I visited for my initial assessment. During the appointment I was made comfortable, given time to ask as many questions as I needed (I asked a lot). I had a full assessment lasting 90mins and at no point was I pressured or made to feel I had to make a decision. Very professional. The staff very friendly and reassuring.

I had a cataract removed from my right eye last February and a new EDOF lens inserted by Mr Mark Lane. I was very impressed with the whole procedure and all the staff at Midland Eye. The operation was a complete success and I now have 20/20 vision in my right eye.
I would totally recommend Midland Eye for anyone requiring this procedure

I cannot thank the team at Midland Eye enough for my recent cataract surgery. I was quite nervous prior to the procedure but the entire team and Mr Barua were reassuring and walked me through every step. The surgery itself was quick and painless. Now, just a few weeks later i have clear vision and no longer need to rely on glasses.

The team at Midland Eye are fantastic. I was only there for biometry and optometry (no surgery) but I was treated with kindness and courtesy throughout. The team are wonderfully competent. I'll mention Dina in particular as a very safe pair of hands and Sarah for her efficiency in organising my appointment at short notice.

Had cataract surgery on 21/5/26 all the staff were wonderful in particular jenny the recovery nurse. What a marvellous person so kind and caring. Would recommend this hospital to anyone.

Mr. Park is my surgeon on the NHS. I chose to go privately due to wait times and the complexity of my various conditions. I’ve now had four surgeries privately with Midland eye and will be transferring all my care to them going forward. Excellent service. The overall experience was beyond expectations, and my eye sight has been restored. I could never had hoped for anything better. Would highly recommend.

Mr Barua was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain each step clearly, which made me feel completely at ease and confident in the process. Kate Gerrard was also brilliant—supportive, attentive, and always available to answer any questions.

Corneal transplant due to Fuch's Dystrophy in right eye.

I cannot recommend the team at Midland Eye more highly as the process was great from start to finish. It has been nothing short of a miracle to get my sight back.

In particular I would like to acknowledge the work of Mr Barua. He is an outstanding surgeon who has amazing knowledge, understanding, experience and skill with this type of surgery. He translates complex medical language in to simple explanations to describe what Fuch's Dystropy is, and what the practical procedure will be on the day of surgery. He has a calm, caring and professional manner and is very approachable.

His support team of ophthalmologists and optometrists all added to the professional care I received. Along with Kate Gerrard Refractive Clinical Liaison who managed and co-ordinated the overall process. She has been outstanding in her approachability, ability with managing the diary and after care. An excellent team. 10/10.

In March 2026 I recently underwent an assessment for cataract treatment and had the privilege of being cared for by an exceptional consultant and a truly outstanding clinical liaison manager. From start to finish, the experience was defined by professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to patient care.
Mr Ankur Barua (consultant) reviewed all the assessment tests and demonstrated remarkable expertise, taking the time to explain every step of the process with clarity and reassurance. Their calm, confident manner immediately put me at ease. It’s rare to encounter a clinician who combines such technical excellence with genuine warmth, but they achieved both effortlessly.
Kate (refractive clinical liaison manager) was equally impressive. Kate coordinated every aspect of my care with efficiency and kindness, ensuring I felt supported and informed throughout. Nothing was ever too much trouble; they anticipated questions before I even asked them and made the entire journey seamless. Their communication was exemplary, and empathy made a real difference at a time when reassurance matters most.

My experience with Midland Eye was amazing, I totally recommend them, everyone was professional, and caring, it only took 6 weeks from my first consultation to my procedure.

Had a brilliant experience from start to finish. I am very thankful to all the staff who have enabled me to see for the first time in decades without glasses. The staff are very friendly, positive, cheerful and each was very knowledgeable in their field. I had initially been recommended to Midland Eye by a family member who also had an excellent experience. I was also able to learn more about them via their website.
I was able to book a free consultation to check for laser eye eligibility. They got back to me very quickly. During the eligibility session, dry eye was identified and I was treated for this. In a follow up appointment weeks later I was able to really explore options available to me.
I was able to meet and directly speak with consultant, Mr Ankur Barua, who later also performed the eye surgery with his team. It was good to talk through what I was looking to achieve by the surgery and it was good to get to know who would be performing the surgery. The surgery went very well and there was nothing to fear from the laser or procedure as I had been well informed about what would happen both prior to the operation and just before.
I had been able to book in surgery dates with the help of Refractive Clinical Liaison Kate Gerrard, who answered all my numerous queries in good time which helped me in making my decision.
I also want to give a mention and thank you to the member of staff who went through the after surgery medications with me, there was a lot of specific instructions which were explained to me very well. Thanks again!
