I have a leased battery from Renault and needed to return the battery due to car breakdown. I was passed from pillar to post with different Renault dealers, mobilise finance, saying very different things about who pays for battery extraction etc. Very poor quality, unthought through policy, potentially leaving the pserson with a non-functioning Renault having to pay alot of money to get rid of the car.

UPDATE – 27 August 2026
I have updated my review to 5 stars because Renault UK responded promptly and clearly explained that Renault UK and Renault Trucks UK are separate organisations and that our case needs to be handled by Renault Trucks UK.
Although our dispute with Renault Trucks UK and Thompson Commercials remains unresolved, I think it is only fair to recognise good customer service where we receive it.
Thank you to Renault UK for the clear and professional response.

Absolutely appalling. We own a fleet of 7 commercial vehicles all different makes. Renault customer service, wait time to get into a garage and availability of how many the is too use is a disgusting disgrace.
Extremely rude and unprofessional staff who take ages to respond.
Multiple problems with the vehicle, huge wait times, no courtesy vehicle.
Garages won’t let you use them depending on your VIN number - wasn’t told any of this when we purchased.
I would advise anyone to stay well clear

The business I work for recently needed a new key made for one of our vehicles. Following the instructions provided, we made an appointment at the Weston Super Mare branch to have the key created. We dropped off the original key with the receptionist, ensuring they understood who we were and why the vehicle was at the garage. Given that the van is quite large, it was necessary for us to block a couple of parking spaces, which we also informed the receptionist about.
While returning from dropping off the van, we received a phone call from the receptionist at Renault Weston Super Mare. During the call, she raised her voice and accused us of not properly booking in the vehicle and of blocking parking spaces. She claimed that the individual who dropped off the key had simply left it on the desk without any explanation. This accusation is completely untrue; the gentleman is very meticulous in his work and would not make such a mistake.
When we called back, we spoke to the same receptionist, who continued to be rude and insisted that we were at fault, despite explaining again that we had booked the vehicle in through their booking portal. After some back and forth, she finally conceded that there was an issue on their end: the booking agent had not completed the reservation.
Despite her admission, she made us feel as though she was doing us a favour by ordering the key and informed us that it would take a few days to arrive. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the poor service we had experienced. This is an example of extremely bad customer service and a lack of manners. As customers, we deserve to be treated with more respect. Renault Weston Super Mare, it's time to do better.

Dear Renault Customer Relations Team,Your response does not demonstrate any genuine appreciation for the severe inconvenience or frustration your actions have caused. These feel like nothing more than empty token words. The age of a vehicle should have absolutely no bearing on your willingness to offer a courtesy car. At the end of the day, I am a Renault owner and a customer who deserves to be treated as such.Furthermore, you have failed to uphold your statutory obligations under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The Act explicitly states that a garage must carry out work within a reasonable time and without causing significant inconvenience to the consumer. A timeframe stretching to nearly four months cannot under any circumstances be deemed "reasonable." I have indisputably been subjected to extreme inconvenience. Being refused a loan car for a repair taking a few days is unacceptable; denying one for four months is entirely indefensible. You spoke of responsibility in your correspondence. I have fully upheld my responsibility by bringing my vehicle to an authorized Renault garage to be repaired. Renault, on the other hand, has completely failed to uphold its side of the agreement. In addition to breaching consumer law, Renault has breached Bailment Law. As a bailee, a garage is strictly responsible for safeguarding a vehicle while it is in its possession and owes the owner a legal duty of care. Finding my car abandoned in a thorn bush is a blatant, shocking violation of that duty. It proves that reasonable care was not taken. When these facts are taken into consideration, it is clear that Renault has failed catastrophically on this occasion. Looking at your public feedback, it is easy to see why Renault holds a dismal customer review score of just 1.6 out of 5. It would be interesting to hear whether management genuinely believes a 1.6 rating indicates that your teams are doing their jobs properly. From a customer perspective, a score of 1.6 is extremely poor, concerning, and reflective of the exact treatment I have experienced.Given these serious legal and service failures, I expect a senior manager to review this file immediately. I require a formal response detailing how you intend to compensate me for the extreme delay, the breach of bailment care regarding the thorn bush damage, and your failure to provide alternative transport. If this is not resolved swiftly and satisfactorily, I will escalate this matter to The Motor Ombudsman and consider formal legal proceedings to recover my losses.

