still get in and lock the door.
Invoiced to Grant and Co Services like everyone else.
Next day, second locksmith said the lock shouldn't have needed drilling at all! The second locksmith only replaced the part of the lock that 247 Locksmith broke - I paid them to damage my lock basically!
I tried calling 247 Locksmith back and after I said I wanted to complain, I was hung up on.
Sadly, most people won't find these reviews easily because they conveniently use generic terms and company names. They also pay to be top search on Google, so will catch a lot of people who'll realise what's happened too late.
I'm also a young woman living alone, which I believe the locksmith took advantage of.
Scam
Scam! Avoid!
We’ve been quoted 59£ and charged almost 800£. The “locksmith” did a pretty terrible job and broke our doorframe. He took advantage of us being busy with the crying baby!
Avoid at all cost

270£ to open my door (it took 15 mins) ,

total: 724.80
I call this a scam what do you call it?
Total scammers
Scammers
Scammers - to be sure- just wish I had read the reviews first. Now £300 worse off for a job that was not necessary. They didn’t even try to solve the problem before saying it was impossible. - Please avoid!

My 19 year old daughter was home alone and locked herself out. They quoted £49 on the phone, £149 when he turned up and demanded £248 when he finished the job. A job that took 10 minutes and £14 lock replacement. Avoid these scammers at all cost.
Terrible company! Avoid at all cost!!
Terrible company, terrible customer services. Liars and rogue!!! Lady who called herself Kathleen kept interrupting me on the call and abruptly ended the call. After spending over a £1000 in changing locks. The lock had issues and after several calls and been continually told lies about the date the fitter was coming back to repair the error. Customer service member was also rude. Terrible service!

I arranged a callout before reading the appalling reviews and so went to cancel with Prestige Locksmiths. The phone line has gone down so they cannot be contacted except by message. I have messaged to cancel. Their website is also down. Obviously scammers
I will not use them again
I locked myself out (this was not first time, due to how it is designed my rented property key … ) Over a phone they say it is £50 and and will be in 20 min, with holding line. But they hanged me up, and cannot reach them any more when I call back. The lock smith arrived one and half hour later. Saying £50 plus emergency fee £60 and VAT and I have to pay total £132. (Last time it was £90 with another lock smith via my property agent, which I should have taken that route, instead of using here).
First thing lock smith asked me on arrival is how much it cost me last time, and how desperately I want to/ need to get in the house, as if he is deciding price based on my situation. I tried to argue but there is no way I can argue after he arrived (and he said even if I do not use his service he will charge me £60 for him already arriving) , and in the situation of locked out. I should have read review here before using it. I felt I was taking an advantage of the situation. I appreciate unlock is done but pricing was very unclear to me.
Avoid!
I believe this company is also Prestige Locksmiths 24h and also Fotress locks 24h, they go by many names and numbers. They even have the exact same website but change the logo depending on which one you click and the have multiple numbers. Total scammers, whilst the technician/customer contact seemed genuine they will fully take advantage of your situation and leave a hefty bill. Avoid!!!! Wish there was a way to stop people like this.
Scammers!! Call the police
Scammers!!! Please report to trading standards. Elderly mother charged £1100 on the doorstep for a £200 quoted job. I’ve called police & registered with Action Fraud but everyone needs to do this!
Scammers
Scammers, they tell you £50 over the phone. Comes here does about 1 hour work and 3 locks worth no more than £80total then they charge £500 and say VAT was not included(they never mentioned this). Just purely scammers
Exploitative
Exploitative. Quoted £90 + VAT to replace a gearbox. Half hour job and charged £258. Was told this was due to a “communication breakdown”. Avoid them.
Absolutely vile people
Absolutely vile people! Robbed my elderly mother of over £600 just to change a barrel! Disgusting vile evil
Rip off
Rip off - avoid. They've just been around. Quoted £59 but told this might change. Engineer said 110 plus VAT as he needs to drill through the lock, didn't even try to pick it or run a card down the inside (which a previous locksmith to spring the lock but this guy said it was 'banned' by his compnay. Then wanted to charge me £140 for a basic new lock plus labour and VAT. When I said no way, he tried to add £60 call out fee on top of the 110 plus VAT. I said no. This company will exploit you - avoid!!!
Horrendous
Horrendous. Said they would arrive in 25 minutes. After 35 minutes I called and they were allegedly 15 minutes away. After 15 minutes I called again and they were another 5 minutes away. When the locksmith finally arrived 35 minutes late he didn’t have the right tools and wanted to charge £55 more than we were quoted. We sent him away and called a local locksmith who arrived in 10 minutes. All the reviews here tell a similar story - this company seems to be run by crooks.
OVERCHARGED EXTREMELY £600!!
OVERCHARGED EXTREMELY £600!!! YOU ARE IN TROUBLE
Scammers
Told me they’d arrive in 25mins, called after 30mins and they said it would be another 25mins. Took 1h10 in total to arrive. Wouldn’t give me a price on the phone. Didn’t even bring a master key, just shoved a bit of card to open the lock and charged £290 which I didn’t have.
