Absolutely awful company!!
They do not answer the phone, when you finally manage to get though they don’t know anything about your case, you get passed from pillar to post. They say they will put you on a urgent call back but you never get the call back! Our house is on the line and will be made homeless with two young children if this isn’t sorted out and they couldn’t care less!
If I could give a zero star review I would!
Keep clear of this horrendous company!

Would give them zero stars if I could - if you are buying/selling a property and comes across this firm as the seller's conveyancer, run for your money - it will never get completed, especially if your case falls into the hands of a conveyancer by the name of Caroline Conacher. She is constantly off, not responsive, extremely slow and unprofessional. She will not get you the correct documents and will delay your sale. I've been trying to get my purchase completed for 6 months and the end is nowhere in sight. Just steer clear to save yourself the money and stress.

A legal firm that doesn't understand the premise of the very thing they are meant to follow.

Chasing me for a water bill that I didn't owe - sent intimidating letters, asked for proof of debt - nothing back from them.

They disregard email correspondence and believe they can intimate people who retailiate into backing down.

I wish I could give a minus rating. It is such a disappointment; no professionalism, no competency, no reliability, nothing, absolute disgrace. I used them to act for remortgage of my property. The lenders solicitors asked me to remove restrictions from HMLR to proceed with my remortgage process. I have contacted SHMA to do the needful, they have agreed to do the job and after that there has been absolutely no professionalism from them. For such a small work they are literally taking months and months. I honestly doubt their competency level. There is no feedback to emails, despite of sending multiple requests they send a one liner which absolutely does not answer my queries. I paid part of their fees upfront considering they will work on my request in timely manner. They themselves don't know what they are doing, I had to spoon feed on what is needed, I even provided them the contact details of lenders solicitors to clarify what is needed. Despite that they utterly failed to do their job. Its been 4 months now and still they could NOT remove the restriction. And its NOT been delay from HMLR (despite of HMLR having backlog they did their work as per their committed date), it is SHMA's incompetency which delayed my process. I am in a stage that I can not even back-out as I have invested so much of time on them. I will never ever go back to them for any service. Please stay away from these incompetent people.

This company tries to use bullying tactics addressing letters to myself directly when I’m being represented by a solicitors they never answer the calls or emails. My solicitors have sent correspondence recorded post and yet they still completely disregarded them and continue to send me letters directly I’m sure this is illegal.

Just like most of the reviews on here, this is another one about a terrible experience with this company. They have terrible costumer service, are unresponsive and from the multiple times I have requested a call back I am still waiting to receive a call; just so I can clear my debt with them. Absolutely ridiculous and to top it off they continued to court proceedings although I have contacted them multiple times to speak about it; how is this allowed and from the amount of negative reviews I see here, how are they still able to continue their business! TERRIBLE.

Shakespeare Martineau has demonstrated a flagrant disregard for the proper administration of justice, being ignorant of the provisions of the Civil Procedure Rules and their duties to the Court, notwithstanding the Solicitors Code of Conduct.

Chasing a debt for cadent gas for damage repair. didn't know until the person they sent the debt letter to came and asked if was mine as he didn't have a clue. Sent to wrong name wrong address. legal thief's

I would like to extend my thanks to the fantastic conveyancing team @shma, who made my experience of buying my first home a pleasant one.
especially Adnan Rafique who was my assigned solicitor, he kept me updated every step of the way, he was extremely personable and his customer service was excellent.
I would be definitely recommending SHMA to everyone!

I made contact with this firm via Linkedin about the property I was selling and they came back to me almost immediately. My dealings with Tom and Harvinder at the Stratford Office have been very pleasant and professional and the staff at the Birmingham office were also friendly and helpful. Despite the difficult market conditions and some delays lower down the chain, their service has been excellent! Communication was great and on completion day there were regular calls to update me on progress and same day transfer of sale proceeds.
I would highly recommend Shakespeare Martineau if you are looking for a conveyancing package.

Another Dodgy, debt chasing company, it’s a wonder how they can get people to work for them, especially given the pandemic, you would’ve thought most people would want to work in an area which didn’t abuse
other humans. One look at the cretins on the website says a lot though.

they took a person to court without my knowledge wrong name wrong date of birth but same initials as me judgment passed and its conflicting with me , I now have to pay £255.00 to have it set aside so it does not affect me , They need to do there work and investigate before sending court actions to Northampton wasting court time my time and earning loads

I have tried on several occasions today to pay a court judgement i have rang them 3 times got cut off while waiting for the correct person i was told they would ring me noone has contaced me i have sent them an email no responce just cannot be botherd with there customers i put the full case details on the email with my contact number but they cannot be bothered to sort this matter out,

Do not go anywhere near. They dealt with my aunts estate, care home fees agreed at £60000, house sale should have gone through December 2019. They had already paid out beneficiaries apart from my family. Didn't hear anything so emailed Jan 2020 to get auto reply solicitor had left. Managed to contact them for someone else to take over. House sold Feb 2020 for them to come back and say care home fees 98000. I queried they said they would chase council. My mum had been left a small legacy but she sadly passed away in June 2020 so never received it herself. They had charged 7500 + vat up until Dec 2019. I put a formal complaint in July 2020 due to lots of other issues with them (too many to list) and was told they would continue to chase council and deduct 600 off bill. August 2020 complained to Ombudsman. I myself sorted the care home fees, they did nothing. Ombudsman got involved, they would cap the bill at 6000+ vat and give me the estate accounts by today - needless to say I have heard nothing. They have sat on this money and don't seem to want to part with it. Atrocious company and I have gone back to the Ombudsman as it was them they agreed this deadline with. Its over 2 years since my aunt passed and the stress they have put me through as executor is unbelievable. Keep well away

This is the company who's people doesn't know what is the complain procedure is, who is the right person to talk regarding issue. One of the worse legal service provider.

Another company thinks it is fine to just ignore the law. They serve papers to addresses that they know are empty in order to register CCJ's on you. If you want to then ask for the CCJ to be set aside it costs £255 so often more than the original debt that they say is owed. You have no option but to pay the CCJ to get it removed. If the company has never had any correspondence by return they should try to communicate prior to obtaining a CCJ.

We attempted to seek advice from Oliver Gutman who simply wasted our time (thereby costing us money) and never replied. I’ve never come across quite such an unresponsive solicitor.

Seems to a front for UK search team. Chasing people for debts which are not Theres need to check fact before going of half cocked.

This so called legal company is a absolute disgrace & should be struck off , they have been sending me emails for week stating i owed isupply money for gas & electricty for the period 2017 - 2018 i was with isupply until 2020 when they went into liquidation & customers were moved over to edf .
NOTE : PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY DO NOT PAY THEM ANTHING THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED & WILL TRY THERE UTMOST TO GET MONEY OUT OF YOU .

Absolute disgrace. They had my file for over 18 months. 4 barrister meetings cancelled one due to conflict of interest. 1st file for counsel documents illegible, blurred and duplicated. Never did have a meeting with barrister or Martin Noble their negligence solicitor. Solicitor then went on compassionate leave & senior partner took over. Promised me deadlines to have file for counsel complete. Never happened & when she eventually called week later to say she was no further forward & could no longer give deadlines I was furious. When I told her how appalled I was she told me I needed professional help! Disgusted! When I put in a complaint they ended their services with me. Refusing to refund £3k of totally unnecessary costs. They’ve not done what they promised. Other solicitors are advising their incomplete file for counsel is useless. That any other solicitor will need to review files again & thus further costs!!!.
