1 star is 1 too many! I used them for cell phone service and it was fine. I had internet service with another company and had problems with them so I went to US Cellular since I did not have troubles with them and my cell service. Boy was that a mistake. I went to the store and the girl told me it was $39.99 a month because of the promotion. Great! I signed the papers and she sent me home with equipment to set up myself (not happy about that but, okay). I began my service on 12/30/22. My first bill came and it was fine. Then as time went on every bill was higher and higher. I'm talking double and triple the amount! Then my internet started buffering towards the end of the month. I called and they told me I used up all my gigabytes (or whatever it is). I wasn't using my internet anymore than at the beginning...but okay. I went to the store and the associate could not figure out the problem. After a half hour with him, he got the manager over and she said that I could not get any more data in my area. Her solution was to turn off my phone when I wasn't using it!! Huh?? And she said I needed to call the 800 #. I did and they told me I can't get any more data, so I said I will have to go to another company. When I went to cancel they told me I owed $350! For what?? Equipment charge was $12.50 a month for 36 months. I had no idea what they were talking about. NEVER did the girl tell me I would be paying $450 for equipment that I had to install. I even asked her if it was just the payments of $39.99 a month...YES, M'AM...she said. I would never have gotten it if I was told about a $450 fee of any kind. When talking to a supervisor later, telling her how they are scamming people, one of her responses was, every company does this. I had 15 days from purchase to return the equipment but the charges did not start on my bill until 22 days after I had it! Now I have to pay the $350 because I did sign the sneaky contract but I want everyone to know how awful they are.

DO NOT GET US CELLULAR

DO NOT GET US CELLULAR. You will have no service in the middle of town or a city but have great service on a ferry in the middle of the ocean. Pisses me off more than if it just didn’t work period. Super inconsistent, expensive af, and ZERO customer support

internet service constantly goes off, don't purchase internet service with US Cellular. Going off daily, very annoying. going to start asking for credit every time I call them. overprice phones, first I was getting a free then the salesman tells me a cheaper monthly charge if I purchased phone

The absolute worst cell service ever…

The absolute worst cell service ever I've been with these guys for 2 years and every bill is different every time I call them they say they're giving me discounts and fixing it and then when the bill comes out it's at least $80 more than before I called them they make you all these promises and tell you they're going to give you the best rate and they're charging me over $200 a month for two lines they've double charged me 2 months in a row when I call up they basically laugh at me and say oh it'll come off the next month's bill we can't refund you and then next month Bill comes and they charge me and I have to pay that plus the previous month that I double paid they're nothing but scammers

Used to love this company

Used to love this company. I used to try and talk people into getting plans with this company. But this year the company seems to be going to shit in a handbasket and i'm not sure why. I upgraded my package a few months ago. Ever since then the nightmares have begun. Every 3 weeks my phone service goes out claiming.I owe them more money even though they just received payment anywhere from a day to several days prior. Then I get to spend several hours on the phone trying to get it fixed. They look into my record, they see my Bill's paid. But yet my service is suspended for unknown reasons.Somehow they magically make the signal reconnect. Now how they do not know that it's been paid prior to somebody looking at it.I don't understand they have no problem taking it out of my account every month on auto pay. So if you get the upgrade package,or just any plan expect that every few weeks you're gonna be without service for several hours ( No calls in no calls out , except to pay a bill that you already paid)and you're gonna waste a few hours calling them to get rehook back up for nothing over and over.It seems to be every three weeks almost on schedule. Save yourself don't go through the headache. Find somebody that's stable in their company.Cause obviously this once having issues.

BE AWARE, STAT AWAY Wish I read Reviews FIRST!

I didn't want to give a STAR but I had to, To write the REVIEW. First off I was missed lead by a in store Rep, Second they wouldn't even give me my port key to port my number over (It's like they are holding your number HOSTAGE to pay for a faulty bill and it's your number). This is the WORST PHONE COMPANY I HAVE EVER DELT WITH, they LIE to you they say one thing about your bill when you first sign up and when you get your FURST BILL it's OUTRAGEOUS, I've never never paid $170 for one MONTH OF SERVICE 🤬. So I'm like do I pay my bill (I've had my number for 15yesrs) or do I get another number with another Cell phone Carrier.

