I honestly cannot recommend Dr Ankur Barua and the whole team at Midland Eye highly enough.

My mum had cataract surgery on both eyes, and because she also suffers from uveitis, we were understandably quite worried about how everything would go. From the very beginning, Dr Barua was absolutely fantastic. He was calm, reassuring, extremely professional and took the time to explain everything properly to us. We never felt rushed, and he always made sure we understood what was happening and what to expect.

Because of the uveitis, my mum’s case was not completely straightforward, so it was especially important for us to feel that she was in experienced and capable hands. Dr Barua gave us that confidence from the start. Both surgeries were handled with great care, and the follow-up and attention afterwards were just as reassuring.

The whole team at Midland Eye were wonderful as well. Everyone was kind, welcoming and patient with my mum, and they made what could have been a very stressful experience feel much easier.

I also want to give a special mention to Kate, who was incredibly helpful throughout the process, especially with all the documentation we needed. She was always approachable, responsive and willing to help, which made a huge difference for us. Dealing with paperwork alongside medical treatment can be stressful, so having someone like Kate there to support us was genuinely appreciated.

What stood out to us most was that we never felt like just another patient. There was a real sense of care and attention throughout the whole experience, from the medical side to the administrative side.

We are extremely happy with the outcome of both surgeries and very grateful for everything Dr Barua and the Midland Eye team have done for my mum. Seeing the improvement in her vision has made such a difference to her day-to-day life.

From the first time I visited Midland Eye I was treated with the utmost respect, friendliness and professionalism by all members of staff. I had numerous checks on my eyes and the procedures that were to be carried out were explained to me simply and clearly. The premises are first-class and I had full confidence in the care and treatment that I was to have. Since then I've been overwhelmed by the clarity of my vision. I have suffered no after-effects nor pain. All in all, a truly wonderful experience. I can't thank everyone at Midland Eye enough.

Having cataract surgery has been vitally important to me. As a keen amateur photographer, I wanted to aim as close to perfection as possible. It is now 18 months since my first cataract was done. The thoughts of having to go through cataract surgery felt terrifying but the experience of having it, plus having to have laser treatment to zap the very common film which often happens soon after surgery, was so efficiently and speedily dealt with, that I can offer total reassurances to anyone, like myself, with a nervous disposition. My eyesight is now free from the discolouration caused by cataracts and I have good vision without specs, as well as with specs. The focus in my left eye was much worse than in my right eye. Be very patient with yourself after surgery, the improvements continue for a good 12 months or more. Many thanks to my consultant for his kind and responsive manner.

All of the nurses were very kind and explained everything that was going to happen.

Staff were welcoming and they made me feel at ease because I was very nervous. Very caring and competent and as far as I can tell - not fully recovered yet - the operation was successful. Special mention to Dr Park and his anesthetist Mr King.

First rate professional and personal care from Mr Ressiniotis. Excellent facilities and based on my experience Midland Eye certainly don't treat the patient as a 'number'.

Had both cataract surgeries performed here, all staff from reception to optometrists nurses and consultants were professional .
To make the experience 5* it would of improved my recovery if I had been followed up by a phone call a few days following surgery.

My brother Harry has been attending the Birmingham Eye Hospital Dudley Rd. for almost 6 yrs having been affected by the Covid Epidemic 2020. I cannot praise enough the service and care Harry has received from all of the medical team and staff. The care he has received has been regular and constant and second to non! The team have never given up on him! even though quite old now! The team are strong work together and are always helpful. The family personally thank Mr. Pandey and Mr. Aralikatti - cannot praise them enough - there are no words!! Thank you Team

It is rare to find people who really care about their customers and are thoughtful and patience to ensure they give their customers the individual care to match their unique situation. Coupled with the expertise to deliver a skilful and successful procedure is indeed rare - and they delivered. Thank you to every body involved and the empathy shown. The staff were extremely helpful from the beginning and always available to answer any queries. Appointments run smoothly and promptly reducing waiting time.

I was visiting Midland Eye for my third IPL Treatment and was met by Mr Ali. A very pleasant, highly skilled and knowledgeable gentleman. My treatment was performed with ease and Mr Ali kept me informed at every step. Many thanks.

Midland Eye provided a very professional friendly service which gave me confidence for the upcoming cataract surgery. Everything went smoothly for the operations with Mr Barua and the results after the surgery were excellent . After being given the all clear I developed some inflammation in the right eye which was addressed successfully and I was reassured not to worry. All my detailed questions were answered by Dhillon Memhi the optometrist which gave me a great deal of reassurance .

My wife was slightly nervous at first but the team put her at ease. They worked quickly and efficiently to remove her cataract. Afterwards one of the nurses explained the aftercare arrangements and gave written instructions on how to contact them should she need any assistance or have any concerns. Her eye is making good recovery and she has not needed to call them. Fantastic service from start to finish. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending them for cataract surgery.

The whole team are professional, calming and nothing is too much trouble.
