They took £480 for a blocked toilet…
They took £480 for a blocked toilet that wasn't fixed or completed and then they demanded more money to fix it even though it wasn't through misuse and under guarantee. When approached they were very defensive , negative and argumentative and did not sort it out as an emergency even though they claim to be 24 hours on their site. Exploitative, profiteering, unprofessional and incompetent. Avoid and do not trust them.

In response to your review I would like to note the following points:-
- On our original attendance to the property for a blocked toilet, numerous wet wipes were visible in the toilet. This is a clear misuse of the system. Our engineers pulled out vast amounts of wet wipes from the system using a flexshaft machine, this process was completed numerous times but still did not clear the blockage. The engineers had to access the waste pipe under the bath to clear the blockage using the HPWJ and microbore hose. It had to be cleared several times as it continued to block up again. The pipework was then cleaned to ensure it was clear of wipes. It was tested and left free flowing
- The toilet is located in a loft area which has been converted into a studio flat, it has been installed on the opposite side of the property to where the stack pipe is located. The pipework from the toilet runs directly into a 90 degree bend and then into another 90 degree bend behind the bath and then we suspect it runs through the joist of the floor, approx. 8m across the building
- You were advised upon completion that the works were not guaranteed due to the misuse of the system by your tenant and because of the way the toilet has been installed
- The toilet was clear and flowing for 7 days before you called on Friday evening and reported a further blockage
- Even though the works were not guaranteed it was arranged for our Director to return to the property on the Saturday morning, as all our engineers were fully booked, as a gesture of goodwill
- Following texts to our Director in the early hours of Saturday morning, he called as agreed at 9am and advised he would be on his way to the property shortly. He called the tenant on his way to the property who advised they were not available. He then contacted you and explained and the visit was rearranged for the next morning
- We attended to the property as arranged. Clearance was attempted using the flexshaft through the toilet to no avail. Undeterred, he climbed out onto the pitched roof to gain access to the pipework and attempted to clear using the flexshaft and rods but this was also unsuccessful
- He tried to contact you to discuss the next steps that would have to be taken but there was no answer. When you called him back that afternoon the above details were reiterated to you and advised a 2 man crew would need to attend. You requested that same day but unfortunately it was not possible
- You became very aggressive and angry on the telephone to the Director and proceeded to scream down the phone, he couldn't actually make out most of what was said, and then hung up the phone
- At no point during that conversation was any demand for money made, in fact charges for the further works required wasn't even mentioned
As a company we have been sympathetic to the problem you are facing, which is why, even though the works weren't guaranteed, our Director attended to the property to try and resolve the issue.

Cleaning out drains can’t be the most pleasant of jobs... but these two did so with a smile.

Great company. Booked a call out online as the website had a live chat option & was easy to navigate. Joe came the following day & was friendly, informative & efficient. Even though my blocked pipe problem was internal the area was left clean, tidy & odour free. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent service from start to finish
It was very easy to book. The engineer came on time and was efficient and did the job with minimum fuss and gave advice. Did not encourage me to go with the more expensive option but worked hard to clear a drain.

London Drains Direct provided a quick, professional service I would highly recommend them. I called due to a blockage and the office informed me that their engineer Joe was in my area and would head my way immediately. He arrived within the hour and carried out a cctv survey and quickly identified a blockage which was cleared. Very happy to pay the price quoted for a 2 hour turn around and I received the pdf report and the video surveillance the following day. I would highly recommend them.

Good job done quickly!
I contacted the above company regarding an issue I had with my kitchen drains, slow draining and a unpleasant smell. After a brief description of the problem I was quoted a reasonable price and given a time slot for the job.
The engineers arrived in a timely manner and the job was done quite quickly and efficiently. No messing around to make the job seem larger than it actually was and the price I paid was the price I was quoted. No hidden fees and all that nonsense.
The engineers were friendly young lads too. Would recommend.

I requested a CCTV survey to be performed in order to assist in selling my property which was £180+VAT. The engineer arrived within the same day and the time window specified and began to start the CCTV survey however the condition of the drains did not allow the engineer to proceed.
The engineer informed me that it would be £120+VAT to clear the drain and proceed with the survey, and I would not be billed if I did not wish to proceed. I inspected the condition of the drains and agreed that it was necessary to clear, which was performed within 20 minutes. The survey was then conducted within the hour and I was sent a full PDF and video report after 3 days.
The company was clear in their process and provided me financial clarity up front of which I could walk away if not required. I have used other drainage companies in the past who have billed me after the fact, and left a sour taste in my mouth. I would recommend these guys for the future, especially the engineer Ben!

