I had an incredibly frustrating…

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with US Cellular at the Norman, Oklahoma store and would not recommend them to anyone. My wife and I have been loyal customers for 10 years, but after this experience, we’re seriously considering switching providers.

We went to the store to trade in our phones and upgrade, as my wife was eligible for a solid promo. The associate told me that if I paid off the small remainder of my current phone's payment plan, I would also be eligible for the same promo. Sounds great, right? Well, turns out that was completely false.

On my next bill, I saw that we did not have the same promo. After calling the store manager and US Cellular customer service, I was told that because I paid off my phone early, I was not actually eligible for the promo—something the associate conveniently forgot to mention. And to make matters worse, they told me I could not trade my new phone back in for my old one. So basically, I paid extra money just to get a worse deal.

If that wasn’t enough, the associate also told us about a promo for an Apple Watch. I specifically asked for a 12-month payment plan, and they confirmed it. Surprise! Turns out the promo only applied to a 24-month plan. And just like before, when I called to get it fixed, the manager and customer service both said there was nothing they could do.

To top it all off, when I called to get this resolved, I was told that the associate who gave me all this misinformation had already been fired. That really makes me wonder—how many other people had the same experience we did? How many other customers were misled and overcharged because of bad information?

After 10 years of being a loyal customer, this is how we’re treated? At this point, I have zero trust in US Cellular associates. If they can’t even properly explain promotions, what are they getting paid for? This experience has convinced me to start looking for another provider. If you’re considering US Cellular, especially the Norman, Oklahoma location, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

US CELLULAR... THE WORST REVIEW I CAN EVER GIVE A COMPANY

I would really advise everyone to steer clear of this company, When I was with them over the course of several years I can say that all the service and equipment performed satisfactory without many problems. Overall, I was satisfied. The only reason I left US Cellular is because I decided to go with MINT since Consumer Reports rated it tops and it was considerably cheaper across the board. Now that you have the background here's what happened. The US Cellular phone I brought over from them and used it on the MINT network about a year now. A few weeks ago, my phone started slowing down. It was taking way too long to load stuff so I called US Cellular and they advised me a quick fix would be to do a reset of the phone. I followed their advice but as soon as I did and turned the phone back on, it produced a US Cellular screen lock that will not permit me to go into the settings nor have use of the phone. I visited the local US Cellular Store here in town. The clerk looked at in and told me he didn't know how to troubleshoot it and that I would need to come back another time. After this I have been on the phone attempting to get this matter resolved to no avail. Finally, customer service told me to drop it off at the store that they needed some numbers off of it. On Tuesday the 21st I stopped in the local store to let them know what was going on and to let them know that I will be dropping the phone off the next day. The clerk's response behind the counter was'' No you’re not". I told him yes, I am. He then told me if I bring the phone in he is going to throw it in the garbage and that I will never see it again. I told him if he did that, I will be walking out with a new phone and that I am bring the phone in the next day. He then told me that if I brought the phone in the next day he would call the police. I got in my car and was on the phone with customer service telling them about what I was experiencing when 2 police cars pulled up. I also observed the clerk giving me a obscene hand sign when I was waiting in my car The police told me if I bring the phone in that the clerk will have you arrested and issued a trespass warning to me. I finally got ahold of the district supervisor but she slammed me for telling the clerk that if he threw my phone in the garbage I would walk out with a new one. She kept cutting me short, said I deserved the treatment I got and refused to take a complaint from me. US Cellular will not fix the problem even though they are obligated to do so under the User Agreement I have never been treated so poorly by a company in all my life. I was always a believer that never judge a company by one of its employees BUT when you reach out and you receive the same poor treatment across the board when they should have been very eager to fix it and make it right, it says something about this company. THEY DON'T CARE.

Too much for too little

Very poor customer service and they don't reciprocate loyalty. After 10 years with them, my old legacy flip phone ($0.25/txt) finally broke. They tried to flat out gouge me to get another flipper.
Instead I went to a smart phone with Consumer Cellular - now have 2 lines with unlimited text and plenty of data for much lower charge than what I was paying for 1 line from USC... and always get great customer service from them. Four years later, have no regrets - wish I'd switched sooner!

