The communication was really good all the way through the process. The car was collected at the stated time, diagnosed and repaired to a very good standard and returned really quickly. Elliot was very pleasant to deal with and has been in touch since the cars return to follow-up and check if everything was OK. Overall, a very simple process from start to finish, making a potentially horrendous situation much easier to bear.

From my initial enquiry a year ago right up the present I have had expertise from the staff. James G. has been brilliant with keeping me informed from start to finish, collection, arrival, diagnostics, quote to repair and finally turning my vehicle round in a week. Well done, Bank Holiday got in the way for the return of the vehicle. Would recommend them 👌

James was excellent in explaining the full process but above all kept me up to date and also contacted after repair to ensure the car was running well.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Service – I Trusted ASR With Both My Audi Q7 & SQ7

I honestly cannot recommend ASR Gearbox Repairs highly enough. After my experience with them, I have now trusted them with both of my cars – my Audi Q7 and Audi SQ7 – and that probably says more than anything else I could write.
The first car was my Q7, which had serious gearbox issues. At the time, I was dealing with a warranty company and spent a long time waiting for them to authorise and pay for the repair. Unfortunately, after all the waiting, they didn’t contribute anything and I eventually had to cover the entire repair bill myself.
Throughout that situation, the guys at ASR were absolutely brilliant with me. They were patient, understanding and never made an already stressful situation more difficult. They allowed me the time to sort everything out and make the payment myself after it became clear that the warranty company wasn’t going to help.
That experience gave me so much confidence in ASR that less than a month later I booked my Audi SQ7 with them as well. This time there was no warranty involved and I was paying for the repair myself, but I already knew exactly where I wanted the work done.
Once again, their customer service was exceptional. I was away on holiday while everything was being sorted, and they were incredibly accommodating, even waiting for me to return so that the car could be handed back to me.
For me, a good garage isn’t just about repairing a gearbox. It’s about trust, communication, workmanship and how you’re treated when things don’t go according to plan. ASR demonstrated all of those qualities on two separate occasions.
Having trusted them with two high-value Audi vehicles, including an SQ7, I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone needing gearbox work.

I contacted ASR gearbox repairs after my Fiesta developed some problems with the gears being really stiff and quite crunchy and making some nasty noises.

I spoke to Elliot who was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful from the first phone call. I explained the issues and he talked me through possible causes and potential costs to get it sorted. He was happy to answer all of my questions and explained everything clearly.

ASR arranged to collect my car which made everything much more convenient and once they had diagnosed it, Elliot called me to talk me through what they had found and what work was required. The quote was within the initial estimate and everything was discussed and explained before the repair went ahead so I felt reassured.

I’ve now got my car back and the difference is incredible!!! All of the gears change smoothly and there is no more horrible crunching. It honestly feels like a completely different car and is so much nicer to drive.

The service from beginning to end, from the customer service to the mechanical work itself has been excellent. Thank you very much to Elliot and the whole ASR team for getting my car back on the road and driving perfectly again!

I would definitely recommend ASR for any gearbox issues. They provide a really professional, reliable and honest service, communicate clearly and most importantly, do an excellent job.

Apart from the delays which is not fault, I strongly would recommend them for future repairs. Very nice company and great service I couldn’t be more than happier with the repair they did, through the whole time they kept me updated and shout out to Elliot, he is genuinely a great person and worker and he also give me a lot of options/opinions on what to do and not. Great job guys and keep up.

Sonny was particularly helpful and explained clearly what the issues were with the mechatronic unit on our VW.
The pick up and delivery service was also appreciated.
The only slightly disappointing fact is that, unlike most other garages in my experience and the fact that I mentioned at the beginning that there was an existing warranty, ASR will not deal directly with any warranty providers. Whilst I can understand their reasoning (it takes up too much of their time) , it is a shame that this was not clearly indicated at the outset.
This aside, however, we were, overall, very satisfied with the service and turnaround time.
We are still ‘running in’ the new unit but so far, so good!

Amazing customer service, especially dealing with Sonny. Very friendly and super helpful to help me sort out my car. Definitely recommend those guys for any repairs for your car.