£144 for 5 minutes of cleaning.. absurd.
Wish I had read the reviews before using these guys!
I used these guys back in July on a property we were looking at purchasing.
Upon the two engineers arrival, they informed me that due to the state of the drains that they would need a clean. The house was in a poor condition, and even with no 'drains knowledge' I could see they needed cleaning to get access. They explained this would be £120+VAT, I agreed to this, primarily because they said it would take between 30-60 minutes, and given there were two engineers I could justify the cost somewhat.
The surveyors then completed the clean in I would estimate under 5 minutes (at an absolute maximum!). I appreciate there are costs, timing and training associated with doing this (hence why when I was told it would be an hour I could understand this), however to pay £120+VAT for quite literally a few minutes of cleaning seems somewhat extortionate in my eyes.
They then continued to complete the CCTV survey as planned, and all in all were with me for 25 minutes maximum to complete the whole job (inc the cleaning).
I have absolutely no issue in paying the full CCTV survey cost as I appreciate the time and effort it takes to complete the work and then compile the comprehensive report, however paying £144 for <5 minutes cleaning leaves a sour taste.
I did receive the report in the end, however for these reasons will absolutely not be using London Drains for the expensive repair work that is required.
Check reviews online before booking anything in please.

It is unfortunate that you were displeased at the service we provided as we always strive to provide customers with the 5 star experience.
We have spoken with the operatives who attended site and they stated that they explained that the drainage system was blocked and required high pressure water jetting in order to clear so they could carry out the CCTV survey, they explained the cost which was involved to which you agreed.
Unfortunately the unblocking was required in order to be able to carry out the survey, if you had requested for us not to complete the works the operatives would have walked away and there would have been absolutely no charge.
The operatives have stated that the clearance and clean to roughly 15 minutes but unfortunately you did not have the key to the property so the operatives couldn't access the drains at the rear.
As stated on our email correspondence we do invest heavily on the training of our operatives and our equipment which in turn makes them more efficient when it comes to completing their works.
As stated via email it was our job to provide you with a full comprehensive report and a quote for the follow on works, whether or not you decide to use our company for those works is absolutely your prerogative.
Our prices can be found on our website as to provide complete transparency.

We have the Live Chat transcript from the booking which proves exactly what was quoted and these prices are exactly what is stated on our website.
The blocked toilet could not be cleared manually and the engineer had to use machinery to clear it. Your husband (Arshad Ali) who was on site (you were not present) refused to pay the £144 and tried to give our engineer £72 cash (he filmed himself handing it over but not our engineer giving it back to him) and stated that was what was quoted.
Our invoice is still outstanding for payment and you have ignored the letters from our solicitors regarding the monies owed.

when we asked for price they send a link which mentioned (manual 60+vat and machine advance 120+vat)
we approach them for 60+vat for toilet blockage .
when the guy come he checks the toilet and asked me that i will bring the tools from my van he did the job in 8min when he make the bill was 120+vat instead of 60+ vat . when i asked we booked for 60+vat he starts arguing . i asked him you did not tell me after having a look at toilet that it will cost 120+vat instead of 60+vat .
when you done now you are forcing me to pay £144.00 . he was behaving very badly.he threatening me i will knock you down . i will take you to court . i said ok fine see you then in court but then he stop his van in front of my car do not let me go. i filmed every single moment of his act.
then he said ok give money £72 pound which you booked i asked so you agree he said yes
i asked him amend the invoice then i will give you £72 pound . he said first you give me money then i will give you invoice as i hand over the money he refused to give me invoice and after short a while run away.
2nd day i received the call from his company that i did not pay . when i told her that your driver took £72 pound for the job she denied that driver did not take any money from you and ask me to pay £144 .
when i told her that i have video in which he took money and agreed on £72 so then she said ok so you need to pay £72 pound more.
and this still going on...
they just trap us by mentioning 60+vat fixed price but they never ever done the job in 60+vat
they are very cleaver in this game

I had the above company today,
they are not professional, they try to clean my drain, after all the explanation I gave, they insisted on my drain is broken after 5 to 7 minute they charge me £144.
and they said that my drain is broken and can't carry the work it might break my machine!
so please check what you are getting from them, As they we will sort?
the next step was to dig cross the house till replace the drain pipe which he's not sure is is broken or not!

We have spoken with the operatives who attended site and checked the paperwork completed at the time of our visit. The engineers were on site for an hour attempting to clear the blockage and they advised you that they were unable to clear it as the pipework had collapsed as when they were jetting pea shingle and fragments of pipework were coming back.
They kept you updated whilst on site and provided you with a fixed price quotation for the excavation works that were required to replace the collapsed pipework, this was then left completely up to you whether or not you wanted to proceed.
The charge for £144 was exactly as was quoted when the booking was made and our prices can be found on our website as to provide complete transparency.
