We had a really positive experience arranging our mortgage through John Charcol, and I want to say a big thank you to Rob and Chantelle for all their support.
From the beginning they were helpful, clear and always quick to respond to questions. Buying a property can be stressful, especially with tight timelines, but they kept everything moving and regularly updated us. Whenever something needed chased with the lender, they handled it straight away.
Their communication made a huge difference and helped us feel confident right through to completion.
We truly appreciate all the hard work and would happily recommend John Charcol, Rob and Chantelle to anyone looking for mortgage advice.

The mortgage broker was excellent, taking a lot of trouble in finding a good mortgage for me. When things got difficult she supported and guided me through it.
However, the conveyencing department of John Charcol was incompetent, first recommending a solicitor who didn't work with the recommended mortgage provider, and then another which delayed and didn't respond until a crucial repayment deadline was missed. John Charcol's conveyencing staff were useless in sorting this out, and reluctant to recompense me for my financial loss. Finally, proper recompense to me was agreed. Overall, a very bad experience.

We have been using Charcol since the company was formed and have always received excellent professional service. Jessica Childs, our nominated Partner for the past few years has always managed to find excellent deals for our non standard complex mortgage requirements.
Emma Moores, our Client Relationship Manager for the remortgage just completed provided a superstar service managing the legal services provider and lender, keeping us informed throughout the process which put our minds at rest.
We have recommended Charcol to friends and family who have also received excellent service.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Susy Dalby at John Charcol late in 2025, and she was absolutely excellent in facilitating my re-mortgage alongside Chantelle Parker. Throughout what was an incredibly stressful time for me personally, given that this was the outcome of divorce proceedings and that my parents were becoming unwell, Susy was incredibly empathetic and understanding. She and Chantelle communicated all requirements in a detailed and timely fashion, never leaving anything to chance. They understood the pressing nature of the situation as well as the complexity of it and their service levels were impeccable. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I approached them as a first time buyer and they helped me get a mortgage. Chris Allcock was great from start to finish - provided updates, took actions without being prompted and always kept me up to date. They also put me in touch with a conveyancer and with a life insurance consultant. All in all I'm very happy with their service.

I cannot recommend Christopher Cattell enough, he has been absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. We had a lengthy challenge with a previous broker who was unable to help us to secure a mortgage on a tricky property and months were going by. We contacted Christopher and with his industry knowledge and pragmatism he secured us a mortgage at a better rate, all within 5 days from our initial conversation with him to getting the mortgage offer.