I expected Renault UK to step in when I was unable to resolve serious concerns with one of their dealerships. Instead, I was simply directed back to the very dealership I was already in dispute with.
That left me questioning what Renault UK’s customer service is actually there for. If the manufacturer is unwilling or unable to independently review a customer’s concerns once the relationship with a dealership has broken down, it’s difficult to see what value their customer support adds.
My experience left me with the impression that Renault UK is happy to promote and sell its vehicles, but far less willing to stand behind the customer when something goes wrong. Rather than acting as an impartial escalation point, I felt they distanced themselves from the issue and passed responsibility straight back to the dealership.
Before Renault UK responds with a generic “we’re sorry to hear this” message or advises me to contact the dealership again, I’d point out that I have already done exactly that. I exhausted Renault UK’s complaints process and gave both the dealership and Renault UK every opportunity to resolve my concerns. This review reflects the outcome of those efforts.
I have now had no option but to escalate my complaint to the Motor Ombudsman because I no longer have confidence that my concerns will be reviewed independently or resolved fairly.
Buying a new car is a significant investment. Customers should be able to rely on both the dealership and the manufacturer when things go wrong. Sadly, based on my experience, I cannot say that was the case with Renault UK.
Don’t give Renault your hard earned money.

Really struggling to get a courtesy vehicle from Renault as they say they don’t offer courtesy vehicles to lease customers. Countless phone calls and no date as to when I might get my vehicle back. This vehicle is just over a year old and needs head unit replacement.

Update
Still waiting on my case manager updating me on my case. My vehicle is still off the road and unsafe to drive due to a fault. Brand new vehicle for my business that cannot be driven due to the front wheels darting from side to side and permanent message in dash saying keep control and driver assist unavailable. Spoken to several mechanics that have advised me not drive. Wish I’d spent my money elsewhere. If anyone thinking of buying a Renault master box van for their business feel free to contact me to discuss the issues I’m having.
The vehicle is off the road due to a safety fault, yet Renault apparently won’t provide a replacement vehicle, they can’t cover me hiring a vehicle, they can’t let me use an independent garage, so I’ve spent 36k on a van that’s did 7000 miles and now unsafe to drive. 3rd day off the road and business losing money. Im happy to wait for 3rd September appointment as long as they can drop off a vehicle for me to use in the meantime.
1 Star – Appalling Aftercare and Complete Lack of Concern for Safety
I am extremely disappointed with Renault’s after-sales service.
My Renault Master has covered only around 7,000 miles and has developed what appears to be a serious steering fault. The front wheels shake while driving, and the dashboard is displaying a “Driving Assistance Unavailable” warning. Given the nature of these faults, I believe this is a potential safety issue.
I contacted the supplying dealer, only to be told it would be four weeks before they could even inspect the vehicle. I then contacted Renault Customer Services, hoping they would either direct me to another authorised repairer with earlier availability or authorise an independent garage to inspect the vehicle due to the potential safety risk.
Renault refused both requests and advised me to continue driving the van until my booking on 3 September.
This is a business vehicle that my drivers rely on every day. They are understandably refusing to drive it because they do not feel it is safe, yet Renault’s response has been to tell us to keep using it rather than offer any practical solution.
A vehicle that is only a few months old and has covered just 7,000 miles should not be developing faults like this, and customers certainly should not be left waiting weeks for a safety-related issue to be investigated.
The quality of the aftercare has been incredibly disappointing. If you’re considering buying a Renault for your business, I would strongly recommend thinking carefully. My experience has been that once the vehicle is sold, customer support is severely lacking.

Booked a service at renault bury for one of my renault vans, feb 26 Major service. Then july 26 I wanted to book another service and my cam belt change due to the miles I had covered 10,000 in the last 6 months. The major service they wanted over £400.00 And the cam belt a extra £1150.00. When I phoned and spoke to them about the price I spoke to service guy manager, he said he had not been with them long when questioned the cam belt cost he said that's the cost in a abrupt manner. I went to another renault garage who carried out the service £275 service cam belt £600.00. So I got the work done there. The garage told me the cabin pollen filter had not been changed from NEW. So that means the service is had in Feb renault bury major service my invoice charged me for a cabin pollen filter. I called back into renault bury spoke to the most arrogant service manger! who said it was changed! Then when I said I have just had it serviced at another renault garage and they said its the original filter from new! He backed down after shouting his mouth off. Then they refunded the amount of the cabin pollen filter they should have changed in Feb 26. May I remind renault bury that is my health you are messing with not changing that filter means I have covered 10,000 miles in 6 month? Stuck in traffic thinking the filter is cleaning the air coming into the van. I may be seeking legal advice on the health side of this.It got me thinking if they done a proper service in Feb absolutely disgusting behaviour from your garage. And for the arrogant service guy who just started you behaviour and attitude is disgusting.

