Had a brilliant experience from start to finish. I am very thankful to all the staff who have enabled me to see for the first time in decades without glasses. The staff are very friendly, positive, cheerful and each was very knowledgeable in their field. I had initially been recommended to Midland Eye by a family member who also had an excellent experience. I was also able to learn more about them via their website.
I was able to book a free consultation to check for laser eye eligibility. They got back to me very quickly. During the eligibility session, dry eye was identified and I was treated for this. In a follow up appointment weeks later I was able to really explore options available to me.
I was able to meet and directly speak with consultant, Mr Ankur Barua, who later also performed the eye surgery with his team. It was good to talk through what I was looking to achieve by the surgery and it was good to get to know who would be performing the surgery. The surgery went very well and there was nothing to fear from the laser or procedure as I had been well informed about what would happen both prior to the operation and just before.
I had been able to book in surgery dates with the help of Refractive Clinical Liaison Kate Gerrard, who answered all my numerous queries in good time which helped me in making my decision.
I also want to give a mention and thank you to the member of staff who went through the after surgery medications with me, there was a lot of specific instructions which were explained to me very well. Thanks again!

Excellent service from Mr Barua and Kate at Midland Eye. I had ICL surgery on both eyes. Another company had been trying to force me down the total lens replacement route for vision correction, Mr Barua was able to explain to me in plain language why this wasn’t the best solution for me and provide ICL as a better alternative. The whole process was great from start to finish. The surgical team were ace, so calm and professional, they really put me at ease. Had a textbook recovery, all went to plan, and it is nothing short of life changing for me to wake up in the morning and be able to see. Aftercare has also been very thorough. Couldn’t rate the team at Midland Eye highly enough!

Very impressed with this clinic, the staff and Aidan Murray. I had an upper blepharoplasty, chose local to ensure I had ease of access for peace of mind. This worked out well after an allergy to antibiotics which was resolved promptly. 6 months after procedure although very pleased with results there was one element I was unsure of, again seamless experience and revision procedure provided to resolve. Highly recommend Mr Murray and his surgical team. Thank you for being both kind and professional.

Very happy with treatment received.
Room for improvement in the booking process: for example, i) my NHS referral couldn't be located when I called to confirm and ii) I was told to exect 12 weeks wait time, then told after twelve weeks the wait time is actually 14 weeks.
With hindsight, I may have considered other clinics with signifianctly less wait time (for Laser YAG).

I had a great experience at Midland Eye under the care of Mr Barua. I was very nervous about having the procedure done, he was a calming presence and really put me at ease. The aftercare that he provided was excellent and I have had fantastic results. I am so pleased with the outcome and my only regret is not having it done sooner. Kate Gerrard was also great and sorting out my appointments and generally keeping me updated. If I ever needed any further treatment for my eyes I would not hesitate to book with them again.

I had a vitrecomy procedure done in both my eyes as well as cataracts over a 5 month period.
I had worked myself up into a bit of a state before the first one. All the staff were faultless, kind, encouraging and wonderful, Carmen in particular was outstanding and I think she felt my distress more than I did.
The results from the first operation were better than I could have imagined, prompting me to put Carmen through it all over again.
I’m in my 70’s and have been wearing glasses all the time for most of my life, unbelievably I don’t anymore ( I do need a pair of reeders to see small print in poor light … but that’s all).. it wasn’t cheap but then what price do you put on your eyes?
Finally a very special thank you to the incredible skill, patience and kindness of Mr Park ..

Having completed the whole process for cataract surgery in both eyes, I can now fully praise: Jen for Clinical liaison, Nurse Donna, surgeons, Mr Barua, Mr Ting and Professor Shah, along with optometrist Zac for their skills, care and professionalism. Thank you all for your expertise, thoroughness and time. I now have good, clear eyesight and really appreciate the work Midlands Eye have provided.

I had a corneal graft on the 9th November 2025. Mr Barua performed the operation. He had already talked me through the procedure but I was still nervous. I need not have worried as everyone involved from my appointment to the operation and afterwards were fantastic and very caring.
I can’t thank Mr Barua enough for his operating expertise and to Kate Gerrard his secretary for all her help in filling in forms and patiently answering all my questions.
I cannot recommend too highly the Midland Eye Clinic.

In April 2025 I had a corneal transplant. This involved inserting the inner layer from a donated cornea into my right eye to replace my cornea cells which were vanishing. This is an extremely difficult operation and was carried out with great skill by Mr Barua, who at the same time dealt with my cataract. The improvement in my sight has been remarkable. In August 2025 in my left eye Me Barua performed a cataract operation while preserving the deterioration cornea in that eye, also a difficult procedure. Again the improvement in my sight has been excellent and I am now able to drive again. The care and aftercare has been exemplary. Midland Eye is both very professional and very friendly and caring.
