AVOID! I will never buy from them again! I ordered a hardcover book listed as very good condition. What I got was a book that can only be considered fair to poor condition. The binding was rocked, the dust jacket was torn and repaired with glue that stuck it to the hardcover and UPSIDE DOWN! The pages are yellowed beyond what is acceptable. They have not communicated with me about the dispute. I’m writing nothing new; others have had a similar experience. I just wish I had read their reviews before ordering. AVOID!

Ordered a book through biblio and checked reviews when the confirmation email said it was being sent by britbooks… was understandably nervous after seeing the bad reviews. However I was pleasantly surprised! The book arrived quicker than I expected and condition was great - as good as new. Excellent bargain for only £6! Will definitely use again, thanks britbooks 😊

Bought two books never received.

Received the correct book but not the ordered hardback format. Sent it back and asked for a refund. After five weeks no refund, and now total silence. Their website seems to be out of order too. Do not buy from these people, they do not seem to care about their customers. I will probably have to write off the cost. Beware.

Ordered books not delivered
I ordered 4 books for my niece as a new baby present, via Amazon on 21 August 2024. On Amazon's website, it says that BritBooks delivered them on 23 September but none arrived. I would like BritBooks to meet me half-way on a re-order. Judy Scott-Goldman.

I bought a used book at a good price and it arrived in good condition and promptly without issue.

Quite astonishingly dreadful. I was sent completely the wrong book, spoke to someone who insisted that the book they sent was the one I ordered then they sent ANOTHER copy of the wrong book. How on earth are they still in business?

I recently ordered a book from this company as a very good condition book! The book arrived damaged and tapped together in the top left hand corner ! When I contacted via email asking for a 50 percent refund and sent pictures of the damaged book I was insulted by a counter offer of 20percent ! When I complained further a new copy of the book was sent out to me which resolved the first issue. Hoping this was a one off I stupidly ordered again. The next book that was sent out was not fit for purpose and in pieces ! This was a children’s pull and slide book. After sending another email of photos I was told a replacement copy would be sent out. Today the replacement copy arrived also in pieces ! I was so angry I emailed again to be told they have no more copies and would refund my money ! This is not the point. Why are these books not being checked before sent out to customers! These books are not checked before shipping and are described as “ very good condition “ please don’t waste your time or money I will never use this company again nor would I ever recommend!

I have just read Gary Conlan's review and my experience is startlingly similar. I ordered two books but only one arrived after about 5 days. I waited another five days but nothing. I found a phone number for the company and called them. The first time it went unanswered; the second time it went to voice message but there was no response. Eventually I complained to them through Abebooks and very quickly got a reply to say that a refund had been issued to my account with the promise 'it will be with you in 48 hours, if not immediately'. Five days later I am still waiting.
I am wondering why Abebooks continues with them in the face of the reviews here and on Google.

Awful seller. I bought via Amazon - they claimed to dispatch over 3mths ago. The book still hasn’t arrived and they have still not yet refunded. Amazon isn’t helping as the book hasn’t “arrived” so can’t be “refunded”. Was it ever dispatched? Faith is waning. Avoid…

I purchased a book online on the 15th of October. I didn't receive the book. I sent a message on the website with no response, I waited a few days still nothing so I sent another message still no response. I then emailed them I got a response apologizing saying that they don't know what happened and they would issue me with a refund. I checked and didn't get the refund so I messaged them to let them know and I got a reply to say that the refund was issued. I replied to whom did you issue the refund because I have not received any refund. They have not responded. The service is very bad.

I purchased 2 books that are supposed to be in Very Good condition. Both are extremely tatty, I doubt a charity shop would even want them. One has the cover very badly sellotaped together, the other is dog-eared and is a mess. This is an awful company. Wish I had read the reviews before I purchased. The books were due to arrive between 18 - 20 Oct but got here on 22nd. When you email the customer services you just receive an acknowledgement, but no reply.

I ordered a J.G.Ballard hardback novel, ex-library book. Excellent condition at a bargain price, the dustjacket protected by a plastic cover. Took exactly a week to arrive from the day I ordered. Excellent.

Bought a used book described as ‘in excellent condition’. I hate to think where it had been but it was in a disgraceful condition. I put it in a freezer bag to protect myself and fought to get a full refund. I am disgusted in both Britbooks (never again) and disappointed with Amazon.

I ordered a book from this company, via AbeBooks. It was decribed as 2very good" condition, but when it arrived it was terrible - very creased covers, heaviy creased spine, dog-eared and foxed. I complained and they sent a replacement. Both deliveries were slow. I wouldn't use them again.

I ordered a book, they advised me that it had been dispatched and would arrive on the 14 Oct, It didn't arrive. They don't answer e mails. Definitely not a company I would use again.

Bought a book from these people. Book was damaged, a number of pages badly creased. Complained. Sent photographs. They offered a 20% discount. I declined as the book was useless to me. They asked me to send back the book but refused to pay return postage as that was 'not their policy.' I have not dealt with a company as dishonest and unreliable as this ever. Do not buy books from these people.

Horrible service - i contacted britbooks first to make sure that the cd would be with the book i ordered and was ensured that it was and the book has arrived several days ago and the cd was missing and i contacted them via ebay straight away and have heard nothing from them…

I ordered a book for my daughter off Amazon, I ordered one in "very good" condition because why not try and a recycle and reuse? 🤷🏻‍♀️ However when it arrived, the spine was unglued, the pages were dirty and badly scuffed at the edges and there was scribble marks on the back page. I'm due another book to be delivered off the same company so let's see how that arrives! I don't hold out much hope.