OUTRAGIOUS BUSNIESS PRACTICESS>

OUTRAGIOUS! Dispicable company. Every other month it seems for years the bill changes and always in the favor of US cellular. Each time we have to call US Cellualr to get the bill corrected, through their crappy customer support. After years of this CRAP, and dropped calls and spotty service and our auto pay constantly being disconnected and charged we decided to pay off the wifes phone $472.00 and switch to Mint Mobile. 3 weeks after we pay off the phone we get ready to do the switch but we can't because her phone is locked. The phone should have been unlocked within 48 hours of being paid off. We call US celluar to unlock the phone that should have been unlocked 3 weeks ago and they want a $27.77 to unlock the phone AND, get this, they want an additional fee to process it. WHAT??? Thieves, scumbags, crooks! Now, my wife has no phone service at all because we switched to Mint Mobile but Mint Mobile can't connect because my wifes phone is locked/held hostage by US Cellullar. So her phone is in limbo. US Cellular says it won't be unlocked for about 3 days. THREE DAYS before she can get service from Mint Mobile or any service for that matter! So now my wife has no phone for 3 days. Thank GOD we have left this good for nothing thieving company. This phone company is the worst. The bright side, is they are losing their customer base fast. Us Cellular stores are practiaclly giving away service and phones to people to get them to sign up. If your looking for phone service please save your self and your family and choose another carrier. If you choose US Cellular just remember, you were warned.

I just canceled my internet service…

I just canceled my internet service because the last few month the internet service has been awful. I called numerous times with dates, times, problems to support my issue. The past few days only got worse. From the time I accessed their internet approximately 4:30p til 8:15p 7 times it buffered for at least 5 to 8 mins., constantly losing connection. I finally got tired of all the buffering and dropped their awful service. To put it bluntly, their internet is worse than horrible. It is not a good deal

Internet Not Good

Cell service is great, Internet Not Good. The first 2 week, which is the free trial, was great, no problems at all. Once I started paying for it, the service kept dropping. The problem is if one cell tower is over loaded the signal will move to another tower and the customer will have to reset the internet box. Very inconvenient. I had to do this 3x today. Very unhappy with service, but now I'm under a cancelation fee.

Family Plan Holds You Hostage!

Do not go to them for a family plan of any kind. Period.

My family has been with them for over 12+ years. The account currently is held under my aunt who is now half a state away. 3 of us want off the plan and no longer want to be with uscellular, but are unable to leave because, my aunt, who is the account holder would have to come here and "SIGN US OFF" the contract. (To mention she doesn't have a uscellular store or it's equivalent down where she is) wtf?

I currently gave up and paid for an iphone 15 plus outright from Amazon and got mint mobile so I could get away from them. I am still forced to pay on a phone that I don't use and data I don't use all because uscellular holds you hostage!!!!!

You can suspend a line, but guess what? Long Term Suspend (up to 150 days with a $10 monthly charge)???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are a scam go soemwhere else

I live somewhat rurally so internet options are limited. I went with the outdoor receiver plan. First of all the plan sucked for the price. Only one person could be on the internet at a time or the internet would slow down so much it was unusable. And i was not notified anywhere that you have to buy the router. I am trying to cancel because I swapped to starlink and i have to pay $400 in order to cancel. Every other internet service you just have to return the routers. Customer service sucks, and i feel lied to and scammed. Will never use US Cellular ever again

Terrible customer service/Rip off

Terrible customer service! I have been a US Cellular loyal customer for years. I switched because of better less expensive service. US Cell is making me pay for a whole month service when they turned mine off the day I switched (8th day of the month). Rip off. Paying for service I did not have. Never a refund for dropped calls or no service which was very often! Never going back and don’t recommend to anyone else!

Hi my name is Daniel Knopp I live in around the area not too far off from us cellular of Marion nc and I think it is great and at the price is right. The store has a wait line for them all the time at my time period to pay bills but it is worth every single dime and penny that it requires to ensure the liability of a phone plan with u.s. cellular. I enjoy my service with them and the people are friendly to me when I pay u.s. cellular in the store at u.s. cellular of McDowell county💸 💸 💸 💸. When I use my phone I don't have to worry about statistics so that way when I use my phone luckily I just got a new one and updated my plan which is good I got good ratings with the store and I encourage others like myself to use it and going in to pay them is better because they are good at heart people inside I enjoy it every time and hate it when I have to sit in my vehicle/car due to I am handicapped/disabled but the service is good I've only had one or two dings where I couldn't get service but it was revised and took note of and resolved that same minute the place is clean and respectful at u.s. cellular of Marion North Carolina I do not mind going in side they seem to have good air in the place

Promotional Upgrade - Fraud-like Offer Eligibility

I recently attempted to upgrade my device through US Cellular's online portal. During the upgrade process, I was presented with promotional offers advertising a $0 cost for the Samsung Galaxy S25+ when trading in a device with a value of $50–$100 or more (was not presented immediately, had to find this notation). My current device, an older phone (~5+ years), was marked as upgrade-eligible and shown alongside these offers, with no indication that it would not qualify.

