Friendly service

Good Advice and great service. One of my two go to retailers for outdoor items.

REFERENCE: Go Outdoors - Peter Storm walking shoes

I purchased a Peter Storm walking shoes from Go Outdoors. At the point of purchase I paid £25.00.

After 5 months of use the shoes, which I purchased, have holes in the bottom of both heels, letting water in. They were advertised and bought as walking shoes without any restrictions as to where I could wear them. I have taken them back to the shop where I purchased them and the store manager refused a refund because I had worn these walking shoes on the pavements, going shopping and walking round town, he said "these were made for walking on softer ground". If this was the case why were these not described as only for use on soft ground? It should be made clear, to customers, before purchase, that there are limitations as to where these shoes can be worn. I pointed out that all my other "walking shoes", which I have worn, from other manufacturers, such as Skechers, Mountain Warehouse and Trespass, have all lasted over 12 month when they have been used on the same terrain. The store manager also refused to accept that the shoes could be a faulty pair during the manufacturing process, he said "any fault would have happened to a whole batch" If I had known these shoes were not to be used when walking on pavements I would not have bought them
I do not believe that 5 months is a reasonable length of time for a pair of walking shoes to last, which have been used in the correct manner, as described by the seller, for walking.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 makes it an implied term of the contract I have with Go Outdoors that goods be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory

These shoes were bought and return at the Ilkley branch

I have already rung customer services who say that I have to return the walking shoes to head office for inspection!! WHY?

Bought a pair of Merrell walking shoes and the new assistant couldn’t have been more helpful

I visited the Ilkley store before Christmas and was served by a wonderful assistant called Tia. They were just wonderful. I was wanting a couple of buffys & Tia informed me of a fabulous offer & helped me make my choices . Excellent customer service. Very friendly & professional.

Freddie was really helpful in a very busy shop yesterday. He was calm and informative but not pushy. I got some great boots thank you!

Tia went out of her way to find items from upstairs when I couldn’t go up myself - and then up again to deliver other options. All staff (Tia, Garry and Billy) were kind and helpful, and I got what I needed!

I bought a pair of Peter Storm walking boots from the Go Outdoors Ilkley store on the recommendation of The Which? Report. Scarlett, the sales assistant, was very helpful indeed.
The boots are excellent and roughly £100 cheaper than many other brands

Both members of staff were really helpful giving advice about walking poles and finding things that I needed.

Good choice of footwear for a small 'express store'

Assistant was really helpful and knew about walking boots, which is what I went to purchase

A quick but positive experience for getting two T-shirts and renewing my discount card. The assistant was very helpful and positive, and did everything very efficiently with no waiting about. I was also advised that the offer is “mix and match”, but I wanted two of the same style T-shirt.

A great experience in store thanks to the direct answers to my questions about the clothing and footwear I wanted for particular activities. I was offered alternative options without being pushed towards anything more costly than something that wasn't. The experience was relaxing and I felt I could take my time in making my selections thanks to the patience of Garry, Tia and Ronnie.

Harry , John & Garry are all great in this branch very helpful and knowledgeable too thanks lads