US Cellular Internet SUCKS

US Cellular Internet SUCKS! When I signed up for this POS, I was told "it's the next big thing, right up there w/ Starlink" what a lie! The rep in the store said it would run around 80-90 mbps w/ no data limits - another lie! So I ordered Starlink a week ago, a friend installed it (for a fee), then I called US Cell to disconnect - they are billing me about $300 to disconnect - I told them of my store experience and they just didn't care. I also let them know I'll be filing complaints w/ Consumer Protection & the FCC. Consumers have to start fighting back against these horrible internet providers. I've had US Cell service for many years w/ not much issue - but I will disconnect that too after I get this internet deal over with. US Cellular use to care and provide stellar customer service - not anymore. Buyer Beware - Do not sign up for their internet service - karma will catch up to them eventually

Bad coverage, unknowledgeable customer service, in-store staff are no better.

I don't usually do this, but I'm going express my frustration about being a customer with UScellular. I highly don't recommend doing business with this company.

In July 2023 I bought a Prepaid Samsung A54 5G for MSRP of over $400. I went prepaid because I wanted the flexibility of no contract. I found the coverage area to not be reliable. I was missing calls and getting texts hours late. I returned to the Waldoboro location in September 2023. I told them I was not getting reliable coverage and I wanted to switch carriers. At this point I asked if I could get the phone unlocked. I was told by a service person in store that after 180 days the phone will unlock. I was clear that I was planning to cancel my service after talking to them that day.

I then bought another phone from Straight Talk and cancelled my service with US Cellular. I waited over the 180 days and called US Cellular support. They told me that the phone is unlocked and ready. I sat the phone aside for some time, and some months later contacted their support chat in mid-late 2024. I again was told the phone was unlocked.

Flash forward to today, I have the phone on eBay and I'm trying to sell it as "Unlocked". Out of curiosity, I booted the US Cellular phone and went through the phones initial factory setup screens. Immediately the phone tells me it's NETWORK LOCKED with US CELLULAR!! So I call the phone number they provided and talked to a customer service person again. NOW I'm told that you have to have 180 days of ACTIVE service before they will unlock the phone.

I'm very frustrated that I was told by both US Cellular's support team AND a local store wrong information. This wrong information caused me to switch carriers earlier than I should have. Now I have a phone that I can't sell because nobody wants a not unlocked phone. I'm out easily $400 dollars. I'm told I need to sign up for another four months of service just to unlock the phone. So basically a minimum of $200. So NOW I'd be out $600 to unlock the phone.

It's not a surprise to me that slowly but surely US cellular locations are closing. They are no longer a company you can rely or trust for coverage or support.

They are the biggest scammers period.

They are the biggest scammers when it comes to billing. They tell you it’s $59.99/ month for internet but then your bill is $142/month it’s false advertising and they need to be stopped or shut down. I had 3 phones on there plan an it cost me around 400$/month!
Us Cellular owes me a lot of money that I’m sure I’ll never see because they think they’re above the law.
This is unacceptable! One day they’ll get sued for their scamming!!

Sabraton store in Morgantown West…

Sabraton store in Morgantown West Virginia. ABSOLUTELY TRASH, Tell you your bill is gonna be between 70-80$ a month. AND IT IS NEVER UNDER 100$. False advertising or maybe it was the fact I was the dudes first account he ever set up. Took the manager over a week to call me back to let me know yea they lied and I’m screwed. TRASH CAN COMPANY THAT LIES AND YOUR BILL IS NEVER WHAT THEY SAY. Left AT&T where it was 80$ a month for two phones. GO ANYWHERE EPSE WORST PHONE PLACE ON PLANET EARTH

US Cellular should let them train other people.

I live in Morgantown West Virginia. I went to US Cellular in Granville town center. My experience was wonderful compared to the past. I actually had someone helping me. All three men were very helpful. Spencer Seth and Zachary were very helpful as the first time in many many years I felt really appreciate it as a customer. it will be 23 years. I have been with US Cellular the last time I was treated so well I signed up for US Cellular. You have great employees in those three. Thank you to Spencer Seth and Zachary. I think you should be training people to show them how to treat people and make them feel wanted and welcomed.