Only after completing the purchase — through a separate trade-in portal and or customer service call — that my device trade-in was valued at just $5, making it ineligible for the promotion.

This information was not disclosed prior to checkout, despite being available in their system.

I believe this constitutes a deceptive and potentially intentional practice that misleads consumers into agreeing to a 36-month financing plan under the false impression that they are receiving a promotional discount. The misleading nature of this process removes the ability to make an informed purchasing decision.

Additionally, the shipment was initiated within 12 hours, overnight, leaving virtually no window to cancel the order after discovering the truth the following morning.

This practice not only misrepresents promotional eligibility but may also violate fair marketing and consumer protection standards. I hope the FCC/BBB will help ensure transparency and accountability in how upgrade offers and trade-in values are presented to customers.

No one listens or tries to resolve…

No one listens or tries to resolve issues. If you ask for a supervisor, they argue and don't want to transfer you. When you insist, they hang up on you. I spent over 2 hours trying to get a supervisor on the phone without being hung up on. Then the supervisor, instead of helping me fix the issue, put me on mute. I had to conference call customer support and after asking for a supervisor, she got on the phone and knew it was me. THIS is why I'm transferring to Verizon. Not to mention they have unlimited data and Hotspot for their plans. Also, when they hang up, they shut off your service so you have to restart your phone to join the network again. A rep at a store told me they are known for doing this lately.

Billing and customer service issues

Billing and customer service issues. They advertised $39.99 internet after promo credit and auto pay credit and $29.99 phone plan after the autopay credit.

My first phone bill did not have the autopay credit, and I got a past due notice, which confused me because I set autopay up on their website, so I called customer service. It seems there was/is an issue for credit card payments if the customer sets them up on their website, and I was told a US Cellular rep needs to set credit card payments up. This is because their system is not accepting the credit card number you enter and enters some random number. After getting help from the rep to get my credit card info right, and the payment went through successfully, I asked about the autopay credit I expected. I was informed that they do not give the autopay credit if they charge a credit card. To get autopay credit, it has to be on a debit card or bank account credit. No one ever told me this, and I have gotten autopay credits from other carriers by using my credit card for the autopay payment. The rep said they would give me a courtesy credit for the autopay, which as of today I still have not received. Also, it seems that any autopay set up during a billing cycle will not take effect until the following billing cycle, which sucks when you think your bill is paid through autopay.

My first internet bill had two months of internet being billed and I called customer service arguing that there should be 2 months of the promo credits on the bill. After talking with customer service, they informed me the first bill will not have the promo credit, and I will get this upon cancellation of internet. I was able to get one of the two missing promo credits after escalating this to a supervisor. We will have to see if I get the other promo credit when I terminate service.

Their bills are also confusing and not easy to understand. I switched to US Cellular because after talking with the staff in the local store, with taxes and fees, I would be paying about the same as my previous carrier and getting a three year price lock. With taxes, fees and carrier charges, I am now paying approximately $18 more monthly.

Totally would give you 0 I have no signal ever it’s the crappy service I’ve ever had on top of that you guys have charged me $3500.00 two times now without authorization so with that being said you get no rating from me and you’re lucky I don’t report you to the Better Business Bureau

I'd give their internet service 0 stars but system doesn't allow. I have their internet service and my feelings are quite unsatisfactory. You buy so much data per month then system throttles yr service which I understand. It's advertised as unlimited service. My connection has ceased its 26 Feb. My data doesn't reset until 2 Mar. It not only throttles, my service has stopped. Maybe I need to look the word unlimited up in the dictionary. I've had many problems during my tenure with this company. Their is an upgraded modem but where I live it's not available. I'm stuck with horrible service for another year and a half. Wow! I'm warning people unless you want my circumstances don't do it. What a nightmare. If you read other reviews which I don't think us cellular does, other reviews broadcast a clear message.
