Harassment
My autorenewal bounced as I had cancelled the credit card, but RAC levied a penalty befoee I had a chance to rectify it, then they cancelled the policy anyway and levied a cancellation fee, now have added other unexplained fees and threaten debt collectors. Straight up harrassment, a real swine of a company.

Admin fee is ok but not adding to insurance
Contacted because of a typing error spotted at renewal time. This led to an admin fee which is acceptable but also an addition to the insurance cost which is not. I will not be renewing next year

Deliberately misleading quote
When I got the quote, your representative quoted the cost of insurance element only, not the total price payable, which had gone up by nearly £200, so you are clearly back to your price walking tactics. You may feel this is acceptable, but I don’t, and will NEVER use you again for either breakdown cover or car insurance when next years policy comes round.
I was contacted by RAC after writing this review. They apologised for an error made by a staff member and honoured the quote I got for £406 and will now refund me £151, so I am amending their rating from 1 star to 4 stars for owning the error and rectifying it quickly.

No notification of a failed payment
No notification of a failed payment. Straight into an extra charge then cancellation. Not able to do anything on self-service - no option to add a new card. It's a trap. Ended up on a call to Customer services team, hallelujah finally got a number to contact

easy to speak to an operative who was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful the quote was higher than last year to be expected and higher than 2 other companies but not by very much and my brother is very very happy with the RAC that he did not want to change.

Been with RAC for a few years now and luckily never had to contact them regarding a claim, so I can't comment on the service of that. I find their app very useful. It gives you a reminder of your MOT being due, service being due. Gives you offers and loads of information.

A massive additional premium for new…
A massive additional premium for new car even though the new car was an update of the last. Redirected to a supervisor who never returned my call. A request for proof of a NCB even though I am now in year three with the company and proof provided in 2024.