***BEWARE****. Avoid, avoid, avoid
As others have reported, your car will not be repaired locally, branches do not exist. ASR Farnborough has a fictitious address 123 Main Street that does not exist. Try googling ASR in your nearest town. Your car will be taken many miles away without your knowledge. Parts are not manufacturers own, by their own admission, they say they are far superior. How does that work with the warranty, I wonder. The invoice price is quoted ‘profoma’ meaning no legal basis, will not be what you were initially told. They say they have a huge stock of every part and then after a few days of silence from them when you phone chasing your car they say they are waiting for parts . Next time you call you are told they are working on it. They don’t phone you with any updates whatsoever and certainly not what the issue is. My car was not ready when I was told it would be twice.
Yesterday late afternoon in exasperation I phoned yet again to be told oh yes it’s just been finished. However they were too busy to deliver it back to me for another 3 days possibly. In the meantime I must pay them by bank transfer - no other method. Only then would they issue me with an official invoice , give me a guarantee and I’d get my car back sometime. This is not what you expect from a reputable company. This morning my bank flagged this as a possible fraud as it’s such a huge amount of money and had I got my goods, was the company reputable and was I 100% sure I would. When I phoned ASR at 9am I asked the staff where they are speaking from they told me no, they aren’t local but outside Heathrow. I asked where my car is ‘don’t know, north London somewhere’ was the answer. I live in Hampshire. I’m told unless I pay them the amount on their proforma - without any back up evidence from a skilled technician to prove this is the work they've done - I can’t have my car back. Then I was informed I could get a taxi to Staines at their expense, take someone with me to look at the work. independent motor gear box specialists willing to give up time at a moments notice at no charge must be just sitting around waiting for my call ? Then I was informed my car would be delivered to my home but would not removed from the low loader until I had paid. The other reviews are correct, your car ends up God knows where, being worked on by God knows who for an unknown amount of money - maybe God knows that too ? Your car is held hostage until you comply.
You folk who have not got your car back might like to know they have a very large storage warehouse full of vehicles. Could yours be there if you didn’t pay up? No idea.
I haven’t paid, I haven’t got my car back , Police are aware as are DVLA and my insurance company.
What I’d like is a proper report, a proper sensibly priced invoice, a test drive , a real 12 month warranty and my car back. Then I would pay. Otherwise just return my car intact.

I have a semi-automatic Toyota which had a transmission issue, shifting from drive to neutral while driving. I struggled to find a garage to repair the issue or one that was willing to help! I found ASR and spoke to Chris who was very friendly, informative, helpful and reassuring. After speaking on the phone, Chris immediately emailed over all the details including the discussed quotes for repair costs and warranty information. Collection was arranged quickly and the team contacted me with the diagnosis. I was pleased the total cost was at the lower end of the original quote, the fault was repaired successfully and my car was redelivered within a few days. Chris was a pleasure to deal with and reassured me during a very stressful time! I am so pleased to have my car back and haven't experienced any issues so far. I highly recommend ASR - fantastic service.

Speaking to Chris, he explained all the potential cost's & pitfalls. Then they did exactly what it said on the tin. (So to speak, or coin that phrase.!!)Collected on time, a week away & delivered on time. Still early days, but so far so good.

As soon as I’d picked up the phone ASR were helpful and very straightforward to deal with. I was due to go on holiday in the camper so I was on a tight schedule. ASR diagnosed the issue and repaired the vehicle and got it back to me all in good time.

Trust in an internet based supplier can only be built on the bedrock of service. Everything about ASR was five star. The technical and pricing explanations, the availability of contacts and the simplicity of the process were all seamless. They do precisely what they say on the tin. My gearbox issue was fixed for c.£5k less than the main dealer’s quote and in half the time. And ASR picked up and delivered my car back to my home as part of their service. Highly recommended.

I had a problem with our car automatic gear box. The guy who talked me through the process was very helpful and informative. He spent some time listening to me, a the time I was stressed due to not having a functional car, and explaining options.

I had a problem with my Golf DSG gearbox. After spending a bit of time calling several different companies and reading reviews I elected to go with ASR. Having read some of the negative reviews I went in with my eyes open and I have to say I was blown away with their service. Kind, Courteous, detailed and thorough. The repair took a couple of weeks to do which was a bit annoying without a car but such is life. They were great to deal with and would recommend ASR without hesitation. Chris and his team did a great job.

Dont judge a book by its cover, give them a go a see for your yourself.

My car had to go back five times in two months. after the initial rebuild. Each time being told I needed a new battery. I had the battery checked by three independent garages all said there was nothing wrong with it. The fourth time they sent it back they had changed the battery. Guess what? The issue was still there. So I took it to a different VW/Audi specialist who found the problem within 10 minutes, no joke, ten minutes. A loose earth cable on the gear box!!! Seriously!

Then six months later, it had to go back again because the seal had failed draining the gearbox of all its oil. I really do think they just used normal household sealant.

The final straw was two weeks after the 12 month warranty ran out the sealant failed again. So same issue, but no, they wanted to charge me full price for the totally sub standard job they did in the first place.

Do not use this over priced bunch of cowboys.
If I could give no stars I would, as they do not deserve the one that I HAVE to give them.

This experience took place between June and Sept 2023. However a person from ASR told me if I wrote a review they would not honour my warranty!! So I had to take it down. So I'm posting it now. I hope this really helps someone.