In response to your reply Renault, customer service is well aware of this issue and has done nothing to help... Pathetic.
In response to your reply, I have contacted customer service but still no replacement part!

The service reception ring me to say that my car is ready for collection, it takes me about half an hour to get there and yet I always have to wait a further ten minutes whilst the receptionist completes the paperwork, surely this can be done before my arrival as happens in most other car brand dealerships.

First and last Renault for me
Had my first service last Christmas when I got my car back the temperature gauge was not working. I spoke to my local branch where the car was from to be told 3 months wait march.
Then after someone pulling out on me and my car in for repair yes 4 months later get my car back
So my temperature still needs fixing it’s -37 telling me black ice
I spoke to the garage again telling them the air con does not work it’s blowing hot 🥵 I am baked. To be told Oct
Just for the diagnostic then if parts need ordering it will need booking in again
Never again would I buy a Renault or recommend them

AWFUL - DO NOT USE.
Buy from someone else.
1 year old car, failed due to electrical fault with HCU.
Terrible service, ended up with my car being taken hundreds of miles away for warranty repair and Renault refused to bring it back, expected me to travel to collect the car despite never telling me i would need to. Now they are threatening me with costs for storage. Wont take my complaint about their staff. Absolute garbage company.
I am now forced to make a 10 hour round trip to collect the vehicle myself.
Will be asking my bank to reject the vehicle back to dealer and will never buy a car from Renault again.
I strongly suggest you avoid at all costs.
Updated- Renault say I booked the vehicle hundreds of miles away and once again have their facts wrong. They booked it in. Not me. They also fail to explain it was booked in hundreds of miles away because their process of recovering a vehicle collapsed at every step.
DSAR submitted yesterday.
Useless company.
Useless vehicles.
Useless service.
Avoid.

I'm 2 months into owning a Captur E-Tech 160 (Esprit Alpine trim) and had a genuinely frightening experience: driving at around 30mph, a warning appeared on the dash and the emergency braking system engaged hard and unexpectedly - no vehicle in front of me, none behind, and nothing close enough on the side sensors to justify it. No collision this time only because there happened to be no one behind me. In different traffic, this could have caused a serious rear-end collision.
What's more concerning is that this isn't an isolated case - I've since seen other Captur owners reporting the exact same kind of unexpected AEB activation. This is not a one-off glitch with my car; it looks like a pattern that Renault should be taking seriously.
When I raised this with Renault Customer Services, I was told I'd need to book a diagnostics appointment (£110-£200, dealership-dependent) and that I could be liable for the cost if no fault is found or it isn't ruled a manufacturing fault - despite the advisor confirming that an intermittent fault like this might not show up in a static test or even a road test at that particular moment. When I pointed out that "no fault found" isn't the same as "no fault happened," I was told this is simply their fixed procedure with no flexibility, even for a safety-related fault on a near-new car.
How can something this potentially dangerous, affecting multiple drivers of the same model, be treated with such a scripted, careless response? I'm not disputing that a car needs inspecting - I'm disputing being asked to gamble £110-£200 on whether a known, recurring safety fault happens to reproduce itself on the exact day of testing.
UPDATE following Renault's response:
Thank you for the reply, but with respect, this doesn't actually address the issue. I'm not struggling to find the number to book a diagnostics appointment - I already have that. The problem is that Renault would not confirm in advance that I wouldn't be charged £110-£200 for investigating what may well be a known, recurring safety fault (emergency braking engaging unexpectedly with nothing in front of or behind the vehicle), especially when your own advisor admitted the fault might not even show up during the test.
Asking a customer to gamble that fee on a safety-critical system reproducing a fault on demand isn't a resolution, it's just passing the risk back to me. If Renault UK is now able to confirm in writing that this diagnostic will be carried out free of charge given the safety concern, I'd welcome that - but simply repeating the booking line doesn't change anything.

I have a Renault Captur 74 plate. I’ve had it from new. And it’s a lovely car apart from one issue which is the reason for 1 star .
The emergency breaking system now since I’ve had the car that has activated about 6 or 7 times on full emergency mode for absolutely no reason. After the first couple of times I took it back to my Renault dealership they checked and tested it . They told me it was working correctly. Well if that is correctly then it’s extremely dangerous it can cause an accident. When it activates the wheels skid along the road and the car stops. If I wasn’t an experienced driver this could cause me to skid out. This could also course another car to go in to the back of me. It happened again this morning on the approach to a roundabout and in fact I was already breaking at the time and I had plenty of time to stop but the car obviously had other ideas.
The irony is that this has never actually activated when I could say ok yeah I understand it activating like when a car pulls out on me for example. When I change cars I won’t be getting another Renault .

