Can only use voucher on one retailer...
It was a right faff to get my Cyclescheme voucher. I would have liked to have a voucher worth £900, but because Cyclescheme limit you to only one retailer per voucher, I could only get £450 worth.

Due to how our certificates get used, you can only use one retailer as the whole certificate gets used in one go. You can of course buy all your equipment from one store, however we do appreciate it can be frustrating if you want items from different stores.

Very Easy to use and navigate
Using the Cyclescheme system was very easy to do. The one area which proved difficult was selecting the retailer. I had to type 'essex' to see the list of retailers. Typing 'Les's Cycles' resulted in nothing available.

Scheme is actively scam
Scheme is actively scam. You pay full bike value and then you need to pay own fee at the end 25% total value or extend hire contract for another 3 years paying 7% value . So at the end you pat between 125% to 107% retail price .
Ps.
Your generic reply assumes I am a tax payer. Since my annual PAYE earnings are £11,000, I am below the Personal Allowance threshold (£12,570). Therefore, I paid 0% tax, meaning I saved £0 on tax.
In my case:
I paid full £1500 from my net salary equivalent.
You are now asking for an extra £105.
Total cost = £1605 for a £1500 bike.
This scheme caused me a financial loss because nobody warned me it doesn't work for low PAYE earners.

We are afraid that is not how the scheme works. You are deducted the full amount of the request, however this is taken from GROSS salary (pre tax) - that means you do not pay the tax on the deduction.
For example (lets say you are a standard rate tax payer) if the deduction from gross was £100, you would save 28% of that money (£28) that you would usually lose to tax/NI. So your take home would only be down by £72.
By the time your employer has deducted their full amount, you would have saved 28% of the full amount - (high rate tax payer would have saved 42% of the full amount).
If you then take the option to own it later at a max of 7% (one off payment), you would of ended up saving 21% of the total amount.
It would be illegal to charge more than the bike was worth if you had walked into the shop and simply bought it outright.

Poor. Complete at utter waste of my time cancelled the voucher after told a Tredz voucher would work in Halfords by one of their team. I would try another scheme

Slick process
I found them very easy to set up and use.
The web site was very intuitive to use and navigate. The FAQ's were also very handy and answered everything i needed to know. The cost calculator was very good in providing me the information i needed to determine the affordability by breaking down the costs.
Comms on the whole were good, as I received timely emails for 'Next steps'.

Ask for exact amount on voucher
Great initiative in concept but a little tricky to figure out how much funding to request. You have to ask for the exact funds you want to spend before you spend. Which is a little chicken and egg. So basically shop for the bike first, accessories, then make sure you get a delivery fee quoted exactly to where you live. Ask if your desired bike is in stock, ask if they can hold it for you. Then process the exact amount on the voucher. Because any additional funds will be charged to you. This wasn’t explained clearly enough. I ended up with nearly £500 surplus that I would owe regardless of the fact that I didn’t use this money. With the help of the very kind bike shop (Balfe’s) I had to then cancel my voucher, charge my biked to my credit card, and reapply for the correct amount. Get money refunded to my credit card and apply the new voucher. This took up a lot of my time and was a real pain in the neck. So posting here so this doesn’t happen to you.

You are correct, is is important to make sure you are applying for a close to the desired total sum of the bike/equipment as possible - this could also include shipping fees etc, so do chat through everything with the retailer up front.
Due the nature of the scheme, the signed agreements and that your employer pays the full amount upfront, any unspent money from the certificate will still be charged. As much as we would love to, we cannot amend a certificate value due to the contractual nature of it.
We are happy to hear that our partner Balfes was kind enough to help deal with some of the issues that you were facing and that this was sorted out.

Don't use Evans Cycles
I genuinely think companies like this need far more scrutiny and proper due diligence. A quick look at the reviews on Trustpilot says it all. Evans Cycles is definitely one to avoid.
My experience reflects the same issues so many others have reported: poor customer service, lack of accountability, and a general sense that once they have your money, the support stops. It shouldn’t take endless chasing, confusion, or frustration just to get the basics sorted.
I hope more people check the feedback before buying, because the warning signs are all there.

I ordered my cyclescheme voucher in april, it then took over 2 months to arrive and by that time the bike I was planning to buy had gone out of stock. Cyclescheme would not be flexible and let me buy any other bikes as they were all over the original amount. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY.

We always do our best to make the scheme runs as quickly and smoothly as possible, however some of the process is overseen by your employer and depending on how the account is set up (could be direct application or via a benefits portal), it can sometimes take just a little longer to receive your certificate.
When you request a certificate, you agree to a specific amount of money being taken from your wages - this is then documented by the system and would turn into what you would eventually sign. Because this is a signed contract, we can't allow amendments to be made so the only way to change a value is to cancel and start again. It isn't the most spritely of processes but is necessary from a legal perspective.

Amazingly easy to set up
Amazingly easy to set up. Takes a little time to process via your own company HR etc which is perfectly normal & expected if you've ever used the scheme before.
Once you have received the Digi Certificate you have ample choice of retailers inc online. I chose to support a local shop to supply @ Edinburgh Cycle Coop Newcastle. The team were amazing from point of order to collection. They even helped with removing front wheel & loaded into my car!
I even faffed about with what accessories I wanted to use the full voucher entitlement & they were very patient & happy to help.
A really great way to get healthy and commute, plus these days being able to spread the cost with the tax benefit is a no brainer!
