Hughes Driver Training Reviews

Firm and very fare, very good instructor. Thanks 2 all the team.

I just want to say that my training with HDT has been absolutely fantastic, and Paul the instructor has been nothing short of superb.

From the very first day, his guidance has been thorough, professional, and incredibly clear. He explains things in a way that actually makes sense, and he doesn't just tell you what to do—he teaches you why it matters.

Yes, he can be tough on you when you're not doing something right. But honestly, that's exactly what you need when you're learning to drive a vehicle that can easily kill someone. He doesn't let you get away with bad habits, and I respect that massively.

What really sets Paul apart is that he genuinely cares. He's not just there to get you through a test—he's there to make sure you become a safe, professional driver. He stayed late, he pushed me when I needed it, and he believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.

I've trained with other companies before, and no one comes close to the standard Paul sets. He's not just a great instructor—he's a really kind, decent bloke underneath it all.

I feel genuinely lucky to have learned from him. If anyone is thinking about doing their HGV training, I couldn't recommend Paul and HDT highly enough.

Nick - Passed first time with only 3 minors brilliant instructor and top guy

I’ve just passed my Class C licence first time, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the whole experience.

The training at the Leeds centre was excellent, everyone was friendly and made me feel really well looked after. A massive thank you to Paul, who was an absolute top bloke and a fantastic instructor. He was patient, knowledgeable and had a great way of keeping me relaxed while building my confidence behind the wheel.

Paul gave me loads of great advice and really helped me improve throughout the training. I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better instructor to get me through it.

Passed first time, get in! 😂

If you’re looking to get your HGV/Class C licence, I’d definitely recommend Hughes Driver Training, and if you get Paul as your instructor, you’re in safe hands.

Big thanks to Paul and all the team! 👏🚛⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great training helps you understand and feel like a professional driver ready for the road Great explanation and practical ways to be secured

Excellent service and training from Day 1.
Vehicle was in good condition, location is easy to find with toilets, office and plenty of parking. Neal was my driving coach and I couldn't fault him. Nice and friendly guy, encouraging but also strict and efficient when it came to vehicle checks and driving. Examiners were all friendly and supportive.
Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to get into HGV.
Thank you Neal and Hughes!

From start to finish Ady was right behind me giving all the information and his experience to help me pass my test which I will always be so grateful for and I wish him and his family all the best,

Very professional staff. Their thorough training earned me a pass with five minor faults.

Passed my class 1 today with HDT - Leeds.

A huge shout out and thanks to everyone that was involved, Greg, Lukaz, Mark and Chris.

All very knowledgeable instructors who give you the time and confidence to get behind the wheel, understand what being in control of something larger entails and your responsibility on the road.

Passed today with 2 minor marks!

All the staff are sound and straight to the point especially Paul. Taught me all I needed to know in a small amount of time. I would definitely recommend Hughes if your trying to pass your HGV

I completed my Cat C licence with Hughes. Had a very enjoyable week. Spent my week mostly with Rob but also had coaching from the other trainers whilst I was there.

My schedule was easy to follow and communicated well. I was comfortable I knew exactly what was required to pass my exam.

Great centre, they were fast and kind. Neal bawll was my instructor, he did a great job and allowed me to pass first time.

Keith is a very good teacher. He is patient, friendly, and explains everything clearly and in a way that is easy to understand. He always takes the time to make sure you understand the topic properly. I really appreciate his teaching style and would definitely recommend him to others.

My training with hdt has been brilliant my first instructor quit but my new instructor eamonn stepped in and helped me massively to gain my first time pass he taught me everything I need to know and was just an around brilliant instructor thank you eamonn

Did my training and test in Plymouth with Steve who was unreal throughout the whole thing! He knew exactly what approach to take with me and made me feel comfortable even when I made mistakes. I passed everything first time because of him and even on my test when I had a hiccup, knowing what he taught me I got out of it with ease. 100% recommend the guys down in Plymouth, can’t fault them!

Just passed my class 1 with Hughes up in alfreton! My instructors Andy B and Colin were amazing the whole way through, both experienced, knowledgeable and know how to keep me and other people safe on the roads. There a top bunch of lads up there I couldn’t thank them enough!

I passed my class 1 and Leeds depot, the people there make it easy explain everything and make the whole experience smooth, everyone there is helpful and even though I had a different instructor for the last two days it didn’t change and thing as they’re all absolutely class.

Thank you Andy B for helping me pass my class 2 test first time. Couldn’t have done it without the fantastic training and knowledge.