I recently purchased a £25,000 Renault Rafale from Renault Bristol East, and the entire experience has been riddled with deceptive tactics and appalling aftersales care. It feels like once they have your money, the customer service vanishes entirely.
My experience has been poor for several reasons:
1. Bait and Switch Pricing: The advertised price of the vehicle was unexpectedly increased between my initial inquiry and the final purchase.
2. Concealed Damage: Upon getting the car home, I discovered a large tear in the driver's floor mat. This wasn't mentioned during the handover because it had been deliberately concealed beneath a second temporary mat by the valeting team. I have photographic evidence of this which I have sent across to them.
3. False Service Claims: During the sale, I was explicitly told that a "Service B" had just been completed and that the MyRenault app would take some time to update. Weeks later, it still hasn't updated, and the app is actively warning me that Service B is due "As soon as possible." They handed over a £25k car without actually registering the service they promised.
4. Appalling Communication & Ghosting: I have had absolutely zero follow-up since picking up the car. I have sent multiple emails to my sales executive, Nigel, providing the photographic evidence of the hidden damage and asking for the service record to be resolved. Every single email has been completely ignored. I am having to chase them continuously with no luck, and I have evidence of all these ignored emails to hand if required.
I expected much better transparency, honesty, and aftercare from a main Renault dealer. I highly advise taking your money elsewhere and avoiding this dealership.

I can see a lot of negative reviews and sorry to say here is another one. My car aircon on a newish EV wasnt working lowish mileage. I called renault to make a complaint and told it must need regasing. I explained how new and lowish mileage and not sure when it last worked. Anyway i got the run around several visits to renault chatham, several weeks messing about and lots of emails and phone calls. I then did get a car which i am grateful but cost me £60 in fuel, no aircon and more messing about. Anyway new compressor after a few delays car is back. After raising the complaint and cost and hassle involved offered £100 renault voucher. I explained again about costs, travelling to and from at own expense. Calls, emails but no budge £100 voucher. Sorry Renault you lost my vote of confidence.
Thats the point it was through customer service team tgis all came about.

A massive warning to any Fleet manager or small business owner considering a commercial vehicle finance agreement with BNP Paribas / Renault. Our brand-new commercial van has been off the road in a workshop for over 8 weeks due to a parts backorder, with zero communication or updates from Renault.
Instead of resolving the issue or unwinding the agreement, BNP Paribas Leasing Solutions issued a Deadlock Letter, hiding behind B2B exclusion clauses (Clause 6.2). They claim a 2+ month delay is a 'reasonable timeframe' for a commercial asset to be out of action, refusing to cover our sunk costs or operational damages. If the supply chain fails, these companies will point to the small print and leave your business to foot the bill. Currently escalating to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Bought a new Renault 5 as we wanted a smaller fun car to drive. Unfortunately all we have had is eight weeks of stress as the multimedia system has had constant faults with Android Auto connection; couldn't connect to internet for four weeks as My Renault app was faulty; took five weeks for them to explain how to connect via WIFI (this is only available if you sign into accounts - doesn't connect to open public connections).
Please note that the My Renault app is next to useless even when you do get it to work; there is no manual for the multi media system either in the paper version or the online version - took Renault five weeks to explain how to connect to WIFI as system is not intuitive.
Also note that Renault Customer Services is a misnomer - they are not interested in either customers or providing a service.
One star is an exaggeration of score.

It is with regret and disappointment to simply give ONE STAR as I am not able to offer anything lower in writing of my recent experience regarding Renault Mobilize leasing.
Having taken out a Renault car lease through a dealer in July 2025.
One year has passed but it has now come to my attention only today with Government check that I have been driving Renault Mobilize lease car untaxed from July 1st this year.
As a direct result of this I am currently looking at facing the risk of a fine from the DVLA and possible invalidation of my insurance policy.
Many years of vehicle leasing I have never experienced such a gross administrative error.
After speaking with Renault Leasing,it has been made clear to this customer there are rules in place that are designed to benefit the business not the customer.
Albeit I have been informed this matter has been resolved...... But unfortunately not entirely convinced with the response and lack of confirmation.
It begs the question of how many other Renaults Mobilize lease drivers are possibly in a similar position of not having a legally taxed vehicle.
