I have really enjoyed my level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course through UK Open College. I have found all staff to be incredibly helpful, from initial enquiries to Bill, to my tutor Kaye and everyone else in-between. The course was packed full of interesting and informative content, and I really enjoyed managing it all in my own time, which has been especially helpful as a mother of 2 young children, as well as working my day to day job. I will be back to complete more courses with UK Open College at some point in the future. Thank you so much!

My tutor Jill Matthews was absolutely brilliant and kind,she was very knowledgeable in her field and without her I wouldn't able to have accomplished my qualifications. Thank you to UK open college for providing this opportunity.

I have recently completed the level 3 early years educator course. laser learning provided good learning video clips e.g. best practice examples and information.
Kaye my tutor was supportive and answered emails / marked work within the specified time frame. I also boked a 1-1 online chat which was very helpful. i needed guidance on best ways to complete the practical assignments and cover more than 1 in each practical. Kaye as able to help with this and she also gave tips on how best to organise work too.
it took me a couple of attempts to get used to uploading the work and ticking the correct boxes but that is only to be expected when using a new system. again Kaye was able to sort out any queries I had.

My assessor (Zoe) was really helpful and provided great feedback to all of my assignments which really helped me to improve. Really happy with her support to get me through my course.

The course content (HLTA - Level 4 certificate) is extremely interesting, challenging and beneficial to role as an HLTA. My assessor, Zoe was most supportive and encouraging, assignments were marked quickly with supportive feedback and she was always on hand to help when I sent an email. I would highly recommend UK Open College to anyone looking to further their studies.

The tutor was amazing. Helpful, knowledgeable and replied quickly. It took a little while to get used to how the online system worked, but that's probably me! However the whole experience was soured by the admin team. I just felt that they took too long to answer my emails and it just didn't feel professional.

Since starting with a new tutor my experience of online learning completely changed Jill was so helpful, responsive to any questions I had nothing was ever to much to ask and really good at getting my work graded and feedback given.

The feedback jill give me helped me so much and inspired me to keep pushing my self to my end goal. I have now finally Reached this and this is all thanks to Jill’s great support I couldn’t be any more grateful.

Also a mention to Kaye who again was Helpful and supportive when coming out to observe me and uploaded my observation within a good timely manner

good experience but the online system was a bit awkwardly to use asi couldn't get it working on my tablet.

I have recently completed my level 4 HLTA course with uk open college. I found it very rewarding with the help of my amazing tutor Jill, she was very supportive and quick to mark work, also reply to emails.

The course materials are easy to use and are full of useful information to help with each unit.

This is the 3rd course i have completed with uk open college and would 100% do more.

Friendly attentive tutor in Zoe, who got back to me quickly and gave constructive kind feedback. If you start this course it’s important to know, if in doubt ask, there are no stupid questions.
I did find it difficult to start with and the work load overwhelming but as my confidence grew I was able to achieve a 100% portfolio.
If you need more time to complete the course there is an option to extend your time for a small fee, I did.
Overall I have achieved a credited qualification in my own time whilst working full time, I have learnt new things, refreshed past learning and gained the confidence in myself to achieve my goals.
I have received a job offer as a result.

I have just completed a Teaching Assistant Level 3 Certificate, and it was straightforward to follow. After using the Laser platform for a while, it became much easier to navigate. However, I didn’t hear anything from my tutor after my induction, and I was also away for a couple of weeks. When I returned, I spent about a week working on what I thought was the planned work, and then submitted it. I was told by my tutor that my work was in the incorrect format and had been deleted. This was frustrating, as I had spent a week on work that was not usable. A couple of days later, my work plans came through. By this point, about 3-4 weeks had passed since my induction, and I realised there had been a delay between my induction and receiving my work plan (which you can’t start the course without).
There was also a delay of about a week or so in getting work marked and receiving feedback. On average, it took about 10 days for my work to be marked, and some messages or questions I sent to my tutor took a while to get a response. At times, I had to follow up with another email. However, I did always get a response.
My mentor at the time, while reviewing my work, thought it was really difficult to pass some of the tasks and felt the tutor was being too harsh as a marker. This feedback was also echoed by other teachers who were helping me throughout the course, but I do think its good to be challenged and should be too easy.
I also thought some of the questions on the theory side were a bit wishy-washy and not obvious what it was asking, or some questions repeated themselves on other theory modules.
Towards the end of the course, I was allocated a different tutor named Kaye. She was amazing, and there was a noticeable improvement in the timescale for getting work marked and responses to my questions.
Overall, it was a great course to complete and I learned a lot from it. I’m just waiting now for my certificate.

Simple to understand and easy to work from home.
The communication was good and helpful and I am very happy with my experience with UK open college.

The laser platform was really easy to use, found it really convenient to be able to access all my lessons and reading materials in my own time 24/7. My tutor Jill was really helpful, and very supportive through out. Really glad I bit the bullet and took the course, now have my qualification and I couldn’t be happier! Thank you UK open college

I have just completed a level 3 early years educator course and it has been a great experience. My tutor/assessor Jill Matthews has been incredibly supportive throughout, taking the time to leave feedback for each question submitted and ensure I had support where needed. She always got back to me very quickly and the communication was excellent. It took me longer than I had initially hoped, finishing in two years rather than 18 months, as life gets in the way, but it is such a sense of achievement and I would recommend this route to anyone wanting to further their career and gain qualifications around their job and family life. I can’t thank Jill, and the UK Open College enough - Strongly recommend.

my experience with UK Open College has been fantastic from my pre sign up questions which actually I got a curtsey call to make sure my questions were answered and to see if I had any more, to my questions during my course. I wouldn't have gotten through it if it weren't for my tutor Jill Matthews. she was very prompt in answering my questions, calming my nerves and marking my work with some great feed back. I am currently on maternity leave and have decided that rather then go back to work I would become a childminder as my work history is in child care anyways, I needed to do a Ofsted recognised course and I couldn't recommended the course with uk open college more.

Uk Open College made studying so much easier for me, I could complete the course in my own time and everything was marked and feedback returned to me within a few days at the most. My assessor was really helpful and always available to answer any questions I had. I would definitely recommend them.

I’ve just finished an Early Years Educator course on Open College and it was great. There was plenty of information and reading available to assist. The work was marked and returned quickly with helpful feedback. I had to extend my end date and it was easy to do. My tutor Jill was so supportive and helpful and made me feel like I was doing well the whole way. The only negative is that I would have liked to be able to upload more than 3 pieces of work at a time. Aside from this I would recommend.

There are really helpful materials to use and the support from the tutor is fantastic. I felt supported throughout the duration of my course and any questions I had were answered quickly.
