Repair
I inquired about a repair for my backpack and while I couldn’t get a definitive answer about whether the repair would be fixable or covered under the lifetime warranty, I received a prompt response from customer service under 24hrs with details about how to ship my backpack to the repair center to check. I live in the San Jose area and saw that I could actually drop off to the Timbuk2 store at SF Premium Outlets in Livermore, so I did that instead of packaging it up and mailing it. Within a few days, I received an email notifying me that my backpack was accepted for repair and that it would be covered under the lifetime warranty. Several days later, I got an email notification that it was shipped to my house with an estimated date of arrival. I received my backpack all fixed up, about 8 days after I dropped it off. It was a fantastic experience, especially considering that I was notified that the process might take 6-10 weeks. Hopefully I won’t need another repair for a while but I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to their customer service again, Timbuk2 made the process so easy and I know so many other brands make the process more challenging so that they don’t have to fulfill their warranty. This backpack was a gift back in 2018 and the only item I have from Timbuk2 but I might have to change that after this experience!

Marlene helped me through the process…
Marlene helped me through the process of replacing two clips that I had broken over time. The messenger bag is approximately 14 years old or so, of which I have two. She was very helpful and quick to find the correct clips that would fit my bag and were out for delivery the following day.
I couldn’t ask more from a company that has Marlene as the representative for customer support. Timbuk2 has my loyalty and admiration for a company that stands behind their products.
In totality, my family and I own six various products from Timbuk2. I incorrectly stated five in a prior post.

After owning for 6 months
After owning for 6 months, I've been very impressed with the build quality, especially since I lug around school books, two laptops, an additional monitor - the bag has taken my abuse with stride and shows no signs of stopping.

I have used my backpack (Spire Laptop Backpack 2.0) on 2 trips, one being a 3 week trip through Africa. I used it as my main bag for packing all clothes. I found it great, easy to manage. Held a ton, didn't look like it was holding a ton. And when I take it on small day trips snowboarding, it looks sleek and I don't notice it. Also my stuff inside stays dry. Love it.

Excellent Bag
Let's start with the positives:
- Quality, superb
- Color options, virtually unlimited.
- Laptop "comfort," perfect. Love it that the MacBook Pro doesn't bottom out at the bottom of the bag. If you drop this bag, your computer will be fine.
- Size, perfect for me and or any airline overhead or under-seat stowage.
My negatives are:
- Why on earth did Timbuk2 make the interior pocket(s) so darn small? Even the pen storage is so shallow the pens don't stay in. A ±2" depth to put a pen is ridiculous. The little zipper pocket is too small for pretty much anything.
- Lastly, and of course this is subjective, but I wish the bottom portion was a separate compartment accessible from the outside. Why? Because I always carry a small bag of cables, chargers, etcetera. When on an airplane, I have to empty the darn main compartment to get to cables!
Anyway, great bag, no regrets. If you're on the fence, buy this one.

Great quality, but expensive
I am very impressed with the quality of my bag, and it had fit my needs very well. My only frustration is that about a week after it was delivered, the Black Friday 30% off sale hit. I had paid full price, so every time I pick up my bag, I feel a tinge of regret for having paid more than I needed to. Because it is so expensive, 30% is a substantial discount.
