I have only left ecotricity because I had come to the end of my fixed rate period and had to move to another good fixed rate.
I can honestly say that ecotricity is the best energy company I have ever dealt with and I have dealt with many in my 50 odd years of home ownership.. ranging from the good, the bad and the downright ugly!!
Ecotricity’s customer service is outstanding and I have never put the phone down after speaking to them feel angry and frustrated. Other utility companies take note- this is how it should be done.Well done ecotricity!!

Switching to an off peak rate it was very helpful to have the tariff charges explained so that I could see whether it would be worthwhile going for the EV tariff. The standing charge and the amount of energy that I use as well as the low difference in peak time charges were explained very well.

Impossible to get a response via email, definetly not good for business customers.
a few years ago they suddenly collected 38k because apparently they didn't have meter readings. Since then i was under the impression we installed smart meters, only to start receiving estimated bills again..
I have been chasing and emailing asking for a confirmation that they have the monthly readings on file but no response for 11 months now

Spoke to Emma about a meter switch, owed early exit fees.
She could not have been more helpful unpicking 2 slight more complex issues in lees time than it would take on hold to other major providers.
Regular e-mail updates following our call were so reassuring.

Love the principles of this company and wanted a green energy provider. Everything from the word go has been a nightmare
- signing up; didn't reply to email, I chased, they wouldn't honour the deal. 2 months later I went back to them and switching was a nightmare - multiple emails to prompt some action. Signing up team where not efficient at all.
- Sorting out required smart meter; convoluted
- 3/4 months with them no bill, i ring to find out there's error on system. No one has contacted me
- ambiguity about when the company took responsibility for my electricity
20+ yrs of dealing with energy providers and I have NEVER dealt with anything like this.
Good things; they're green, the customer service team are lovely.

Following a failure on my Pay as you Go meter Ecotricity has to sort out a new key and Tag number. The Ecotricity staff were excellent and helpful. Particularly a representative called Emma who spent time getting me sorted and helping me. She was calm and patient as I was running out of power. I can't thank them enough.

If I could go back and pick another company I would. Please note that ecotricity will conduct a hard search on your credit profile (only energy company who has ever done this to me) and will not let you move to another of their tariffs during a fixed period without paying an exit fee. I would understand if I was moving to another provider but to refuse extending a customers contract by moving to another deal makes no sense?!? I will move to octopus when there are 49 days left of my deal as quickly as possible and never use ecotricity again. It should be noted that other companies (like octopus) do let you move tariffs during a fixed period as long as it is with them. Don’t be fooled by a slightly lower price - “you get what you pay for”.

After billing issues due to discrepancies with closing meter reads by my previous supplier, I spoke with Emma today in Customer Support. All I can say is that I could not have wished for better service. Emma was super friendly, sympathetic and efficient. She promised to look into the matter, and within hours, she had resolved everything. We are often quick to complain, and seldom recognise and acknowledge great service. Well done Emma and Ecotricity!!!

My contract was coming to an end and I needed to decide what to do next. To my relief I was able to speak to a very nice, patient and knowledgeable lady, who could talk me through the various options and help me discover what would be best. So much better than having to do it on line, with AI or a pre recorded syste. Excellent customer care!

It is an Ofgem requirement that domestic consumers should have access to the Half-Hourly meter readings recorded by Smart Meters. However, Ecotricity refuses to provide it and gives no information on how I can obtain it.
I need this data for the past year as it enables me to perform the detailed analysis needed to optimise energy consumption.
Maybe I need to stop paying my bills while the company refuses to comply!

Ecotricity have been great so far. They offer the option to either pay for your energy as you use it, or set up a fixed direct debit. Things did go a bit wrong at one point when I moved house and tried to have them as my supplier in the new house and it all got messed up, but unlike other suppliers, they investigated properly, apologised, admitted they'd got it wrong and quickly sorted everything out. Other than that I've experienced much better customer service than with prevoius suppliers.
