Translink trains and good customer service

I boarded the 09:10 Translink outward bound train from Grand Central to Derry/L.derry/Doire and when it arrived at Coleraine Station it terminated this was after further delays of up to ten minutes. There was no communication from Translink as to why the termination at Coleraine. It is my understanding that same train commenced the return journey to Grand Central thus in my limited experience was proof that the train was serviceable. No Translink staff communicated as to why the 09:10 terminated however one member of staff stated "this is a regular occurrence as to ensure the timetable is on schedule. Forget about the twenty customers who had to board a bus without any heating and incurred delays with the roadworks and who had to make their own way to the City as the bus terminated at the train station in the Waterside.

Horrible service. Children left in pouring rain and cold.

Awful service. I was waiting outside my school for almost an hour. All my school books, my hair and my bag are soaked. The bus never came. This has happened before and we were only told today AS the buses left because the driver called another to find out why multiple children wers being left out in the cold and pouring rain. We had to get my sisters friend to call her mother and have her leave work, causing her to lose half a days pay. My important documents i needed to apply for a new passport and uniform are soaked through. It has been multiple times, round 10-14 times without any prior warning that this has happened now. Its unfair the bus drivers can just decide theyre not coming on certain days.

And the staff memeber that manned the ticket machine in colraine n.ireland n.i rails on the 24-01-26 at 1.20 needs a good talking to shoutung at me in frint of my kid when i kindly asked can this check me change then to be fallowed out by staff and laughed at fo4 asking to chnage a ticket bullies they refused to five there name which they should have to

Absolutely vile and disgusting…

Absolutely vile and disgusting transport conditions, dirty train carriages with lingering smell of sewage, no running water or soap in bathrooms. If only these trains were on time which they almost never are. The state of these is only comparable to public transport in mumbai. Abysmal to charge such astronomical prices to sit in a moving pigsty. There should be a serious investigation done into translink company practices, spent £340 millions on opening the unnecessary vanity project which is grand central station but refuse to maintain any acceptable standard to their daily services, absolute JOKE.

The late evening timetable are the most…

The late evening timetables are the most confusing I have ever seen. They give different times with enigma type codes. When you get to the station in Belfast you find the service does not exist. Then you wait another 80 minutes to an hour to get the last train. This depends on which day of the week it is. Northern Ireland railways basically have just 3 lines to run which should make for an efficient service. People in Northern Ireland like to go out in the evening to Belfast so put on a proper service and print some clear timetables. Especially for older folks who don’t have smartphones. Run trains every 30 minutes and serve the public. Huge investment in a nice new station but same old trains and same poor service. In the end folk won’t use the railways anymore because it’s run by imbeciles.

absolutely shocking

absolutely shocking. The shuttle bus from derry bus station is meant to leave passengers to the train station on time for the train. Bus left us late and translink worker closed the doors to the train in our faces. If you as a business have a shuttle bus specifically made to take people to the train it should be on time. Last time i’ll use these services, don’t recommend atall

Do not use any of them services. X1 was so late and I missed flight for because of ulster bus 5 hours from Downpatrick wasn't enough to get to the Dublin airport.
They are should be called gypsy bus. They are last bastards on the world. Do not use them. That will cost you a lot more.

firstly whoever that bald man was in the waterside train station is asking to be FIRED. he was judging my looks cheekyily and snarkily by saying im not under 16 which i clearly am and he gave all my friends a child ticket except me causing me to pay an extra 5 pound when i was tight for money so i couldnt even eat anything. the man had a tone with me saying u sure dont look under 16 i could say he looks diabetic but he isnt so his point is invalid. says i need to find a way to prove im under 16 and when i ask how am i meant to do that he doesnt take me on but yet decides to write me up an adult ticket causing a scene making it publicly humiliating for me. when in belfast coming back to derry was a hassle. they gave us the wrong times causing me to wait an hour before getting on the train unreliable. when waiting an hour with 7 people youd expect you know youd get a table but no this FAT bald man and his fudging pizza box decided no he ran on past me shoved me i nearly fell on the rails. translink pls find it in ur heart to make a new policy of atleast 3 people to a table and stop people shovinf and pushing at me

Utterly useless service. Main Glider buses during the morning rush hours constantly overfilled, to the point where you can't even get on at stops the closer you get to the city. Never on time. No communication if delayed

Mean workers and table situation

The man who sold me my ticket in the waterside station was unnecessarily mean and over charged me for my return ticket to Belfast. As a CHILD I should not be interrogated and forced to buy an adult ticket. Once on the train, as a group of 7, we would preferably like to get two tables beside each-other, but some people need one big table for themselves, which we think is very unfair. 1 person taking up a 4 seat table seems very greedy, as obviously no one wants to sit beside a random unless you have to. Could be a better use of policy instead of not letting people sit on the floor in the waiting area.

Bus is repeatedly late or doesn’t show…

Bus is repeatedly late or doesn’t show up - rely on it on some days to get in to work. Have to leave the house two hours earlier and always end up getting the last possible bus because it’s only one that shows up. I’m a patient person but also called multiple times to the contact centre and get fed the typical fake empathy - ‘I understand’ and finger pointing to depots who haven’t let them know so every point of contact / service is pretty useless. Probably the worst public transit I’ve ever experienced in a city… get it together and have some courtesy to at least give people updates.

Nearly perfect experience, lovely staff, and super convenient for our needs

I was so surprised to see so many negative reviews here. We were visiting Northern Ireland from the US this holiday season. We had a brilliant experience with Translink trains. We used to app to book all our tickets and then printed copies via the machines at the stations. We found the trains nice and the employees even nicer. We used the ferry port at Larne, the Whitehead station, and Grand Central in Belfast. All of them were well organized and on time. Had a nice chat with the gentleman at Whitehead and the woman who checked tickets between there and Belfast was an absolute joy! Always nice to be welcomed and to have a laugh. We found Grand Central to be very nice and using the trains for our visit allowed us to leave our car in Scotland and save time, parking fees, and driving headaches in Belfast as well. Highly recommend and will use again when we visit Ireland in the future.

Completely unreliable!

The least reliable service in the world! If I could give this minus stars I would! Stood in the freezing cold for scheduled buses and nothing came! Horrendous!

Rip off merchants

Our first attempt at using the new ticket machine at the train station you cannot buy a return ticket but instead they call it an off peak one day which we did not know so we paid £24 for a one way from Cullybackey to Belfast for 2 people and when we enquired at the grand central about changing them to a return ticket they said they could not do anything because they were bought in Cullybackey and then worse than that when we went to get the 21.10 home it was another £31 so two return tickets to Belfast cost us £55 what a disgrace shame on you translnk

Stood at Dublin Road for 45 minutes…

Stood at Dublin Road for 45 minutes that other day. 4 buses were scheduled and 0 showed up. 1 bus read "journey cancelled" for an unknown reason (surprise, surprise).
This is just one of the many awful experiences I've had with public transport in this city and with this business.
Get the finger out, Translink. Do better.