FYI customer service

FYI. I just got started with US Cellular in which I purchased everything in Norfolk, NE. However, the reps there were absolutely no help in helping me get my internet system hooked up even after I had called the service line who was absolutely no help to me. I called the US cellular store in Hartington NE and they answered phone promptly and had me come in with my laptop and devices and got me hooked up and going . From now on I'll go there for my service issues.

Terrible internet service

We have “supposed” unlimited internet service but it’s very slow and when 600 gb have been used then the speed is so slow there is essentially no service. Phones have 1 to 2 bars.

Bottom of the barrel service …

I’m only with US Cellular right now because they are the only carrier in my area. I went from paying $25 a month for unlimited coverage to paying over $400 a month for 2 phones! I pay almost $100 a month for unlimited data yet 50% of the time I have to keep resetting my phone because I have zero internet or data. They charge outrageous prices for the worst service ever! Took me over a year to get some sort of credit for the iPhone I traded in. If another company moves into my area and charge way less then it’s adios and good riddance to US Cellular 😡

US Cellular is fast and reliable…

US Cellular is fast and reliable internet for me in the country. I've tried many others in my area and US Cellular came through for me. I have gotten up to over 400 mbp and uploads are better than any other services I've tried, so US Cellular has a very happy customer. Thank you, Cindy

US CELLULAR HOME INTERNET NOT WORTH IT!

I purchased home internet a year ago after having decent cell phone service with US Cellular for years. The service has been terrible - lots of outages and really slow speeds at times. The last two weeks were really bad so I called for support. I usually avoid calling because their customer service is horrendous. This time was no different. I was on the phone for over an hour and transferred to five different agents. I was told there is an outage that has been affecting our area for a while but they have no estimate on when it will be fixed. I was told by a second agent that I also do not have "unlimited data" as the store agent had originally told me - that they downgrade the speed after so many GB. No resolution even offered. I asked to speak with a manager and was told they are gone for the day. This is TERRIBLE service US Cellular. DO BETTER.

Only good in the upper midwest

I was with them from 2011 to 2019 and as long as I was in the upper midwest everything was fine. Sometime around 2018 they were purchased by a different parent company and things started to go downhill. In 2019 I was going to move to Kansas and as soon as I got southwest beyond St. Louis everything went dead and I was "roaming" and most of the time could not get service of any kind during the rest of that trip. It might be better today but do your homework first. If you travel get something better with better coverage.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service, have been with them for over 25 years and now looking to move to something different. Word of advice US Cellular, when an authorized user calls for some simple task and requests to speak with a manager let them speak to the manager, don’t tell them you cannot transfer because they aren’t the account owner that is BS

I spent $1800 on a new phone with us…

I spent $1800 on a new phone with us cellular and bought a case which did not stick to the phone the way it was supposed to and is suseptible to breaking. I advocated the phone in August about a month ago. I went to the other store to pick up the case and they wanted me to pay again for a cover. I have been with them for over wo years and am extremely irritated. That's me being nice.

Worst next to TMOBILE for cellular…

Worst next to TMOBILE for cellular service coverage. I never seem to have internet access even with my WiFi that I have through them for $50 a month. I’m paying right at $90 per phone for 5g coverage. Nobody at US Cellular seems to care!😡 Going on 3 years ugh

Canceling service

Canceling service - Service under Janessa Mills - moving to a different carrier. I have been a loyal customer for 3 years. I moved my service because I live in a rural area where the service is horrible with US Cellular. I canceled 3 days into the billing cycle (they bill in advance). I received a FULL bill for the following month. Logged in to "chat" about this with customer service, couldn't use the chat feature because you identify yourself using your 10-digit phone number WHICH NO LONGER IS ON THEIR SERVICE. I have ZERO lines of service, yet they say their "NEW POLICY" is that if the bill is generated you owe the entire billing cycle. So - essentially, I pay for about 26 days of a billing cycle that we do not even have any active lines of service. FRAUD, SUB-PAR CUSTOMER SERVICE, and just downright wrong!!!!!

Marc Westgate Girard doesn't value customers privacy enough to properly train employees on US Cellular's privacy policy. An unauthorized person we were providing a company phone was allowed to upgrade and start a new contract. What a mess to deal with. Marc won't even return calls regarding the matter
